SIAC Week 11- Sectional Semifinals

I'd say it is NP's year. If it's not, then I can't imagine it would ever be their year. -

I'm guessing MD is the best 3-7 2A team in the state, but they are 3-7 for a reason. This isn't last year's team. It should be MD +15. I think it is actually Castle -36 -

It is amazing a team like Central can go from conference champs to this overnight. They go from 13-1 to 2-28 since. -

MD has to win state to avoid their first losing season since 2008. Can they do it? -

The entire state will be connected after round 1. No, but one can dream of the day when pesky high schooler's don't get in the way. -

SIAC Week 10 - Sectional Round 1

This is the week the SIAC connects to the state on Sagarin. Only VL (-51.53), MD (-28.37) and Harrison (+8.65) play non-SIAC opponents. Expect major downgrading of the SIAC on Sagarin as those three schools will likely under perform collectively (-71.25) -
SIAC Week 10 - Sectional Round 1

Bosse is a trap game for Jasper. Sloppy play and turnovers would mean a Jasper loss. -
It's hard to believe a team with these numbers only wins three games. I really wish they were still in 3a.
-
The recent history for those schools is SR beats Linton four years in a row, loses year five, then has them replaced with Washington. HH replaces VL with MD (a big upgrade at the time), loses two years in a row, then replaces them with Mt. Vernon. I've never gotten an answer as to why either series ended. (SR v Linton, HH v MD) Both seamed to make sense from a schedule and competitive standpoint. In the new PAC most non-conference games are cross division. The only non-PAC games with 3a or larger schools are Washington vs Edgewood (4a) and Tell City vs Hancock County (3a if they were Indiana), and GS vs IMG acadamy.

I prefer competitive scheduling and conference alignments should always be reevaluated to encourage it. The article touches on aspect of that. The article suggests big match-ups between SIAC, PAC, and Indy schools could happen if the conference wasn't closed. I agree, that could happen. But considering it basically rarely or never happened prior to a closed conference, I'm not sure why it would happen if the conference opened up.

...additionally, the improvement of VL and Bosse make this the deepest the conference has been since expansion.

The conference Sagarin ratings are particularly odd this year. Typically the conference is drastically overvalued or undervalued before being connected during round one. This year the conference is overvalued. Currently the conference has 8 of the top 10 ranked teams in the state on predictor with only the SIAC wanna-be's Brownsburg and Center Grove rounding out the top 10. Typically the in conference Sagarin rankings match closely the actual standings. This year that did not happen at the top. I don't understand this at all but I suspect Sagarin might have wrong game results for North or Reitz to account for them being switched in the rankings. I included the final 2022 standings after state. I expect the final ratings after state to place Reitz in the 20's and the 6-3 second place teams to be in the 30-60 range. Regarding the draw it looks fair. Jasper cannot overlook Bosse or it will be another round one exit for Jasper. This sectional being a SIAC redux is just an unfortunate result of geography and class mix. Memorial and Bosse are both on the cusp of 3A and that would change the look of this sectional quite a bit. Regarding the conference: I'm a fan of a system that improves competitive scheduling. The cyclical nature of the sport makes that difficult to do without promotion/relegation or strength of schedule based scheduling. Overall, I find the conference to be competitive and balanced. Four teams make up the bottom. One of them is defending 2A state champ MD, one is Central who just three years ago was conference champ, and one is Bosse who has given fits to most teams they have played this year. The other, (Harrison) beat Jasper last year, so I'm not running them down. Just a couple years ago Vincennes was trying to leave the conference for competitive reasons and now they are a week nine win away from finishing second in the conference. That's how it goes in a deep, competitive conference like the SIAC. I love being a closed conference. Would I change the schedule to make it more competitive? Yes. Would I go back to the schedule Jasper had four years ago? No. -
What is the health status of Fischer and Hunt moving forward?
-
Add North to that group and five teams will be tied for second place at 6-3
-
Jasper loses by 7. Gave up two safeties on bad punt snaps and missed three pats (two on kicks, one on 2 pt attempt.)
-
Was the following play enforced incorrectly then? It was 4th and 5 from the 8. The play is at the 49:20 minute mark of the video.
-
Both of the following scenarios are 2nd and 3 from the 7 yard line with the offense about to score a touchdown. Scenario 1: Pass interference is called in the end zone. Scenario 2: Encroachment is called. What is the new down and distance for each scenario.

Are all the Memorial transfers eligible for week one this year? I recall that was a problem for week one last year.
