  1. Bishop Dwenger made it to the 25 twice. Once throwing and interception at the 15 and another dropping a wide open pass on the 10. Both times coming away with nothing. Great defenses keep their opponents out of the endzone. Kudos to both.
  2. Stating that Valpo "should" have won 27-7 is the epitome of absurd. Sorry, it just is. You can't take into account one teams mistakes but not the others. I don't know what else to call it other than "absurd." You're not biased toward region teams? Not even a little? Your're from Munster?
  3. I was going to debate this, but looking at the numbers...................New Pal has given up 104 points with a strength of schedule rank of 57. Dwenger gave up 113 with a rank of 55. I'm sure both teams gave up points late in games when the starters were out. I admit, when I think of New Pal, I think of offense. Apparently their defense is pretty solid. New Pal 35, Valpo 17
  4. Maybe one of the most absurd statements I've seen this year. And Dwenger "should" have won 24-10. I guess the two times Dwenger was deep in Valpo territory and came away with nothing doesn't count. Good teams make things happen. In the end Valpo was better and won by a field goal. I'm not going to dive further into the absurdity of your comment. Hat's off to Valpo on a great win. And good luck next week. I would love nothing more than to see them win state. Great program, they deserve it.
  5. Yes. Valpo became the 5th team this year to hold Dwenger to 15 points or less. It was Dwenger's defense that has carried them the last couple years. Valpo holding Dwenger to 7 points isn't much different than what a few other teams did this year. Dwenger holding Valpo to 10 is pretty impressive considering 29 was their lowest scoring total prior to last night. I still have New Pal as a 14 pt favorite over a very good Valpo team. But they won't hold Valpo to 10 points like Dwenger did. I maintain that Dwenger might have the best defense in the state.
  6. More times than not, it was the illegal holding that allowed the RB to get to the endzone in the first place. Congrats to Valpo, they put more points on the board. But Dwenger may have showed tonight that they may have the best D in the state. Before tonight, Valpo's lowest scoring output was 29.
  7. Of course not. Valpo looked terrible against that weakling Dwenger team.
  8. It would shock me. It would take a defense like Dwenger or Carmel to take down New Pal. At the end of the day, New Pal is probably worthy of their national ranking. Kudos to their program.
  9. Reminded me of the game against Homestead. Winnable for sure.
  10. East Noble has absolutely dominated since midway through the 2nd quarter.
  11. It's a shame for Dwenger that they came away empty two times inside the 25.
  12. So much for going up 24-17. East Noble fumbles at the 1. Still tied.
  13. I picked the game up in the second quarter and the Dwenger offensive line seems to be doing fine. They've pushed to the redzone twice with nice drives.
  14. Overrated, they are in trouble next week.
  15. Dwenger holds Valpo to three and out, then fumbles the punt return giving the Vikings the ball at the 20 yard line. Could be the game.
  16. That prediction blows me away. Especially from John Harrell. I don't see it being more than a 7-10 point game in either direction. And I certainly don't think Valpo will put up 35 against Dwenger. I guess time will tell.
  17. I've seen a couple 14 pt predictions. Not sure where the 3 TD came from.
  18. Agree 100%.
  19. "Hype"................meaning that Valpo appears to be good this year based on the fact that many people from that area have said so. I haven't seen Valpo play in person or on film. All I have to go by is what people are saying and the scores of their games. By no means am I using the term as a way to say that they are overrated. I said "toughest." I didn't say anything about them being the best or having the most talent. They probably aren't as good as Carmel and they likely have less talent than Merrillville. But they will give you their best shot. They always play hard, physical football. You might have the better team. You might have the more talented team. But, in more cases than not, Dwenger out "tough" you. Meaning...........................they will play with more passion.
  20. I agree, Carroll is very solid and should contend next year. I wanna say they are the favorite, but I'm not sure what Homestead has coming back besides Goode. And never count out Snider and Dwenger. Should be a fun 2020. Good luck to the Saints! I've got Valpo by 7. I haven't seen Valpo play, I'm just buying into the hype. They have a good win against Merrillville and they seem to have carried their success over from last year. They've won 22 of their last 23.........only loss being to Carmel by 4. But Dwenger might be the toughest team they've seen in the last two years.
  21. Not sure that's a good comparison. Dwenger's defense is way better than Carroll's. Carroll had a very good passing game. Isn't Dwenger's offense built around the run? Care to elaborate on the comparison?
  22. I had to do a double take when I read this. But after further review, you may have a valid argument. I'm thinking 2010 & 2011. 2019.......................I'm going with New Pal, but not by a wide margin. c
  23. I heard in the off season that they were supposed to be better this year. Then they struggled early on and middle. Now they are playing like a typical Carmel state championship team. I'd like to hear what someone from Indy has to say about this question.
