  1. They’ve won 5 games in 3 years…
  2. Those guys all need to form their own conference. I get it would be a logistical nightmare, but for football’s sake it needs to happen. Makes too much sense from a competitive standpoint. -Snider -Carroll -Homestead -Elkhart -Penn -Lake Central -Crown Point -Valpo
  3. You’re being generous. Avon has been largely terrible the last 4-5 seasons. And that’s saying something given Avon would be one of the better teams in the DAC.
  4. Or the randomness of a single elimination tournament…
  5. Rebuilding is generous as Avon has been largely terrible for the last 4-5 years. Which is saying something because they’d be one of the better teams in the DAC.
  6. Fluke to be in semi-state? They played nobody for 3 months, as typically is the case for whoever comes out of sectional 1/2.
  7. Crown Point won in 2OT man. Let’s not act like this was a woodshed game. Had CP dominated from start to finish this conversation likely isn’t taking place. And I’ve given you several practical reasons as to why Westfield wasn’t playing in their third straight 6A title and it adds up to just not being their “night”. Credit Crown Point for that.
  8. Again, I don't think it's the difference in winning and losing. But most coaches are creatures of habit and their teams usually follow suit. It disrupts a normal routine, ie how they warm up, when they warm up, stuff that happens prior to taking the field, etc. Westfield didn't lose because of the bus ride, I think I've already said that.
  9. If Westfield played Crown Point 10 times last year, how many do you think they win? I'll go with 7 based on Sagarin's projection leading up to the game. I trust his data a lot more than the transitive property or extrapolation based on a singular data point. But that's the beauty of a one off, single elimination game; throw the records out the window. They don't matter. I don't think it's the difference in winning and losing, at least in Westfield's case. But one team had to travel 2.5 in a bus and the other team didn't, so there is a "difference" regardless of how much it factored into the final outcome.
  10. Going 1-0 against the HCC in a winner take all elimination game is entirely different than going 9-1 against the HCC which was Westfield's record against all HCC opponents.
  11. Has anyone actually claimed that Westfield had an off-night? Rather I've seen several posters come to the consensus that Crown Point was the better team that night and deserved to win. However, and correct me if I'm wrong, you're the poster who claimed Crown Point would have been the second best team in the HCC based on one result? Again extrapolation to this degree doesn't always work the way you think it does.
  12. Lol there's plenty of reasons why it could apply: 1) 1 team has to take a 2.5 hour bus drive to play 2) 1 team is dealing with wear and tear having played one of the hardest schedules in the state for 3 months straight while the other has had a relative coast all the way up to their biggest game of the year 3) Most importantly, we're talking abut 15, 16, 17 year old high school-aged kids where anything can happen on any given night. Crown Point undoubtedly deserved to win their game against Westfield, but extrapolating one result against the best team they had played to date all year doesn't always hold water.
  13. Why? It's perfectly fine to use when applicable. Absolutely no shame in saying Crown Point was better than Westfield on that night. Do I think if Crown Point played a full HCC schedule and then Carmel, Noblesville, and HSE back to back to back weeks in the playoffs they go 13-1 last year? Absolutely not and I don't think many would argue that either. But that's irrelevant. In the playoffs, all CP had to do was be better than Westfield on that night. And they were. And that's all that matters.
  14. Right. Hence why I have repeatedly called it an opinion.
  15. Obviously an opinion, but if Crown Point played a predominantly 6A Indy area schedule like the rest of the top teams in 6A, their record would reflect as such. And that record wouldn't justify a #2 ranking and all honesty likely wouldn't crack the top 2. But then again, there is absolutely zero way to quantify this hypothetical is simply why I said it is of "my belief".
  16. My belief that there are 6-8 6A teams in Central Indiana better than Crown Point, 3 or 4 of them who would all win going away.
  17. I personally wouldn't take a knee in a game unless unless it was literally to effectively end the game ie game ending first down with say 2:30 left and the opposing team has no timeouts. But if 3rd and 4th stringers are in there, they are playing football until the clock reads 0:00.
  18. LCC taking a knee in the middle of the second quarter would have been far more humiliating. Notice how you're the only one who remembers the time, date, and score? I will guarantee you the sun still came up the next day for those kids at Clinton Prairie.
  19. There's not many "people" who think this, there's really one person driving this narrative and that person is Muda. And what's worse is that he thinks this should happen anytime the deficit threshold crosses 35 points. I've seen plenty of games where the score is 35-0 at the end of the 1st quarter/early 2nd quarter. Imagine practicing all week (regardless of what side of the ball you're on) and having the other team literally not play football for the remaining 2+ quarters. I'd be far more embarrassed as a player, coach, fan of a losing if a team took a knee for 2+ quarters than losing in blowout fashion, even if we lost 100-0.
  20. Clock wouldn't stop on an incompletion (in the 2nd half) in a game where one team was up by 35+ points due to a mandated running clock. I don't have an issue with backups/JV running their offense in a blowout so long as they aren't intentional running up the score. You want to run a slant or a 5 yard out to get your backup QB some reps by all means do it, it's the other teams job to stop it. Now running a flea flicker or double reverse up 49 in the 4th quarter regardless of who you have in the game is a no-no, but again that's common sense and happens so infrequently that it doesn't warrant discussion on a thread like this.
  21. I'm not sure I'd go that far. Based on what exactly?
  22. Good point. I just know they aren't the second best team in 6A.
  23. Don't make him think too much. Muda's mental gymnastics hurt my brain from time to time.
  24. Sportsmanship lol. God forbid actual football is played....during a football game. I'd rather they just call the game at a 35 point deficit rather than watching a team take knees for two straight quarters and wasting everybody's time. Only if refunds are issued of course.
