  1. You must be new here? He's advocated for the last 15 years that teams take knees for 3 straight plays and punt for the remainder of the game once the 35 point threshold is crossed.
  2. They are definitely on the up and up and the best team in the northern portion of the state. They aren't the 2nd best team in 6A though, not even close.
  3. Tech has a home game this Friday so it's a moot point, but otherwise agree. Tech is a great venue.
  4. But has anyone confirmed that the ruling on the field was a "muff" due to the belief the ball hit the punt returner's leg/foot up the field around the 15 yard line rather than a misapplication of the the rule when Westfield touched the ball trying to prevent a touchback that ultimately hit a Center Grove player and subsequently ruled a fumble recovery at the goal line?
  5. Not sure collectively but do know they have an Illinois commit at DT who started last year and another returning starter at DE who lead the team in sacks last year. And obviously they have ND commit Mark Zackery in the secondary who is widely considered to be the best player in the state. But I also think it's fair to say they missed Nylan Brown out there a lot.
  6. Mixed bag after watching Ben Davis Friday night. Their offense didn't look that bad despite not scoring a single point. QB has a very good arm and for the most part played very well. A couple fluky turnovers and some costly penalties were some real drive killers. They ended up throwing a ton, likely out of necessity due to the score, but they never really attempted to establish a run game which I thought was odd given it was a close game through most the first half. But I was thoroughly unimpressed with their defense which I figured would have been their strong suit. They were bullied up front by a young (and hurt) Cathedral offensive line. And that's with Cathedral committing to the run all night due to an inexperienced QB who wasn't a threat to drive the ball down the field. All in all they will most likely be fine going forward.
  7. Reactions tell it all. 1. CG punt returner doesn’t flinch. Doesn’t even attempt to go back and retrieve the ball. If he thought for a second it touched him, his reaction would have been entirely different. 2. #27 for Westfield attempts to save the ball from going into the end zone rather than trying to recover a live ball. 3. There’s 6 Westfield players all pointing at #14 in red (who wasn’t the punt returner) indicating he was the person to touch the ball making the ball live.
  8. He is talking about the same play. He’s saying the official ruled the ball hit the CG punt returner on the initial bounce making it a live ball right there…which would also be incorrect as the ball didn’t come close to touching him. The reaction by both teams confirm this.
  9. The ball didn’t come close to hitting the punt returner’s foot/leg on the initial bounce although if I had blown a call that egregious with the hindsight of video replay that’s what I would have gone with while talking to a former colleague. Much easier to justify a judgement call than a complete misapplication of the rule (which is what I believe honestly happened). Either way, that should have been CG’s ball at the 1-2 yard line at the very worst case and still not so sure the punt didn’t break the plane of the end zone which would result in a touchback.
  10. You aren’t blind, you just aren’t biased towards officiating. It was a blown call that deserves to be called out. That ball hit at the 16 yard line and was rolling aggressively towards the end zone until it was thrown back by the Westfield gunner to prevent a touchback.
  11. Must be giving out too many scholarships 🙄
  12. I’m talking about the play in the Center Grove/Westfield game where the is video linked above.
  13. Huh? #27 in white very clearly touches the ball first.
  14. How did they get that wrong? That’s inexcusable.
  15. Neighborhood ordinance is the driving factor but parking would be an utter disaster.
  16. Not a winning combination against a team like Ben Davis. Here’s to keeping tonight competitive and hopefully (remaining) injury free, heard the latter is a big concern after camp.
  17. He's not alluding to the same type of points system you're thinking about.
  18. Because a lot more teams "fail" than succeed. How do you quantify failure with 6 classes? Every team who doesn't win a sectional moves down a class? How the hell does that work long term? #1 Ben Davis beats #2 Brownsburg opening round of sectionals Brownsburg moves down to 5A? Sounds ridiculous, I know.
  19. A school with 2500 kids doesn't belong in a tournament with a school with 400 kids. I'll leave it at that.
  20. I am vehemently against a system of promotion and relegation based on results at the high school level. It isn't feasible.
  21. I didn't say that. But using your "clearinghouse method" of counting enrollment, Tech would likely become a 3A or 4A school and Washington a 1A or 2A school. None of which matters because it doesn't magically make either a better football program. Tech would not win an Indy-area 3A or 4A sectional and same for Washington in 1A or 2A. See my post above
