  1. Hard pass.
  2. Glad to provide a little levity in your otherwise drab existence.
  3. One of many additional subjects you know nothing about.
  4. It seems to me we are on the cusp of losing that which has made college football unique. Instead, the game is rapidly becoming a watered down version of the NFL: a minor league of pro football, with free agency, bidding wars, player holdouts, and everything that comes along when it becomes less about sport and more of a business transaction. I’ll still watch it because I love football. But the players are more and more looking at it like a job, rather than a game. And to me, that’s sad.
  5. That tells me what I need to know about your thought process.
  6. He was trying to convince TA to “monetize” the GID by, among other things, converting it to a subscription based forum. TA was totally against the idea.
  7. So, I ask again. What sort of evidence or “documentation” would satisfy you? Give me a specific example … if you can.
  8. @Sparty won’t be satisfied until you get affidavits from the 1956 Heisman voters attesting to the fact that Jim Brown didn’t win the Heisman because he was black. The notion that, in mid-1950s America, a man was discriminated against because of his race, is not exactly breaking news.
  9. Non-compete agreements are required to be reasonable in scope and length, but are generally enforceable otherwise. I would think a clause which prevents a player from competing for another P4 school for a year would pass muster.

Not complaining. The consensus seems to be a home game is more important than a bye.
  11. Put non-compete clauses in those contracts requiring the player to sit out a season if he breaches the contract by going to another school. Transfer portal? There, fixed that for you.

The way I look at it, since ND can never have a bye, a home game is the best we can hope for, seeding-wise.

On campus games is one thing they got right about this format.
  14. How about “marking their territory?” 😂🤣
  15. As I indicated, my understanding is the exams are used to properly place the student in classes. I’m not aware of any p/p schools turning away paying customers. One exception might be special Ed students, as they may not be equipped to furnish necessary services.
  16. My understanding is that most “entrance” exams are actually “placement” exams. But someone with more current p/p experience can probably provide a better answer.
  17. If there were anything that screams for a tweak in the format next year, it’s this. So, what’s more important: the ability to host a game, or the week off that the first round bye brings?
  18. Who cares? Whether it is easier or not, it’s only relevant if it’s happening. And there’s not a shred of credible evidence that it’s happening, has happened, or will happen in the future.

Nice job, doubling down on an untenable position.

I’m still waiting to hear why the game “should have been” in Bloomington.
  22. I think it was throwing a woman off a balcony, not out of a window.
  23. Good call, ref. Here's the exact wording of the NFL's rule on fair catches, from Rule 10, Section 2, Article 4: "After a fair catch is made or is awarded as the result of fair catch interference, the receiving team has the option of putting the ball in play by a snap or fair catch kick (drop kick or place kick without a tee) from the spot of the catch or succeeding spot after enforcement of any applicable penalties (3-9 and 11-4-3). This includes the 15-yard penalty enforced from the receiving team’s 20-yard line as applicable if the fair catch is made or awarded in his end zone from fair catch interference or illegal contact with the receiver after he has made a fair catch."

I especially like the way the Irish have embraced special teams play as a way to succeed. They had to, given their atrocious field goal kicking situation during the season. Hopefully, that’s about to change as their kicker gets healthy.
