    Oh... and another thing...

It's hard to believe in 2019 that nobody is broadcasting video of the Cathedral / Chatard game. I'm biased, but seems like this should be the IHSAAtv game of the week.

It is the Game of the Week on WHMB 40 (an Indy religious channel), I believe.  Webcast is live and the TV broadcast is at 10:00 Friday.  Ironically, a couple of weeks ago, Chatard played NorthWood on WHME (a South Bend religious channel) for their South Bend Game of the Week.

I believe Howard Kellman (sp?) of the Indianapolis Indians will be one of the two commentators.

  2. Thanks again Foobird for doing this.

Looks like HC is better than a thought and Covington Christian not as good as I thought.

    This week:

BJ over Ritter.  I think Ritter is down this year....way down.  Could be a beat down.

    CC over Attucks

    GC over HC.

Chatard v Roncalli.  Likely close.  I’ll go with Chatard.  I don’t think this game determines the CCC winner.  Thinking GC will have something to say on the matter.

Yeah I wouldn’t put GS ahead of WL just yet. Heritage hills is also probably better than Reitz...and all of 3A is better than 4A minus like 3 teams

Tend to agree in principle.  The top of 3A was definitely better than the top of 4A last year.  Whether that is the case this year remains to be seen.  It’s still way, way early.....

Automatic deference to 4A teams is problematic to me particularly when historic powers in 4A (Cathedral, CE and Dwenger) and the “relatively” new power in 4A (New Pal) are all now in 5A.......4A just ain’t what it used to be.  The inference is that the second tier teams in 4A (if 4A was unaffected by the Success Factor) are better than the upper end 3A teams - which hasn’t been the case historically and seems doubly incorrect now in light of the fact that 3A is  (or has been the last few years) probably the best class pound for pound.

West Lafayette is likely either at or near the top of this ranking.  They lost a hard fought game to 6A Lafayette Jeff who may be a top 10 team in the State.

This loss somehow makes WL 7th in this grouping?

    No way.

I find it ironic that in the other thread about the overall rankings it has now (finally) become accepted (even popular) to say that New Pal, as a team almost 1/4 the size of the largest schools in the State, could be the best team in the State (not sure I am there yet this year, personally, but I have argued almost alone in years past that I believed they were the best team in the state -  just too early to tell so far) yet we fall back into the same old fallacy that 4A is always better than 3A,  3A is always better than 2A, etc...

Lafayette Central Catholic (0-1) at Guerin Catholic (1-0) - The Bishop's trophy will stay in Noblesville. Guerin by 1-2 TDs?
Indianapolis Chatard (1-0) at NorthWood (1-0) - Chatard by 2 TDs.
Franklin Central (1-0) at Indianapolis Roncalli (0-1) - A tough week 2 matchup for the Rebels. FC in a close one?
Indianapolis Tech (1-0) at Brebeuf Jesuit (0-1) - Brebeuf by 10 pts
Traders Point Christian (1-0) at Covenant Christian (1-0) - CC over TPC FTW OK?
Shenandoah (0-1) at Heritage Christian (1-0) Shenandoah hung with Scecina last week... maybe a tough outing for HC?

College football starts tonight and really kicks off this weekend. I'm about to overdose on gridiron.

Going to agree.  Thanks for doing this, btw.

@Lysander    Great  so if i decide to make the trip week 9 there will be home and away bleachers. Not that i wouldn't enjoy sitting with chatard fans but it would seem odd sharing bleachers . I think there are a few instances in the state where that is the reality but i cannot remember which schools only have one side stands..  Last years contest between bhss and chs was not a good one for south. Hopefully it will be a better game this year.

Yep.  There will definitely be home and away bleachers during football season.

Looking at chatard's football stadium on google maps. Do they not have visitors stands?

The pictured bleachers are actually intended to be the “Away” bleachers once the permanent bleachers are constructed.

The last 2 years the “Home” bleachers have been rentals and are only there during football.  The rest of the year the “Away” bleachers are shared.

Permanent “Home” bleachers are scheduled to go in next year as I understand.

Actually I knew most of it. I have driven past the Jug Rock since I was a kid with my parents and grand parents, I've heard the story a thousand times.

I learned about Clarksville in MS history.

I would still suggest contacting @Lysander in the early morning hours.....ask him about any subject, it's certain to be entertaining.

Lew Wallace Jr. High (Brookville) 7th Grade - “Ticks”

Lew Wallace Jr. High (Brookville) 8th Grade - “Fleas”

Unfortunately “Tapeworm” and “Maggot” must have been taken.

PS - IO, check the time stamp on this post.
