  1. WWI not II and it was a French unit that was referred to as Blue Devils Interesting aside... Elwood changed mascots and colors frequently in the early years and used Blue Devils before they switched permanently to the Panther in the mid to late '20s I found it interesting that Noblesville's mascot resembled Purdue Pete but for the school song the music is the IU song. Also, all of the schools in Northern Hamilton County that eventually became Hamilton Heights used the IU fight song as well. I find it interesting that "The Blackhawk" somewhat resembles a vulture only with feathers on the head.
  2. No love for the Madison-Grant Argylls? Only school in the country, high school or college, to use that moniker.
  3. Luers has very few two way players. At Tipton whenever there was a possession change or special teams play it was a wholesale change of personnel for Luers, stepping on our chains and getting in our way as we were trying to get to where we needed to be. When there is 22 bodies moving through that area it can get congested.
  4. When we are on offense I can drag Fred, when we are on defense I sometimes have to prod him down the sideline. Maybe Kory should have got the deluxe cattle prod option when he got us new sticks and chain. If Doug is good to go this week won't have to worry about Fred.
  5. i am one of those others here that have learned a lot from this forum and am ever grateful as I have become a better informed fan because of it. A big thank you to all of the officials that contribute to this forum.
  6. Thanks for coming, hope you had a good time. Fred was slowing us down.
  7. On the sticks. Too slow for the box, can't count high enough to be the clip man.
  8. That was an erroneous prediction.
  9. I'll be on the chains tonight. Best seat in the house.
  10. Get your ticket here..... Tipton's allotment is sold out but Lapel shows tickets still available. Note that it states these are "non Bleacher" seats so you must stand or can bring your own chair. https://secure.payk12.com/school/tiptonhs/596/item/183838
  11. Situation: Team A has scored a touchdown, while coming on the fieldTeam A's kicker pulls his helmet on, lifts his helmet up off of his head, does something to it then pulls it on and fastens the chin strap. Ball was being placed at this time and had not be signaled as ready to play. Team B coaching staff argues the kicker should be ineligible to play because he removed his helmet while on the field. What is the helmet rule for a player coming on to the field while ball is not ready to play?
  12. No it wasn't, the hands were at his side. The official came over and explained the call to the Eastbrook coaches, the coaches had no problem with the call.
  13. See 44 https://nfhs.org/media/4016213/2020-nfhs-football-official-signals-final.pdf
  14. Yes it was. Sideline warning is with arms extended straight out from the shoulders.
  15. That penalty was for assisting the runner. Two of Eastbrook's coaches were just to my right when it happened and one of them had remarked about a player pulling the ball carrier right before the flag came out.
  16. Two are old enough to be my boss and the customers that played at Eastbrook have sons that have or now do play for Adamson. As one of the bosses said.. "I had more opportunities to catch passes on defense than I ever did on offense"
  17. When it's former players for the coach saying that? You find that hilarious?
  18. I work out of Gas City and two of my bosses and a fair number of customers (most are named Roush) played at Eastbrook. They all have said the same thing repeatedly over the years... Adamson doesn't throw enough to keep good teams off balance and win big games. With Jett Engle in the fold that seems to have changed. Looking forward to Friday night, will be my first time chain ganging on an Eastbrook sideline. Ought to be a dandy of a game.
  19. Where do they walk from to get to North Newton High School? it's 5 miles to Enos, doesn't appear to be any homes there, to the south southwest and about 4 miles up to the Prairie Chicken Refuge. There are two homes across the road from the school.
  20. Thank You, I thought that was the issue and not just a Heights thing.
  21. Partly but really just an accumulation of incidents of bad behavior. Too bad because he was a gifted athlete. But a troubled kid.
  22. The Tipton player is the only kid to get kicked off of a Tipton team since the Tolle era started in 1981.
  23. Is there a Hamilton County Health Department rule driving this limit?
  24. It was a tombstone. There's video of it somewhere. I considered that era of the rivalry as an embarrassing low point. It got too nasty.
  25. Madison-Grant and Elwood
