That 2002 HH team was NASTY. I don't like using the term "choked" because it's high school football...things happen. But man how that team didn't play for a State Title is beyond me. I know that Chatard had a pretty good squad that year, but that HH team was very good. As was 1999-2000 with the Kress boys/Goldsberry. Pretty good run of talent right there. As far as this years team/game this Friday - I can't really give an educated opinion as I have not seen Chatard play at all. I do know that this HH team has the ability to slow the game down/shorten possessions and generally won't beat themselves and will be sound in all phases of special teams.

Is there pass interference BEHIND the line-of-scrimmage?? To my understanding, or what I have always known - is that behind the line-of-scrimmage, there is NO PI?? Meaning, a Defensive Lineman or Linebacker reads a screen, he has free reign to grab at the RB. Is this correct??

2A Semi-State: Western Boone @ Triton Central

SMH - just when I thought we had put this nonsense behind us and you all could move on to focusing in on what would be a great back-to-back accomplishment, you just can't help yourself throwing jabs. If you think 2017 was a "moment-in-the-sun" or flash-in-the-pan for SR, then you haven't been paying much attention in the 2000s really. 2002 - State Finalist (lose a close one to Luers, who was a juggernaut at the time) 2006- State Finalist (lost another close one - this time to Harding) 2007- Semi-State, lose to Heritage Christain 2008- Sectional Champs, lose a mud bowl in Regional 2009-2012 - Run into some VERY good MD teams who just happen to be in our sectional most years 2013 - Sectional Champs, lose in regional 2014 - Lose to MD in Sectional 2015-2016 - Spend some time up in 3A...make some Sectional Championships, but run into some very good Brownstown teams 2017 - Finally reach the mountain top 2018- Semi-State ...you all put it on us pretty humbling. Certainly not mind-boggling/blow you away run, but we're proud of it nonetheless. Most years not mentioned up there we spent dealing with a certain P/P in our neck of the woods that is known to be pretty good (MD). I really regret this back-forth, you all should spend your energy being exciting for another great season and potential State Championship. Best of luck this weekend. -
2A Semi-State: Western Boone @ Triton Central

Seriously it’s like talking to a brick wall with you WeBo folk...borderline childish/petty. Here’s the jist - 1. Before last year, I hadn’t given 2 thoughts to the WeBo football program as it hadn’t been relevant for quite some time. 2. You all put it on us last year- plain and simple. Undefeated State Champs- was super impressed. 3. From that time on, I’ve checked in on WeBo this season as I knew they had quite a bit returning and a good chance to repeat. (I foolishly thought that would bring them up to 3A- but the system is flawed) 4. A fan of yours starts throwing shade at another coaching staff and claims WeBo’s staff has WAY more class than others...hit the brakes for a second...I simply cited an example from the WeBo staff that could be seen by others as “laying it on”. I didn’t necessarily think too much of it at the time and still really don’t...we should have stopped it if we didn’t want to hear about it. I was just pointing out some may have seen it as unnecessary. - I hope Chris or some moderators will shut this thread down soon as clearly there isn’t much more to be said. Best of luck in the State Championship -

Call it what you will- just responding to a comment you made about the “CLASS” when the score was 42-7 with under a minute to go in the ballgame. Like I said- careful throwing stones. Best of luck next week. -

You mean like putting one in up 42-7 with under a minute to go in the ballgame?? Careful throwing stones. Didn’t watch the game but reading the thread I would agree that’s not great on TC’s part - but kuddos to you all for taking 4 knees (maybe the staff learned something after last years SS?) What the other team does is there decision, and they decided to play it out till the end. -
First off- hats off to the Patriots in getting to Lucas Oil. Way to represent the PAC! Had a group they’ve been waiting on for some time and they did what needed to be done. Now- for the ol nemisis Chatard. What is the outlook on their team?? Being down in the corner of the State- don’t know much about them?? Run heavy?? Throw it around the lot?? I will say if you think you’re just gonna line up and try and run it at the Patriots, you’re gonna be in for a “slobber knocker” of a game and probably a long night.

Damn - people sure are sensitive. I was asking a genuine question as it seems to be a very rare feat (not playing a P/P school) and was curious how many times that may/may not have happened. With Chatard/Memorial now out of the picture obviously that could become more of the norm now. Geez... BTW - I was in attendance in L'burg rooting on the Patriots and our PAC brethren. Would be cool to see a PAC school up their representing. Scenia, Heritage Christain, Brebuff, etc...plenty of them you failed to mention. Heck there has been years we've seen 3 straight P/P schools on the way up to a trip to LOS. -
Are these all the live-stream links??

2A North Semi-State ANDREAN @ EASTBROOK
jets replied to captainobvious's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I don't know all the ins/outs and point values and what it takes...but I've always wondered how Eastbrooke hasn't been moved up with the Success Factor?? Seems like you guys are always in semi-state?? Does getting there not accumulate enough points I guess?? -

Nice Post - finally we have some reason/clarity to this thread. Interesting take on the "run through the playoffs" ...got me thinking. I know HH hasn't had it easy by any means - but interesting that they haven't run up against a P/P school at all in the tourney?? I wish some statistician could tell me when the last time a team in 3A South has had a road to LOS that didn't involve playing or taking out a P/P?? HH gotta feel pretty fortunate in that regard.... -
Not mad at all. Thought we represented ourselves pretty well for moving up to 3A and losing our All-State caliber QB. Just pointing out what I feel is an obvious flaw in the system. Some of you dudes try and turn EVERYTHING into an argument and it really is annoying/tiresome. Glad you all got a new field though.

No dog whatsoever in the Chatard/Danville history/discussion/back-forth...but did the COACH really just leave the sideline to go stand in front of the stands so that everyone can "look at me??" Really?? I have no problem whatsoever with genuine excitement and celebrating with your guys ...but to leave the sideline and go stand amongst the cheerleaders?? Really?? Sorry for the distraction from the game - but man... -
Had ONE goal - but at the expense of others?? Just the "unintended consequences" argument?? Ya it made some P/P play up some classes a few years, but what of the obvious FLAWS in the system?? Like a school could win back-to-back States and have no repercussions??

The Chatard/Danville talk can stop- it ain’t gonna happen. HH rolls in this one 28-7 -
Seema that simple doesn’t it?? Seriously- how has this flaw not been brought up or fixed?? Makes zero sense at all. ZERO Man- can’t you guys ever play nice??
-
It seems it is much easier for schools with enrollment's close to and/or above 1,000 to compete "up a class" ....maybe that's short-sighted or ignorant but just been my observation.
-
I'm just not so sure the answer isn't just scrap the whole dang thing?? I seriously wonder what the date would like like had it not been in place?? Would THAT much of changed?? I know WHY the rule was implemented in the first place, and was done so with good intentions - I'm just not sure it's been the best thing/is working.
-
Sure - but you've got potential for a reemergence this year - 1A-LCC/Lutheran 2A - Andrean 3A- Chatard 4A - Memorial Seems to me, and this may not be totally accurate/sensible, but letting this thing (Success Factor) run its course it seems really didn't affect P/P all that much. In fact one could argue moving Pioneer/Linton out of 1A, New Pal out of 4A might have made the road that much smoother?? The more I'm watching this thing (Success Factor) play out, the more I'm thinking we got it wrong.

I know everyone is gearing up for their potential chance at a State Finals birth and it’s the most exciting time of the year- and for good reason. Nothing like punching that ticket to the State Finals. But something I can’t help but shake...and I know I should probably wait to start this topic till the offseason but I just gotta put it out there- Are we sure this Success Factor is working/is the best thing?? I mean- just look at some of the potential match-ups that would/could have taken place: 1A- Pioneer vs LCC , Linton (unless their enrollment has moved them to 2A permanently?) 2A- SR vs MD...any others I may have missed?? 3A- Memorial vs HH and/or Gibson, Chatard maybe in the South again?? 4A- New Pal vs Columbus East, Roncolli vs Cathedral?? I guess with my first go around with it- I’m second guessing if it was necessarily the best thing?? I mean- I’m watching kids work their tails off and paying for the successes of classes before them. And then I’m watching teams achieve nearly the same feats but get no penalty because it fell in a different cycle?? In what world is it right for a team to be able to go to back-back State and then remain in the class, but a team can do the exact same thing and get penalized?? What am I missing here guys?? Anyway- feel free to delete this moderators if the discussion takes away from the game talk this weekend...just been something that’s been on my mind so I was throwing it out there.

Back to the game itself - I just don’t see a way HH doesn’t get it done in this one. The fact that Danville seemed to struggle a bit with VL (weren’t they down at half?) seems to tell me everything I need to know about this one. HH punches their ticket to the Oil Can Friday night and starts to prepare for the monumental task that is Chatard -

Didn't mean to imply that Chatard couldn't be beat. I know that not to be true as well...was just curious at to thoughts now that the "big bad wolf" so-to-speak was out of the South and moved North.
