  1. My wife says to me, "I feel that we are overrated at #2"....which I agree with. A win Friday night (which we will have to play better football than we have played all year to pull off), then I feel that it is deserved.
  2. I'll throw this in here for giggles. I feel like we will need to play better football than we have played all year to win this game. HH vs Gibson Southern Friday, September 22nd 7:00 pm CST Kickoff @ Jack Jewell Memorial Stadium History Of The Matchup Heritage Hills (5-0) @ Gibson Southern (3-2) Gibson Southern High School Jack Jewell Memorial Stadium Friday, September 22, 2023 7:00 pm CST Kickoff This is the 50th meeting between Heritage Hills and Gibson Southern; Heritage Hills leads the overall series 33-16. The Patriots also faced three teams that consolidated into Gibson Southern High School in the 1972 and 1973 seasons. Heritage Hills went 0-2 vs Fort Branch, 1-1 vs Haubstadt and 2-0 vs Owensville. In the first season of Patriot Football, the Patriots went 9-1 and their only loss was to Fort Branch (15-12). The Titans won the first three meetings in the series by beating Roger Snow’s Patriots in 1974, 1975 and 1976. The Patriots didn’t beat the Titans for the first time until 1977, which was the year Bob Ashworth became the Patriots Head Coach. The 1977 season was Bob Clayton's only season as Offensive Coordinator at Heritage Hills before he stepped into the Head Coach role. The following season Ashworth moved onto Evansville Reitz and Clayton took over the Heritage Hills program. The Titans have won 12 of the last 18 meetings starting with a win in 2010 that snapped the Patriots streak of 21 straight wins over the Titans. Heritage Hills and Gibson Southern have played 5 overtime games in the series including a 7-0 five overtime affair in 1982. Head to Fort Branch this Friday night to cheer on our PATRIOTS AND MAKE SOME NOISE! 3. I am going to give much credit to North Posey. I'm guessing they are going to give Southridge all they want. Great team. If not for a couple penalties and a couple mental errors, this could have been a different outcome. @Cappy Good luck in sectionals....that is a good team and I'm really glad for a couple slip ups....
  4. I thought that I might say this same thing out loud, but I'd definitely say that you are correct. I know, we are being mean being so presumptive ....but we have Washington, Princeton and Mt. Vernon left.
  5. They did something new on the field for the night instead of the typical HH, hope we keep doing this, looks really good. Paint crew did a great job.
  6. Like you, we have learned that you only need 11 guys to play football. It's tough, but it has to work when you don't have a choice.
  7. Yeah, constantly made me puke in my mouth a bit. 😆
  8. Bob Clayton (320-74) He could take a normal, average athlete kid and squeeze every ounce out of him. Back in those days, the lineman weighed a max of 170-180 lbs and would shred kids 100 lbs heavier--he formed drive in those kids. But, things were different then, he had some coaching techniques that you couldn't get away with in today's world. Somewhat unorthodox. 🙂
  9. Yeah, we literally only had a couple losses in the regular season in that entire decade (00-09). The previous year ('04) we beat Chatard and should have won state, there are those that would say that '04 team was better than the team that won state in 2000. That was a special time. Bob pulled off something in a 10 year period that I don't know if has really been duplicated in rural public school football in Indiana.
  10. Isn't Boyle ranked #1 overall in the state? As far as the media goes, it is crazy how fickle they are....if only Randall Parmley was still around, he worshipped the ground that GS walked on.
  11. This is the 2nd 🙂 most interesting game in the PAC this week. I find it extraordinarily odd that it isn't getting more attention.
  12. I thought I'd give this it's own thread. It is a big night in Lincoln City. We have a battle of the unbeatens on homecoming and we have the dedication for the Bob Clayton (320-74) Hall of Fame Plaza. Should be a packed night. Dedication Night On Friday, September 15th, we will officially dedicate the Bob Clayton Hall of Fame Plaza and also honor one of the best all-time high school football coaches in the nation. A winning tradition, current successes and hopeful future are all things that we want to focus on at all times when it comes to Patriot Football. This project will help us effectively establish a permanent landmark to showcase the great history of Patriot Football, while providing past, present and future Patriots a place to gather, reminisce, dream and cheer on our Patriot Football teams in seasons to come. Bob Clayton (320-74) With that said, former Patriot Football Head Coach, Bob Clayton, has made a tremendous impact on so many people and the success of the program. Please join us prior to kickoff (approx. 6:30pm CST), as we welcome Bob Clayton back to The Jungle and show our appreciation for the culture he has built within the Patriot Football program! 13. Not all of us get that fancy smancy education where we learn to spell.
  14. Yeah, I think we will be ok. I am still puzzled by the Southridge game week 1. We have a good team, but are we 30 points better than a 20 senior Southridge team? No, we don't believe so and we aren't so naive that we think the likely 2nd meeting in sectional will roll the exact same way. This team is good and a completely different team than last year and it is a credit to chemistry. NP has a great team and I am anxious to see what we can do against them. If you have see the film from the Southridge game you will see that things were sloppy on both sides in the first half, that momentum could have shifted with the turnovers that we had. 2nd half we just absolutely torched them and it got away from them. Make no mistake--I really don't believe that is representative of Southridge now.
  15. I'm a bit puzzled as well. 2 big games. Not much to say. I feel pretty good about where we are, but it will answer some questions for me when we get an out come Friday night. Now, the kids don't have the luxury of looking ahead, but we do....HOW ABOUT NEXT WEEK? J/K....I can wait till Monday.
  16. There will be plenty of homicide in Rockport Friday night HH vs South Spencer Friday, September 8th 7:00 pm CST Kickoff @ Fred Ayer Field - Reo, IN History Of The Matchup Heritage Hills (3-0) @ South Spencer (1-2) Fred Ayer Field - Reo, IN Friday, September 8, 2023 7:00 pm CST Kickoff This is the 53rd meeting between Heritage Hills and South Spencer. The Patriots lead the overall series 40-12. This season the Patriots are averaging 46.3 ppg (points per game) and giving up 13.3 ppg, while the Rebels average 20.7 ppg and are giving up 27.3 ppg. Defensively, our Patriots are leading the turnover battle 11-5 in three games and continue to make big plays when needed. The 12 wins that South Spencer has over Heritage Hills is second to Southridge for the most wins of any opponent against the Patriots. South Spencer is one of only three teams that have been on the Patriot football schedule at least once, every year, since their inaugural season in 1972. Like many of the Patriot's opponents, the Rebels dominated the Patriots in the early days of the series winning 5 of the first 7 meetings. The Patriots went on to win 4 of the next 5 games to tie the series up at 6-6. The Rebels would regain the series lead 7-6 with an overtime win in 1984 and the series would remain tightly contested through the first 21 meetings. After a Rebel win in 1991, the Patriots led the series by a slim 11-10 margin. After that loss the Patriots won the next 19 meetings before the Rebels ended the streak with a 14-0 win in 2011. The Patriots have won 10 out of the last 11 games since the loss in 2011. Hit the road this Friday and head to Reo to cheer for the RED, WHITE, & BLUE!
