  1. Indeed Tanner is a very Sellers type QB. Sellers was special, not to mention a great kid.....his little brother should be a freshman now, no? He was a little guy last time I saw him, but SURELY he plays football. Last time I saw him was on the basketball court in middle school.
  2. Logan Wilkerson was the best QB that we have had since the Clayton era ended. He wasn't as fast and shifty as Cole Sigler, but he was the best all around QB that we have had in the last 10 years. Cool, collected kid, could throw well and would burn you if you flushed him. That is not to be dogging on anybody else at the QB spot, it just is what it is.
  3. A couple things, it may be the D-line and the LBs slouching a bit, but Jett absolutely flies to the ball and never takes a play off. The kid ain't scared, but he ain't got whooped by the bearded man that you mention above yet....after all he is a boy playing with men. Odd year? Yes, it seems that way.
  4. QB change? I'd say that ship has sailed. But you know that is a discussion.
  5. As has been stated, that was just as you said, a rumor. Around here, we knew that he wouldn't get a shot at it so I think that was just the talk outside of the area. The kid that everyone thought might get a shot at QB is a sophomore, I am not sure he got a shot....dunno about that. Goldsberry only has got in on offense a few times and has carried the ball once, and well, we saw how that went. I said something to him about it the next week and he told me that he told Todd, "Give me the ball and I will score." LOL--he doesn't lack confidence. We don't often play freshman on offense....it is extremely rare, Clayton started freshman Cole Seifrig on Defense (20 years ago), but not on offense....he was likely the fastest kid on the field over all. Kenton Crews... Of course Jay, but he wasn't QB. Jett is playing at a level above virtually everyone on the field. You will see a bunch of him, next year. And yes he is leading the team in tackles, but he is doing that as a DB not a linebacker. That is impressive. Put the kid at linebacker and see where that number goes--way ↑.
  6. I hear what you are saying but your county rivalry has gone the way of our county rivalry. It isn't much of a rivalry when you blow them out year after year. It has gotten to the point that it isn't even a rivalry game. "Having Mt V, HH, GS, Boon, SR in the big school division would be a lot of fun to follow"--EXACTLY--now that would be good.
  7. I think I speak for the Southridge community when I say that they would love to be in the large school division. I have a ton of friends, people i work with, go to church with, from Huntingburg and ALL of them would rather play in the big school division. They would love to have Washington or Princeton swap with them.
  8. As been stated, if we could have an overall PAC winner this is it. I can tell you that Southridge is still VERY salty that they are in the small school side of the PAC. While a loss doesn't hurt either team for their respective conference, they feel like they got something to prove. I would love to go to this game.
  9. I figured it was something like that with the mountain of yards you had.
  10. Indeed. Boonville turned over the ball 4 times against SR. SR only won 13-0. Boonville had a TOTAL of 29 yards on offense. They must have a good defense. TC has got some things going for them, I expect them to beat FP. NP and SR could be the game to see. The rest of the games are pretty obvious....South Spencer will pick up one of their couple wins. MV will destroy Princeton and Gibson Southern will decimate the Hatchets, their children will feel that loss.
  11. FP by a score or 2 HH by a bunch GS by 2 scores, maybe 3 T by a million NP, not close MV by a million SR--this will be close. Maybe a toss up. Logansport
  12. A freshman starting at DT? That guy must be an animal. We started one freshman at S.....actually led the team in tackles Friday night.
  13. If Brady has a little brother he better be able to double as a Safety!!!
  14. Totally agree, it is the expectation every year. This year seems a bit different and almost weird with the media, but again, it is all good. We like the stat that we have won more PAC championships than the rest of the PAC combined since HH has been a school.....we don't want to lose that...I totally get it. Again, things seem different.....normally that expectation stays in the family for a few weeks, it doesn't need to be conveyed because, historically speaking, it will get proved out as we move through the next several weeks. Again, none of our thoughts on here really matter......let's just go win some games.
  15. You said what I was trying to say, but said it better. It puts the pressure on HH for a "must win" game. We all know if you are going to win the PAC you can NOT have a single conference loss. All this puts a chip on the shoulder of MV. Looking forward to Friday.
  16. There is quite a bit of history of between us and Jasper....there aren't too many teams that have the dislike for each other than we do. We both hated that we had to quit playing. The series between us is 11-10 (HH has one game on them), so they may be salty about that. They look like they normally do. Impressively big, disciplined. Talk funny. Same ol, same ol.
  17. The expectation obviously must be set, but this seems to be different. It's all good and my opinion doesn't matter....we will see where we are Friday night. No doubt he is excellent. I was surprised to learn his age last year.
  18. I'm just going to go ahead and say it out loud in front of everybody. There has been quite a bit of talk, and with all this talk be better beat Mt. Vernon Friday night by 2 or 3 scores. It is not typically our thing to come out of the gate running off at the mouth this much. If we have the rear end to back it up, well, great....if not, just stop. It seems every media video/article has been, as you say, the same consistent message. I was up close and personal for the scrimmage against Jasper Friday night, and I liked the way we looked (with a couple weaknesses), but the truth has yet to be seen.
  19. Thursday for all but 2 games which are on Saturday, that is because of travel.
  20. We are feeling pretty good this year with 21 freshman--20 on the roster as 1 is playing varsity. 20 is a pretty good number for a public 3A. With that said, when you get smaller than 4A, a freshman team can become difficult to schedule. Half of our freshman schedule is made up of odd teams because so many smaller schools don't have freshman teams. Except for the private schools where 40% to 50% of the males are playing football...for example, our freshman have Mater Dei on the schedule. Only 3 of our freshman games are PAC schools.
  21. Agreed, no doubt they (GS) are in a great spot. Success breeds success. Until last year, they really hadn't really brought much home...a couple regionals, and a sectional (or something like that). For the last 4 years, just couldn't make that hurdle of sectional until last year where it rolled all the way through LOS. However, with this huge success, in my opinion, GS is going to have many years of success. May even have that coveted opportunity to get their butts kicked by Chatard once or twice (if Chatard stays in 3A). DumfriesYMCA and Titan32, please see that has playful prodding, kind of....you have had the experience once, you will get it again. It is frustrating.....we are 1-7 against them (I think) and some of those games were horribly close. They are 1 of just a couple teams in the state that have a winning record against us. Bottom line is GS will be a steamroller for a while with no end in sight.....
  22. Really about the smallest number of seniors that I can recall in recent history is about 8. Next year's senor class will likely be a very small one maybe less than 8. Like has already been mentioned, it really hasn't mattered, at least historically speaking. When necessary, Clayton would move a 160 lb Junior to Guard and tell him to commit homicide and the kid would do just that. Things are different now, offense is different, it is much more complex now, pro set, flex bone, yadda yadda....I'm just a crusty old guy that says get your guys in the most ridiculous shape possible and pound the ball down the throat with the wishbone. We used to be conditioned to have 15 or so guys do it all, because we had to. But I'm dated and everything is different. That is not a shot at any person or system at HH, I love the staff, it is just different and some of us have a tendency to live in the past--so don't interpret any of that as some kind of slam. Speaking of past, I know a grad from HH 30 years ago that went into the Marine Corps and said that boot camp was a joke next to Clayton's practices. That is NOT a shot at the Marines, so please don't go down that road. With that said, I'm confident that Bob wouldn't be able to coach today in the current culture...it is a different time. When you talk about team chemistry being in the DNA, it unfortunately isn't. We need our swagger back, I'm hoping that comes back soon. Many on this forum have no idea what HH football was 2 decades ago, that swagger just ain't there--but again, I'm hopeful that it will return. Personally, in the last 35 years, I have not seen ANY high school football team with the attitude of the late 80s - late 2000s Patriots, and may never again.
  23. He could sling a ball something fierce...but what many don't know is that he was more fun to watch on defense and special teams than offense (at least for me)....oh well....back to scrimmages. I am curious to see how we stack up to Reitz on Thursday.
