Shame on Notre Dame for scheduling Ohio State, Clemson, USC, Stanford, BYU, and North Carolina in the same season. Is the sure loss because they are playing a certain team on the road?

Cincinnati's been surprising us all season long. First it was the road win at Notre Dame. Then it was the pasting of SMU, East Carolina, and Houston after we all left them for dead when they beat lowly Tulsa by 8 points and Navy by 7. Alabama is just plain hot and cold this year. Florida, Texas A&M, and Auburn all proved that the Tide are vulnerable this year. Let's face it, Bama is lucky to even be here. Of course Cincy has a shot. But as Temp said in an different thread, I wouldn't bet against Saban and his roster of 40 five star athletes. Unfortunately for Michigan, they will be going up against a pissed off Georgia team. My money is with the Bulldogs. That being said, Michigan has a chance to win this game. They've been pretty consistent all season long and beat the team that I said was better than Alabama. So why can't they beat the team that got waxed by the team that I said was inferior to the team that the Wolverines beat? I'll be rooting for the Blue in this one. No offense to Cincinnati and Notre Dame, but how cool would it have been to see Michigan and Ohio State stack up with Georgia and Alabama. Although I'm not convinced that the Buckeyes could beat the Irish or Bearcats on a neutral field, I do think their offense would give the SEC teams fits. In other words, Ohio State matches up better against Bama and Georgia than Cincinnati does. Oh well, just a thought.

Then you're in good company with Notre Dame and Michigan. Many fans are unaware of this and most probably don't care, but Michigan rivals any Power Five program not named Notre Dame, Northwestern, or Stanford when it comes to academic standards for student athletes. Looking forward to it.

Thanks. Didn't answer my question though. Based on the scenario I gave, does Freeman deserve a statue right away? I'm hoping that debate comes to fruition. As a Notre Dame fan, I really don't care to talk about 5th place at the moment. I can't imagine anyone affiliated with the program is.

Dabo and Saban create talent? I thought these kids were 5-Star long before they stepped foot on campus for the firs time. You agree that what Kelly has done with a bunch of three and four star talent is impressive. How do you think he would do with 5-Star talent? I'm not sure how Dabo and Saban are better coaches by far. Saban has the top recruiting class every year. Shouldn't anything less than a title be embarrassing? We saw this year how average a coach can look when he's not graced with the best quarterback in the country. What if Lawrence played for Kelly last year? Sorry, I'm not buying into the notion that Saban and Dabo are the best by far. They might be the best by a hair.

Alabama loses to Georgia today as expected. One of three potential upsets occur. Either Michigan, Oklahoma State, or Cincinnati go down. Notre Dame is propelled into the playoffs. Excited about the hiring of their beloved defensive coordinator at head coach, the return of Kyle Hamilton, and the fact that every assistant coach said, "no, we'd rather stay at Notre Dame than go to LSU," the Irish play with tons of emotion and upset the Bulldogs in Round 1. That momentum continues and propels the Irish to national champions. Does Marcus Freeman automatically get graced with a statue of his honor as a championship coach? Or does the university wait a few years just to make sure he's not a complete flop at the position. The making of this team began well before Freeman's time at Notre Dame. I'm just wondering if the statue gets erected if the Irish with the championship this year.

It doesn't surprise me to see the SEC at the top of the list. Not sure what to think after that. You make your bed, you sleep in it. That's how a pitiful coach like Charlie Weis ends up the highest paid coach in the NCAA.

100% no. Had he retired from football as the coach of Notre Dame, the university may have considered. No chance now that he jumped ship for another program with his team in contention for the playoffs. I find it perplexing that there is a lot of talk about a two loss Alabama team getting in, but absolutely no talk of a two loss Ohio State team getting in. Who wins this game on a neutral field? I'll take Ohio State.

You're wrong. Almost every recruit that comes to Notre Dame cites history/tradition as a factor.

Notre Dame ranks 12th in talent, yet has the 5th best program in the country. That speaks volumes for what Kelly has done as a coach and is why he will be successful at LSU.

There's not ten other coaches who could win if they had the talent of those two programs? Good argument.
