    Notre Dame Men’s Lacrosse begins the defense of last year’s national championship. After winning the ACC regular season and tournament titles, and finishing the regular season ranked #1, the defending champs enter the NCAA tournament as the #1 overall seed. Duke is seeded #2. The Irish have beaten Duke the last 5 times they have played.

    There are both federal and state laws that criminalize illegal gambling. There are many people in jail for breaking these laws. Should all the people who have illegal gambling offenses be released just because many forms of gaming are now legal?

    I say this was the inevitable result of the NCAA’s stupid policies over the years — which have been replaced by NIL & the transfer portal. This is like a state legalizing cannabis. Do you let the people out of jail who broke the law when it was illegal? Do you automatically expunge their convictions?

    Ultimately, the governing body of a group of members answers to … the members. The IHSAA bylaws specify the process by which the IHSAA Commissioner’s office runs the day to day activities, while the Executive Committee (elected by the Members) oversees them. Pretty much the way most corporations operate: shareholders elect a Board of Directors, who hire the CEO and oversee operations.
