Statement from Sheridan Schools:

In a game I called this past Friday, there was a situation where we saw a player receive the ball as they were going to the ground, falling on his back. As soon as he made contact with the ground, the defender also fell on top of the receiver and appeared to punch the ball out. It was called incomplete. I know that to the letter of the NFL, you must survive the ground for the catch to be called complete. Does that rule also apply to high schools? I believe that this was the correct call by the crew, but wanted to make sure I fully understood the catch rule.

Well, you seem to be concerned about attendance(money) to these games, so I naturally assumed that you would also follow that chain of thought and apply it to something else that "drives down attendance".

I'd actually find that an interesting read. Do you have an article or something? If these schools are so desperate, I find it interesting that they allow online video streaming. Especially since I've been assured by my AD that I am absolutely NOT hurting them by streaming the games.

While I appreciate your condescending response, my point was that with technology now, you can watch everything. Go to the high school games, and we all walk around with TVs in our pockets.

I'll be broadcasting the Sheridan game tonight, and the Packers game will be on a monitor in the booth. Why not just embrace that ALL football is back?

Looking at our GD Poll, looks like we agree with the Top 5. Bottom 5 are mostly the same teams, just not in the same order.

You're absolutely right. Just found this exact poll on the AP website, dated Oct. 17, 2023. Not a great look at all for WTHR, which posted it as a new poll on Wednesday. "The Associated Press released their preseason Indiana high school football poll on Monday, Aug. 19."

Well, boys volleyball is still considered an "emerging sport", so I don't know that it is a fully recognized sport yet. I know they officially recognized girls wrestling, as of this year I believe. I actually spoke to the Sheridan HS AD about boys volleyball and she indicated that it is something that they are interested in, and she mentioned girls flag football as well. I believe she said that Carmel was getting ready to, or has already, been very active in trying to get girls flag football going.

Nope. It's the poll that was posted by WTHR, and is currently up on their website. Just goes to show that who cares what the AP says? They don't even pay enough attention to know who is in what class.

With respect to Prairie, they haven't made it necessarily easy on the Hawks in recent years, but their downfall has been not being able to stop the Sheridan offense. A subpar Sheridan offense against a capable Prairie defense, and I know that they(Prairie) could pull it off.

I'm honestly shocked at how the IndyStar, Coaches, and Media polls all have Sheridan as a big force in 1A. However, the Sectional realignment made it VERY favorable for Sheridan to win it. Clinton Central, Clinton Prairie, Cloverdale, Tindley, Irvington Prep, Sheridan, Tri-Central Sheridan should win that Sectional, even in down years.

Oh God. Not a points system again.... As a youth growing up in Sheridan, all I ever heard from my father was about the 1970-something class that went undefeated, but due to points didn't get to play in the postseason.
