2024 Turf and Beyond
Daniel_Bragg replied to btownqbcoach1's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Is this what your hatred is really about? Because you didn't get to play on it, you feel kids today shouldn't? I believe in wanting BETTER for kids today than what I had it. Turf solves a lot of problems for some schools. Take Sheridan. By adding turf, not only does our football program get a top-notch field to play on, but the soccer games can all be moved to the turf as well. For the past forever, they have been playing soccer on a very outdated soccer field that is off-campus, raising concerns for student and fan safety. The old soccer field will now be town property, where the plan is to build a new larger capacity salt barn, which obviously benefits the community. Also, the band will get to utilize the new turf. Moving their practices from the blacktop parking lot where they have been since before the 00s, to a safer (and cooler) turf field. Are some schools changing to turf just to spend extravagantly? Sure. However, to assume that EVERY school is doing that, is naive and ignorant. -

As a Sheridan person, I support these alignments. LOL -

First of all, you have no idea what wild and extravagant spending I champion. I'm a sitting Councilman, and absolutely understand how not to spend money. However, you didn't answer my question. Are you someone who just likes to make noise, or are you someone who actually wants to get involved and do your part for your school system? Being hard-nosed about saving the taxpayers money is commendable. However, if you are only looking at this issue, as you have kind of been signaling, from a "how much does installation cost" aspect, then you are not looking at the bigger picture that A LOT of these school boards are. Is there frivolous spending in every school district? Absolutely. But again, your vehement hatred for anything turf screams more "I own stock in sod", than a true worrisome taxpayer. -

Are you aware if they currently have a textbook shortage? With as concerned as you obviously are about taxpayer money, I certainly hope you have run for your local school board. We need bean-counters like you... -

Is there ANY possible way for this to get back on topic, rather than Muda preaching how he doesn't like things? That'd be swell. -

Sheridan's construction I don't believe begins until after track season, and their turf is slated to be installed by August 1. It's pretty crazy how quickly these things get done nowadays. -
State Champion vs Class Champions
Daniel_Bragg replied to slice60's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Is this really what some people in big schools worry about? Does it eat away at your person every time a 1A champion is crowned? I mean, find something worthwhile to worry about in life. Sheesh. Oh, and they already do this. Class 1A State Champion Class 2A State Champion, etc. -

2024 Turf and Beyond

I believe the approved bid was $1.2M. The important thing to know when discussing Sheridan is that this will also solve an issue that has been going on for at least the past 20+ years, the soccer field not being on campus. By adding turf, not only are drainage and upkeep issues that currently exist on the football field resolved, but now the soccer games will be played on campus, which is a win for security purposes. Also, now the band will be able to practice somewhere that isn't the asphalt parking lot. -

Let's hope not! Would be pretty cool to have Week 1 at home on new turf, with our newly finished fieldhouse and spirit store, new concession, etc. -

For my broadcasting sake, I pray neither. LOL! Endzones will look really nice though, I imagine. I haven't seen any drawings. Personally, I hope it's a big S at the 50, with one red endzone and one black endzone. -

Sheridan School Board accepted a bid to install turf at Sheridan High School. Field will be equipped with soccer lines as well. Per the AD, installation should be finished on August 1st. -
I think the Hoosier Heartland is one of the more competitive conferences this year. A LOT of fun games. It looks like Taylor and Clinton Prairie could be the leaders though. Either way, the majority of the conference looks to be separated by just a few points on any given Friday/Saturday.

Tonight, especially in the 2nd half, we saw a Sheridan team that was playing together and working as a team. When they do it, they are a thing of beauty. This team really should have a better record. They found a way to lose to Eastern last month, and honestly, the Frankfort game should have been much different as well.

Friday: Sheridan @ Tri-Central - I'm gonna go with Sheridan as well. Honestly, the two games against Eastern and Clinton Prairie could have gone very differently. Sheridan just needs to avoid the "Live by the 3" game that they fall into sometimes. Rossville @ Taylor - Taylor. Rossville has been stout in the past, but I think Taylor gets it this year. Delphi @ Carroll - Carroll going away Clinton Central @ Eastern - Eastern going away Saturday: Clinton Prairie @ Northwestern - I think it's close, but Northwestern pulls it out at home. Rossville @ Sheridan - Sheridan gets the W. Oak Hill @ Eastern - Oak Hill. They have been tested much more. Still want to see more out of Eastern. Tri-Central @ Wes-Del - Tri-Central gets the bounce-back win after losing on Friday. 😉 Caston @ Delphi - Caston gets the win. Delphi only beats teams with 2 or fewer losses this season.

I'm sorry, but having the sun be down at 4pm during the winter would just be stupid. -
Sorry. I'm 100% down to do a pick 'em every week.
