Says who? They could definitely host both of those for FOOTBALL.

I think for Fort Wayne specifically, they do not get to host too many basketball regionals or semi-state games because none of their basketball gyms are large enough. I think Northrop's gym is the largest capacity at 3,500, with Northside and Wayne and right behind at 3,300 and 3,200 respectively. New Haven's gym is 3,300 as well.

Compared to the 16 Regional sites last year, only Northrop would be larger than 2 of the locations (Triton 3,470 and Lapel 3,051) while the other 3 I mentioned would only be bigger than Lapel.

All the schools' gyms are less than half the size of the smallest Semi-State site last year (Washington at 7,090).

But with Football, there are plenty of nice stadiums in Fort Wayne, with turf, that could host neutral site Regional and/or Semi-State games.

They used play regional and semi state games at the memorial coliseum which now holds 13,000 for basketball.

No, I got a chance to talk to Coach Zolman on Friday. They will be ready and I honestly expect them to beat Carroll on Friday. They will still struggle against the Indy schools for reasons that have been mentioned on here multiple times.

If Homestead beats Carroll they could very well struggle against a good Warsaw team who has two week bye.

My understanding is that most schools fund their turf privately but I admittedly don't know the details on many of them.  Penn has had turf for a long time now but I recall them soliciting private donations for it.  Still surprising to me that Luers can't find a way to fund it.  Off the top of my head, I know they have professional football and baseball players that have made pretty good money and I'm sure there are some other wealthy families in the fold.

Fort Wayne public schools field turf is 100% tax payer money.

For a school with a  great winning tradition in football, Luers has the worst facilities of any successful programs in the state.  Talking about playing field, press box, concession stand, restrooms. dressing rooms  etc.  Most schools with multiple state championship have just outstanding facilities, except Luers.  I don't blame them for moving to Dwenger.  Any place is better than  Luers.

It's frustrating for Luers parents and fans when we see one public school after another getting field turf paid for by taxes that they have to pay into. By  the way I'd rather have crap facilities than a crap program.

There’s a reason they don’t play Super Bowls in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

When the best two teams (and highest ranked contest in state history) are head to head you want elements to be the least of concern.

    Some things are uncontrollable…this wasn’t.

Yes but the game before the super bowl could be played in Green Bay with the same weather conditions. Only sissy teams complain about weather or field conditions.

The scuttlebutt in FW is that the NEW Superintendent of FWCS is all about have ALL 4 HS fields turfed ASAP!  He doesn't understand the delay in not going forward.

As I said before, FW Wayne has 'jumped' FW South and is getting Field Turf after this season.  But there is a possibility that South/North and Wayne may all get Field Turf before next season.

Is there a possibility that talk will again start on FW Snider getting their own field?

Poor little ole Luers will be only school in the SAC without turf.
