  1. I believe the approved bid was $1.2M. The important thing to know when discussing Sheridan is that this will also solve an issue that has been going on for at least the past 20+ years, the soccer field not being on campus. By adding turf, not only are drainage and upkeep issues that currently exist on the football field resolved, but now the soccer games will be played on campus, which is a win for security purposes. Also, now the band will be able to practice somewhere that isn't the asphalt parking lot.
  2. My better idea is not doing this ridiculous idea of 32 teams in all classes. I'd be more in favor of not all teams qualifying for the tournament, which I'm not advocating for either.
  3. No. Absolutely not. You solution to this is forget the small schools, or send a 6A Final to somewhere other than Lucas Oil? Come on. Let's be serious.
  4. Let's hope not! Would be pretty cool to have Week 1 at home on new turf, with our newly finished fieldhouse and spirit store, new concession, etc.
  5. For my broadcasting sake, I pray neither. LOL! Endzones will look really nice though, I imagine. I haven't seen any drawings. Personally, I hope it's a big S at the 50, with one red endzone and one black endzone.
  6. Sheridan School Board accepted a bid to install turf at Sheridan High School. Field will be equipped with soccer lines as well. Per the AD, installation should be finished on August 1st.
  7. Not this conversation again......... Publics and privates will never agree on this issue. Leave it alone. In the 4-class sports, they moved to a 20/25/25/30 split.
  8. Yes. Football remains same. Sorry. I've got basketball on the brain right now.
  9. I like the new cutoff, but it does hurt those that are barely missing moving down in class. Now, they are an even smaller school in the class.
  10. I think the Hoosier Heartland is one of the more competitive conferences this year. A LOT of fun games. It looks like Taylor and Clinton Prairie could be the leaders though. Either way, the majority of the conference looks to be separated by just a few points on any given Friday/Saturday.
  11. Tonight, especially in the 2nd half, we saw a Sheridan team that was playing together and working as a team. When they do it, they are a thing of beauty. This team really should have a better record. They found a way to lose to Eastern last month, and honestly, the Frankfort game should have been much different as well.
  12. Friday: Sheridan @ Tri-Central - I'm gonna go with Sheridan as well. Honestly, the two games against Eastern and Clinton Prairie could have gone very differently. Sheridan just needs to avoid the "Live by the 3" game that they fall into sometimes. Rossville @ Taylor - Taylor. Rossville has been stout in the past, but I think Taylor gets it this year. Delphi @ Carroll - Carroll going away Clinton Central @ Eastern - Eastern going away Saturday: Clinton Prairie @ Northwestern - I think it's close, but Northwestern pulls it out at home. Rossville @ Sheridan - Sheridan gets the W. Oak Hill @ Eastern - Oak Hill. They have been tested much more. Still want to see more out of Eastern. Tri-Central @ Wes-Del - Tri-Central gets the bounce-back win after losing on Friday. 😉 Caston @ Delphi - Caston gets the win. Delphi only beats teams with 2 or fewer losses this season.
  13. I'm sorry, but having the sun be down at 4pm during the winter would just be stupid.
  14. Sorry. I'm 100% down to do a pick 'em every week.
  15. I'm not sure most taxpayers wouldn't be happy with consolidation. This is why it continues to be a wonder why the Chamber of Commerce keeps trying to force this.
  16. I think we still have to wait a few more games before I can tell you how good Sheridan is. CP operated as a team from the jump, whereas Sheridan was very shaky, and seemed to have jitters. They obviously figured it out later on. Just unfortunate that their first game was a conference matchup. I think CP can win the conference. It should be an exciting season for sure. I'm looking forward to Friday, and seeing how Sheridan plays against Clinton Central.
  17. I think if they consolidated the schools, both could see a benefit. Although, then you have the question of where to put the new building that would likely follow the decision.
  18. I've said for awhile now that Clinton Central and Prairie should consolidate. While I'm not in favor of the government forcing this, I think it would make sense for both schools.
  19. That makes sense. Sorry about that. I let my emotions get the best of me on what I knew was going to be a stressful evening.
  20. I know schools like Sheridan have absolutely no interest in this terrible idea. We have ZERO desire to consolidate with Hamilton Heights, and even less desire to be absorbed into Westfield. Indiana Chamber of Commerce needs to find something else to talk about.
  21. I'll happily take part in discussions throughout the season. I honestly forgot that there was a basketball side to the GID.
  22. Tell me you've never been to Carmel High School without saying it...
  23. My Hypothetical List(just for comparison): 1. Ben Davis 2. Brownsburg 3. Center Grove 4. East Central 5. Westfield 6. Cathedral 7. Hamilton Southeastern 8. Crown Point Using my list, this whole thing would kind of be moot. All but one are in 6A. I think in the vast majority of seasons, this Open Tournament would end up being almost completely 6A teams. To me, it defeats the purpose.
  24. Personally, growing up in Sheridan, I can't tell you a single basketball game I attended until I was in high school in 2004. No one cares about basketball, when your football program is what drives the school system. Looking back now, I do kind of wish that I had at least seen a little bit of single-class basketball, but class system has never bothered me.
