Again, what is the relevance to the success factor here? Bumping the P/P's up a class via multiplier or success factor isn't going to magically make Tech or Washington become a better football programs. You literally don't know what you're talking about. I can't speak for the other P/P's but the only scholarship Cathedral offers is performance based on the placement test. Has nothing to do with athletics. https://www.gocathedral.com/admissions/tuition/meritscholarships And yes, Cathedral draws from who applies. You aren't getting in without applying, I'll assure you of that.

I think I pulled an old rule. 18-1 Minimum Course Enrollment and Grades for Participation To be eligible scholastically, students must have received passing grades and earned credit at the end of their last Grading Period in School in at least Seventy percent (70%) of the maximum number of full credit subjects that a student can take and must be currently Enrolled in at least Seventy percent (70%) of the maximum number of full credit subjects that a student can take. a. The preceding notwithstanding, a student must have been Enrolled in a minimum of Four (4) full credit courses during the last Grading Period, and must be Enrolled in a minimum of Four (4) full credit subjects (or the equivalent) during the current Grading Period, unless a Block Four schedule is used, and then the student’s Enrollment must be in a minimum of Three (3) full credit courses. b. If grades reported at an Eligibility Certification Date include both Grading Period grades and semester grades, then semester grades take precedence for eligibility purposes. c. A student may use up to Two (2) semesters of the state-required physical education course for eligibility purposes, with each semester’s course counting as One (1) full credit. d. Physical education credit earned by participation on an athletic team, may not count toward academic eligibility. e. Class periods must meet Indiana Department of Education standards. f. In the event a School establishes minimum academic requirements which are greater than the IHSAA academic requirements, the IHSAA will consider those higher academic requirements to constitute the IHSAA academic requirements at such School, and will require that a student at that School meet those greater academic requirements before that student is eligible scholastically under this rule.

Guessing most schools (and almost all publics) abide by the IHSAA clearinghouse pertaining to eligibility: Grades: (1) If you did not pass 6 subjects in your previous grading period, (2) if you are not currently passing 6 subjects – Study Hall Does NOT Count, (3) if you are not currently enrolled in at least 5 academic classes

Temp’s Preseason Top 50

Warren Central has the most on-paper talent in the state. Not sure what last year, especially early in the season, has to do with a preseason poll for the following year? -

The same reason why IU still lands top basketball recruits: it’s a known program. -

I made a comment in a different thread about open enrollment hurting some P/P schools and got mocked for it, but it certainly holds true. Pre open-enrollment, you played for your local public school OR you ponied up and played at a private school. There were some instances where families got good at manipulating a friend or families address, but for the most part, the IHSAA sniffed it out. Township and County schools have been taking full advantage of this. There's a reason why a kid can play 3 years at Westfield and end up at Warren Central. There's a reason why Lawrence Township kids flock across county lines to Mt Vernon. There's a reason why IPS athletes have been gutted by the some of the schools you've mentioned. -
Cathedral can compete in 6A, you won't get an argument from me there. But belonging in 6A permanently just so a few more public schools can win the 4A and 5A title? I have an issue with that, especially when the only requirement is beating two of North Central, Lawrence North, and Lawrence Central in back to back weeks. At the end of the day, Cathedral has 1000 students playing 2 classes up against schools 3-4x their enrollment. That has to count for something.
-
Not disagreeing with you, but how does putting Cathedral, Chatard, insert any P/P in their own tournament or adding a multiplier help a school like Tech or Washington? It doesn't. You know that and I know that. The success factor benefits a handful of programs a class a year. Teams who perennially go 0-9, 1-8 aren't just going to magically become good by eliminating the P/P's. And for the coach of a program like that to rail against the success factor or advocate for the P/P's to play in the own tournament reeks of whining.
-
Cathedral literally hasn't played in their technical enrollment classification since the inception of the success factor lol. They've spent half their time playing 2 classes up. And why do you always drum up this stupid hypothetical up about drawing from 2.5 million people? Cathedral draws from who applies. And with over a 90% acceptance rate, that number is closer to 500, not 2.5 million.

2024 6A Who can win it all?

Pike loses a lot of talent to Brebeuf and Cathedral in both football and basketball. Teague will at least keep some district kids home, he’ll probably even attract a few out of district kids given his AAU connections. Whether or not he can coach is one thing, but he’ll get the talent to win. He’s not taking this job to be a perennial loser. -

There’s 10-12 kids on a varsity basketball roster. With an enrollment that size, that’s irrelevant or so I’ve been told. But yes, you’re heading down the right path. Coaching/culture/administrative buy-in etc are vastly more important than simply shouting “enrollment”. I’m inclined to agree that SES demographics play a much larger role than simply enrollment, especially at the current 6A level. There’s too many mega-enrollment schools in the state now for it to be an advantage in the largest class. -

North Central was by far away the biggest high school in the state in the 70’s, 80’s and into the 90’s and still to this day a top 5 enrollment high school. Not sure those guys have ever won a regional. If enrollment is everything you say it is, they would have lucked into a modicum of success just once these last 50 years. No? -

Why has North Central been largely terrible throughout their existence despite having a mega-enrollment since the inception of class football? Haven’t sniffed a state title.
