  1. No, you are definitely not. I can vouch for that. Outside of HS football and some of your opinions there, you and I are actually pretty simpatico. Man....that kind of stung to say.....
  2. Regardless how close Sags might be to determining how these games might play out, I marvel at times to just how predisposed folks who know better are inclined to the default that bigger schools automatically are going to defeat smaller school. If 2A Mater Dei can compete effectively and even outright win the SIAC against much bigger schools (and no one gives it even a second thought) then why is a stretch to imagine Southridge doing so? Especially a Southridge team that has won the 2A State Championship and defeated Mater Dei on the way? Why don’t folks just assume they could compete in the SIAC as effectively as Mater Dei? edit. Believe me, some of the 5A Sectionals around the state should thank God there aren’t some decent 2A teams playing in them.
  3. Yeah......and I am not optimistic. I can envision the razor wire going up on the county line perimeter. I’m scheduled to spend the first week in December at Disney with every in-law for ten generations and then go back to Florida a couple of weeks later. In all honesty, if it wasn’t for a seriously ailing aunt in Connersville that I am really close to and a Mom with dementia in Indy, my wife and I would just stay there through April. At this point, both of us pretty much run our individual business/jobs by phone and laptop anyway....and if I need to do something in Indy involving real human contact I have enough people that can stand in for me that I can do it from most anywhere.
  4. Running clock games were the norm last year during the regular season with Cathedral (as a losing effort) probably the only exception. Yeah, last year’s group played fast and the conditions at Concordia last Fall took a little getting used to.
  5. Yep.....I’m afraid of the same.
  6. I’d just emphasize to everyone that this year’s Trojan squad is different than last year’s. Last year’s group could put 21 on you if you blinked your eyes. This year’s group is a little more methodical. One big difference this year will be the field. It was grass last year and it was pretty wet and muddy. It really slowed down both teams last year.
  7. Yeah....there seems to be some disagreement about that.
  8. Heck...I was at the ACME last year. I had the chili and a tenderloin. Enjoy your time visiting your daughter near Butler (my Alma Mater).
  9. Honestly, when the IHSAA set up the “new” 5A, the only legit team was Snider....and they bumped up and down between 5A and 6A.
  10. If I wasn’t already committed to attend Chatard/Concordia, I’d be watching or looking for whatever tickets @Impartial_Observer might be able to finagle for that game. I think it’s the Game of the Week.
  11. Naw...it was actually reassuring to me that you were still around....otherwise I wouldn’t have even noticed.....lapdogs get so little credit...deservedly.
  12. Thanks....errr...seems to me someone else here has some certain soreness... I’m just a happy panther.
  13. My butt is fine.....”panther-like” I’ve been told....whatever that might mean.....I’ll take it as a compliment, though..
  14. So I deserve a medal too? This just gets better and better.
  15. Wow....you’re taking credit for that? I thought megalomania was something I only read about as regards Dr. Doom in the Fantastic Four.............when I was 8.
  16. Yeah...think I’m there too. That said...not entirely sure which 2 teams, though. Seriously though, I would NOT want to play Roncalli at this point of the season. They lost early to Chatard but have won some tough, tough games. They beat a “relatively” healthy East Central at season's end pretty definitively. Seriously thinking they might well show up at Lucas Oil.
  17. Muda....thanks for the downtick it reminds me of the good old days when we fought like cats and dogs and you had some semblance of a spine. Makes me sad seeing you a lapdog for DT....feel for ya’.
  18. Raking my leaves is a noble cause. You throwing crap on a wall is....well.... just something else distracting that I need to clean up as I rake my leaves.
  19. My only cause is to not favor lunacy and shy from self-aggrandizement. Consider me obsequious. You?
  20. How many angels can dance on the head of a pin? Seems a roughly equivalent question.
  21. My recollection as well was that Concordia was almost all underclassmen last year. “Mudder” game last year. And, yes, that 2016 Concordia team truly was a beast. Nobody was going to get close to them in 3A that year. Honestly felt bad that Lawrenceburg from my old HS conference drew the short straw against them that year.
  22. Think I’m in love. Edit.....In a manly way.
  23. The SAC is a heckuva conference but it’s a mystery to an extent as to how good it is at the top until several weeks into playoffs. With that, both Concordia and Luers surviving amongst the sharks in the SAC always means they are solid and battle proven.....regardless of record. That August 28 Homestead/Concordia score of 7-0 tells me most everything I need to know and fear (as a dumb fan, admittedly) about just how well Concordia can play. Homestead is only 2 games away from playing in the 6A State Championship....yet Concordia took them to the wire.
  24. Honestly....and brutally, when the IHSAA split 5A and created 6A and a “new” 5A, I chuckled. Actually, laughed hysterically. How could the IHSAA not see the inevitable (actually, they may have already known)? Certainly Cathedral did as the first 4A team to feast on the “new” 5A banquet of minnows. The concept (I assume) was to give a trophy to some school in that “new” 5A class since they had long pissed and moaned about how they would be great excepting the MIC, HCC, etc., etc.,......basically any teams above them. In looking at those teams, with the exception of Snider (when it’s population occasionally dipped down into 5A), it was a “ne’er do well” class. No real tradition of success or competitiveness overall going back the last 25 or so years. Literally, the weakest schools pound for pound in the State. They had been GIFTED their own class....and even then they failed. Guess what? They got chewed up and spit out first by 4A Cathedral. Then 4A Columbus East and 4A New Pal feasted. Just get rid of 5A entirely and average them out over the 4 classes below and go back to 5 classes. There is no competitive reason not to do it since they are not and have never been (excepting Snider) competitive with the existing 4A teams.
