Indeed, huge gain for them. He was great for us but Southridge is home for him, nobody blames him for going back. Mount Vernon did well with him for the short time they had him as well.

I'll stick up for Southridge as there are many people that are very dear to me in Huntingburg....I root for them every week but week 4. My son is even close friends with the QB (Justin Leathers), at least until Friday. They have a very young team, they lack size and as stated by jets, numbers. Experienced talent is there, but that number is just a few. Give them a couple years, Coach B will get them back on track. With that said, they may suck in the regular season and may even have a very out of character losing season, but I don't think I would sleep on them in the sectional. 9 weeks may be just what Coach B needs to right the ship. But for now, the next 2 Friday nights are likely going to suck for them. Go Raiders! Except for 9/12....

Indeed. What is the purpose? This is an excellent question. Nobody that I know thinks it is smart. A friend at South Spencer told me that they find this utterly ridiculous as well...."how many times do we have to hear that stupid train horn Friday night?" I heard thru the grapevine that this is the last year. I hope so. Most of us would rather lose a game having our weaknesses exposed so we can learn rather than beating a team like SS 56-0. As you said, it helps nobody. With all that said, 20 - 25 years ago this was a great rivalry. Now it is just awful. Hopefully the rumors are true and this is the last year. The Patriots lead the overall series 42-12. The 12 wins that South Spencer has over Heritage Hills is second to Southridge for the most wins of any opponent against the Patriots. South Spencer is one of only three teams that have been on the Patriot football schedule at least once, every year, since their inaugural season in 1972. Like many of the Patriot's opponents, the Rebels dominated the Patriots in the early days of the series winning 5 of the first 7 meetings. The Patriots went on to win 4 of the next 5 games to tie the series up at 6-6. The Rebels would regain the series lead 7-6 with an overtime win in 1984 and the series would remain tightly contested through the first 21 meetings. Yes. That is Varsity Roster, includes Sophomore - Senior. Not a terribly uncommon number for us.

I did not--I was at work. My wife was there. My son said they were wore out....said FC had well over 100 kids on the roster (we have 38) and they were calling in squads every few plays--fresh guys. I told him it builds character. 🙂 Did you see it?

I'm hoping we can get the Jasper/HH rivalry back. Not sure that is going to happen though.....

There is some truth there, but he supposedly went back to Georgia. It is a convoluted, nonsensical story...it's over now. Thankfully. We are all moving on with life in Lincoln City.

I agree....I think. I was speaking more to numbers on the roster and players having to play both ways. Pending big injuries I think you are right. What you have said we have all said but as always, got to stay healthy.

Additionally, it is hard for many at the big schools to think about the fact that our QB will also likely be one of our top 3 tacklers.

Understand when I say "most of those teams haven't heard of us", I mean the children. I would say that most 17 year olds at Merrilville have no clue who Heritage Hills is. Agreed, any person who claims any knowledge at all about Indiana high school football should know who we are, and likely probably knows who Bob Clayton is. 5A/6A football is a different world when it comes to numbers. The only 3A program I know that gets numbers like that is Chatard. Chatard has been successful for many reasons, one being their 320 lb guard isn't a DT as well....

I understand, but there is a gaping chasm between 3A and 4A....that will be tested this year as we move to 4A. If we can make it out of sectional, and stay healthy, we will see what happens when our 280+ lb two way players play guys that not only have fresh legs but backups to boot. We got a little taste yesterday against a 5A in a scrimmage. They were putting out fresh guys every 5 plays or so, our guys went the distance. We have I think 38 on the varsity roster--they had over 100. I tell my son that it is good for him--builds character.

I would venture a guess that 90% of the teams on that list have never even heard of us.

Of course that is this year while they are still at Heritage Hills....I'm sure they will be watching that game together and it turn into a bit of a thing. 2026 when they will be on campus? Who knows, that isn't released yet...but again, red shirt possibility.

They play on October 25th - I would think if this is where they actually end up going that they both would be red shirted, but time will tell.

It appears that Yates wouldn't be eligible to play until week 5 or 6 under the new rule. Several years ago, we had a basketball xfer from Central that was supposed to be the greatest thing on the planet, I can't remember if he ever played. We will see....I did see that Yates has some very impressive track times. He is an athlete for sure. He used to wear #3--he will need to find a new number! 😂

On the list of fears that anybody may have of HH this season, I'd argue that wouldn't be close to the top. I am throwing no shade on the kid above, I have no idea of his abilities--for all I know he may show up week 1 for his first practice and challenge Jett for his spot.

I asked my son about him and his initial response was "who's that?" I explained and he said, oh, I've heard of him.... He hasn't been at workouts, my kid (a senior) hasn't seen him. He said he doesn't even know if he is playing. Time will tell I guess.

Negative. But if you look at what would be the "biggest" offer, Jett has an offer from Ole Miss and Ty has an offer from Oklahoma.

I literally had this conversation about 15 minutes ago. There are quite a few more significant programs that have extended the offer.
