  1. HSE at Carroll in Week 1 should be a dandy.
  2. No, I can't imagine that's the norm. Snider is almost a mirror image of Center Grove. Currently sitting at 259 at Snider and 375 overall.
  3. At the end of the day, this is high school football, not college. If I'm a coach, I'm rolling with "next man up." I have too much respect for the kids who put in the hard work from day one within the program. I also would have too much respect for other coaches to actively go after their players. Not gonna lie, I'd do some recruiting at the middle school level. Those kids are free game in my opinion. First_Backer_Inside...........thanks for your insights.
  4. Agree. It's rendered bowl games boring and irrelevant. But if I'm a kid, I'm getting paid. Period. However. Does the university have the right to say, "finish the season, or pay back all of the tuition and room and board that was provided to you with your agreement to play football"? Of course smart kid would take the NFL money and pay back the university, but I would think that type of verbiage would be fair when the player signs his letter of intent.
  5. Case in point: Adams Central. Enrollment 408.
  6. I'm not oblivious to the fact that some kids move because they have to. Or that some kids move because they are in a toxic situation. I'm ok with that. But I have no respect for a coach that actively pilfers another high school coach's players. Most times we don't know the back story. All I'm saying, is that where it exists, shame on that coach.
  7. I think so. When you enter high school, you know you're now competing with a whole new crop of kids. I just hate to see a kid put in two or three years of hard work only to be told, "nah, we're bringing in someone else."
  8. I guess just start telling 5th graders not to bother. "No son, you're way to feminine. I'm not paying for you to play soccer." Work with the kids you have. My neighborhood vs yours.
  9. I just don't get it. What do you tell the QB, RB, and S who were all in line to get their opportunity? "Sorry, you're not good enough, so we're bringing someone in." I don't like it. I won't harp on it. To each their own. I've already eliminated 70% of my sports out of my life, 100% is right around the corner.
  10. So what is this telling competitors in 6A? Ditch the "next man up" approach and go out and get players in order to win state titles? I don't think that's fair to the kids who have been with the program from the beginning. But hey, win first, kids second. Egos are out of control.
  11. I understood. You saw the writing on the wall before most, so kudos to you. I can justify the high ranking considering the circumstances, but how high? People felt WC was loaded last year going into Week 1, but expectations fell short. I think Warren Central's major hurdle is coaching turnover. There doesn't seem to be much stability in that department. I think a program becomes 100% reliant on athletes. Programs aren't built over night, in fact, it can take years to get to a point where you're reloading directly from the pipeline that you built. I think Center Grove is a good example of that out of the Indy area. Moore wasn't winning when he first started at the rate he is now. Same could be said for Hart at Brownsburg. Gilbert at Westfield. Michael Kelly seems to be on his way at HSE. Now you have guys like Kirschner and Curry (Elkhart) who are trying to get rich over night. Maybe I'm wrong. As always, I'll defer to the Indy guys on this.
  12. So Warren went out and got a RB, QB, and a S? Sounds like they're doing what they need to do to be what Ben Davis was last year. Yet another challenge the smaller schools have to face. Not only are these mega's massively larger than their competition, they are amping it up with transfers...........ouch! And here I thought Mike Kirschner was a good enough coach using the resources already given to him. If you can't win with x's and o's, might as well do it with the Jimmys and Joes.
  13. I guess we'll see. Snider starts a new QB, new RB, and four new faces on the offensive line.
  14. I'd like to hear a coach's perspective on this. With the amount of scrimmages and 7 on 7's teams tend to play in the summer now adays, I would imagine they are more prepared in Week 1 than we are giving them credit for?
  15. It's a pipe dream more than likely.
  16. I don't see either offense putting up big numbers like Snider did last year. I think this game comes down to special teams and turnovers. It could be that kickoff return for a touchdown that decides it.
  17. Anyone got a stick of dynamite I can borrow? There is one particular lake in Northern Indiana where only ONE boat drives around donning their university flag and loudly plays their university fight song.
  18. That's how Dwenger is, primarily from their parish community. Luers also draws from their own community, but also tends to draw more from the inner city by way of vouchers and also small towns like Roanoke and Huntington. It's that "everywhere" that gives Cathedral a major advantage. I have the upmost respect for that program. They've built a program that kids want to be a part of. Agree 100% from a teenagers point of view. I think Cathedral is a great program, I just like to see great programs pile up against one another as a fan.
  19. I guess if they don't win tournament games in 6A they'll bump back down. The problem is, they continue to win at that level. I've said it in the past and I'll say it again. It's sweeter to win once every one or two decades knowing you did it against the best than winning multiples at the lower level. Of course I'd think differently if I were an administrator at a school since deep tournament runs drive the the financial health of the athletic department. Personally, if I were a Cathedral fan, I'd be bored out of my mind if they were anywhere other than 6A.
  20. I think putting the P/P's all in the same tournament is an awful idea. Chances are that Cathedral will run off 8+ state titles before they are upended. And per your other post, Cathedral is where they belong in 6A. They're not there because they have the exact same resources as the other 4A schools. Take it for what it's worth. Be proud that the program you follow is good enough to roll with the big boys. As a Snider fan, I find rumbling with 6A teams more interesting than and easier path in 5A. But that's just me.
  21. Hard for me to chime in not knowing about either of those two programs.
  22. So tell me how schools like East Noble and Cathedral are on a level playing field? Kendallville city proper has 10,222 residents (2022) and a small portion of the surrounding area. Damn, Cathedral can pull from anywhere. And honestly, if I lived in Indy and my son had potential to go to the next level, he's not going to ANY of the public schools. He's going to Cathedral, Roncalli, or Chatard. First choice would be Cathedral.
  23. C'mon. Easy to say coming from a program that can pull from a metro area of 2.5 million. Let's give some of these rural schools a break.
