lol I used to have an older profile back when I was at Snider (2016 grad), but I was too lazy to remember what the username and password were so I just made a new account after falling away from the GID for a few years. I try to look at things as subjectively and analytically as possible, but I do have to consider some X-factors (rivalries, win/lose streaks, etc.). If I remember correctly (I don't have the paperwork in front of me rn) I had Snider as a 7.5 point favorite with the o/u at ~60 points. Dwenger isn't the caliber of past teams this year, but they come into this game more fired up than any other game so far. I think they have what it takes to pull it off, but the Panthers could also certainly bet them as well, which is why I predicted it to being down to a field goal ala weeks 1 & 2. Comes down really to how bad the Panthers want the Victory Bell.

Did you go by the username Komets?

Didn't see the article. I mean, it's the Battle of the Bishops...........it's big. I just think Snider/Dwenger is bigger most years. Two larger schools with SAC implications on the line.

There are no Big Ten implications on the line when Indiana plays Purdue in the oaken bucket game. So I guess it isn't a very big rivalry game.

Why no love for Sagarin? It’s not his fault that some conferences are “closed.”  Except for the closed conferences, for whom the algorithms he uses don’t work well, his system is amazingly accurate at predicting winners, especially in the playoffs. He doesn’t sit in an office with a pencil and a green eye shade figuring out which teams to disrespect this week. It’s all math once you develop the algorithms.

You folks who do nothing but complain because the Sagarin rankings don’t jibe with what you think should be the order, let’s see you pick against Sagarin and do a better job over the long haul. Believe me, you won’t.

I have brains enough to know that there isn't 83 teams better than Luers.

It's been well discussed before, the SAC and SIAC both suffer in Sagarin Ratings because they play "closed" schedules of 9 game only conference teams. It messes with the Sagarin Ratings because of this. Things will change drastically after the first week of the tournament when they play teams outside of conference play.

Then why were they ranked #11 last week? Did this idiotic criteria just start this week?

I don't think so. That sectional is Dwenger's for the taking with Snider not far behind. It's looking like Dwenger might be the best team north of Indy regardless of class.

Snider has a state champion caliber quarterback, running back, offensive line, defensive line, and linebacker crew. It's their pass defense and lack of offensive playmakers deep down the field that ranks Snider behind Dwenger and Homestead in the SAC right now. If they improve those two areas, they'll be a tough out come sectional time.

They rank behind only Dwenger and Homestead?

Game of the week in the SAC

It's 2A vs 6A, but yet considered the marquee game in Northeast Indiana Friday night. Bishop Luers returns most of their players from what should have been a state championship team a season ago. The Knights already have a couple of victories over Carroll since the Chargers joined the SAC a few years back, and this team is better than any of those. However, Carroll is also looking at what could be their best team since joining the conference. Not to mention they'll be hosting for the first time in their brand new stadium. The Chargers will be jacked up for sure. But don't count out those Knights.

I'm giving the 6A school the advantage in this one. Carroll 35-21

    Carroll wins easily 42-14.

Historically, Fort Wayne has sent 30 players to the NFL. By comparison, Indianapolis is just shy of 90. I know this was an SAC thread, so that number will vary. The thirty players noted identify as being born in Fort Wayne. But on the flip side of that, I'm sure there were some SAC kids in the NFL who were born outside of the city.

Indy's metro population is almost 5 time more than Fort Wayne. So I would say The Fort is holding it's own. No holding it's own jokes.😀

Both Lewellens graduated as well as several other two way players.

Luers will be really good. Athletes EVERYWHERE.  I mean their D Tackle was back deep to return kickoffs last year.

Mater Dei was young last year as well.  Scecina has to get through HC again. I don't know what Pioneer has coming back, but both Lewellen brothers graduated, right?

Don't Sleep on Eastside Luers barely beat them and they return a lot of talent.

Pioneer is way to high. We lost a ton to graduation last year and until these new guys prove themselves we shouldn't even be considered as a top team.

Meanwhile Luers returns a ton of talent.
