I retract all statements I might have made in the past in defense of a certain south side parochial.

Well, “ahem”, I was attending a dinner party last night and not the Quarterback Club so I have nothing to offer (nor any knowledge of injuries) excepting cliches so….here we go: ”Next man up” ”It’s a team sport, there are eleven key players each fulfilling their role” (I made that one up) ”We shall endeavor to persevere” (Chief Dan George in “The Outlaw Josey Wales”….one of my favs) Please feel free to insert your cliche of choice.

I’ll be attending my first live game tonight (been away), meanwhile you’re a sportscasting star of stage and screen (and radio) these days.

Reasonably good chance of that next year but I don’t track points like I used to.

If agreements mean nothing then I guess it’s baloney. Guess I forgot the “baloney” exclusions part of my Contracts class.

This has been explained 1000 times. I’m seeing some annual pot stirring by CJ in this post. It had to do with an agreement reached by the Archdiocese schools, Brebeuf, Guerin and, originally, Cathedral. It wasn’t about Catholic v Non-Catholic enrollment- it had everything to do with how athletes in CYO schools could be contacted and how they could not. Coaches could talk to CYO teams as a whole in favor of coming to their school but no recruiting individually by coaches…no phone calls, etc. Archdiocese schools were limited to their feeder schools but the non-Arccdiocese had no limitation EXCEPTING there was to be no direct INDIVIDUAL contact. Coach L back in the day couldn’t even individually promote Chatard football or talk in any way about it to kids on the Spring day they signed up for classes at Chatard. I know it because I witnessed it on the day of sign-up. All these schools had agreed to it until Cathedral reneged. Roncalli responded as they did because of it. As much as I am not so “down” with the Royals rename I totally respected Roncalli’s decision back then….still do.

Well, I think we have a clear favorite to win 4A.

I won’t even begin to speculate. This was/is the much vaunted Freshman team (I think I even saw it mentioned on another thread here recently) from 4 years ago that took New Pal to OT as Sophs….yet beats Roncalli early last year as Juniors only to lose to them in playoffs last season. Football is a fickle God….so are kids.

Unless HH spoils the show for Roncalli, I’m giving odds that the State Championship game will feature the two teams that opened the season against one another: Dwenger v Roncalli.
