  1. There’s 42 years of experience behind that paragraph. It’s called “value billing.”
  2. I think he means “morale.” You don’t need to be able to spell in order to operate an end zone camera. 😜
  3. Because people make offers of settlement for all sorts of reasons besides guilt. As a matter of social policy, the law encourages compromise of disputes. If litigants were permitted to introduce in evidence the fact that the opponent offered to settle the claim, fewer offers would be made for fear that they would be used against the offeror.
  4. Nothing terribly surprising here. Your reaction is precisely the reason offers of compromise are not admissible in evidence at legal proceedings to prove culpability.
  5. Anyone got any video? I saw a still of the onside kick, which tells us nothing.
  6. To be honest, my only interest in this game is the officiating crew. Regular season opponents, 8 losses between them, it’s just the MIC championship game. Doesn’t seem like a state final.
  7. Just another example of why semistate games should be played at neutral sites that reduce travel distance and can accommodate larger crowds.
  8. That sort of 🐎💩 is unworthy of a class program like Heritage Hills. Try being a gracious winner. It might be a refreshing change.
  9. Seriously, you should get some help.
  10. The “cult of victimhood” is apparently alive and well at Eastbrook.
  11. I say, turn loose the lawyers. Then there will be an accounting.
  12. Oh, yes. Several times. And with high school kickers threatening the goal line with increasing frequency, I would expect to see it more and more.
  13. Yes, as long as the hit doesn’t rise to the level of a personal foul. Remember, a receiver waiting on a forward pass is a defenseless player, by definition.
  14. 60 is definitely not “older.” 😠
  15. I don’t believe it’s random, but the specifics of the process are well above my pay grade.
  16. I believe the guy holding the plaque is the Referee of the crew assigned to work the game - from The Region. Either that, or his doppelgänger.
  17. There is a distinct possibility that the covering official knew it was not a foul, bur in the heat of the moment, went to his belt and came out with a flag instead of a bag. I’ve seen it happen. That’s why when I observe a crew, one of the fist things I look for on the opening kickoff is that the “up” officials (back judge and line judge), as well as the Referee, have a beanbag in hand on every single free kick. No exceptions.
  18. FYI, the crew that had this game is on the 4A state final, their first. What do you want to bet that onside kick mechanics is a part of their pregame? 😂🤣
  19. I discussed the holding calls in the postgame debrief of the crew. I can assure you, they are well aware of the proper components of a holding foul, including the fact that it has to have an impact on the outcome of the play.
  20. Agreed, grabbing and restricting a pass receiver behind the line is holding.
  21. Historically, I was very concerned with this issue. Then, in 2017, I was selected to work the North/South all star game in July. I was going to work back judge. I had never worked 7 man mechanics before, let alone as a back judge. And I hadn't worked as a 5 man back judge in many years. But I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to pick up the 7 man mechanics. There are some different coverages and keys, but there are also significant reductions in responsibilities simply because you have two extra officials. From that experience, I concluded that the advantages of working 7 officials greatly outweigh the potential complications of asking people to pick up some mechanics with which they are unfamiliar in the week before the game. Plainly speaking, it's just not that difficult.
  22. The process that comes to mind is you take the 120 officials who worked a sectional final, and create an approved list of all of those officials with, say, at least 5 yrs. of tournament experience, and let each Regional crew choose 2 from that list.
