In Sagarin the SIAC finished +24 in the non-conference games. (Bosse was +2...yippee) That is a +90 point swing vs expected results. The change in ratings for North (who was idle and played all SIAC teams) should tell us how undervalued the SIAC was during the season.

Follow the Science? How COVID Authoritarians Get It Wrong

Unrealistically I would remove all mandates and let people do as they wish. This would result in a health care disaster this winter and most directly harm those that choose to downplay the severity of this pandemic or act like it doesn't exist. I am fortunate enough to avoid high risk behavior and would benefit from weeding out the stupid. Realistically I encourage targeted restrictions county by county based on hospital/health care stress. Restrictions means limitations on crowd size and mask mandates. As our understanding of COVID transmission improves I would adjust those restrictions accordingly, different rules for indoor vs outdoor etc... Most importantly I would keep politics out of that decision making. I would also encourage a massive information campaign to target misinformation on social media. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/science/2020/10/guide-to-overcoming-coronavirus-misinformation-infodemic/?utm_source=reddit.com#close -

#False. Only cancer and heart disease will kill more people by the end of the year then Covid. In case you didn't notice cancer and heart disease are not communicable. -
Sorry. NASA says humans cause global warming. "...solar irradiance changes cannot plausibly account for more than 10 percent of the 20th century’s warming." Central vs Jasper will be live streamed here. https://www.ihsaatv.org/Jasper/

The highest rated team in a closed conference will always have the weakest schedule and the worst team will always have the toughest. The Castle/Bosse cancellation throws this year out of balance.
-
If I understand the system correctly then just one non-conference game will connect the conference. Castle and North don't play so there are just four connecting games this weekend (MD, Mem, VL, Bosse). Those games will have an oversized influence on the entire conference's rating. Future nonconference games will help normalize the ratings. Yes.
-
Though that is reasonable, this game will have little impact on the winners sagarin rating as it is just another SIAC game. Same with Reitz/Harrison. The loser of Jasper/Central will likely go up or down just as much as the winner does. (Should Jasper lose by less then 12 they should go up more then Central does.) The non-conference games will determine how much all teams in the SIAC move up or down. My rough math shows Mem, MD, Bosse, and VL as a combined 66 point underdogs. Should they collectively outperform or under-perform that number the entire conference will go up or down. Yes, the statewide respect of the entire SIAC may be determined by weather or not Bosse can cover a 51 point spread. Perhaps you should check your first post.

It will be interesting to see how much the SIAC teams change in Sagarin ratings after connecting to the rest of the state this week.
-
On a side note Central should win with a running clock since everyone here has cursed Jasper by picking them in an upset.

Do they always have the chains on the home side at North?
-
At the E North stadium which side of the field is the press box? I'm curious why the chain gang was on the home side of the field.

The SIAC has zero non-conference wins so it gets hammered in Sagarin. Sagarin currently rates Tecumseh, South Spencer, Washington and Princeton all higher then Reitz. That should tell you all you need to know about comparing a closed conference to the rest of the state using mathematical rating systems (Hint: you can't do it)

Absent more information I would expect the defendant waived a jury trial to have a bench trial. One should not be entitled to a lesser sentence for choosing to avoid a jury trial. One year is generally the typical threshold for misdemeanor vs felony. Had the misdemeanor sentence been greater then one year I would have answered "yes". -

No and no. Laws restricting peaceful assemble are another matter. -
Last night, after a hard fought game, Jasper lost its first SIAC game since 1978. That is 42 years between loses in the SIAC. For perspective, the median age in the US is 38 so over half the people in this country weren’t alive the last time Jasper lost a SIAC game. That is a phenomenal accomplishment and a testament to the hard work and dedication players, coaches, and parents have made over that time. Congrats on the accomplishment and to the next 42 years.

The article you linked to above regarding school transmission has a glaring obvious omission. You even bolded the important part of covid management. "It just takes planning, hard work, and testing, testing, testing." That quote and the article left out one critical component. Quarantine. Testing is completely useless if you don't quarantine people that test positive. How far that quarantine should be extended to close contacts (1, 2, 3,degree contacts etc) is an ongoing evolution and our policy should adjust as knowledge improves.
