I will forever agree with this. As long as the tournament remains "random draw", efforts should be made to neutralize any homefield advantage.

He'd likely be ranked higher, but you also have to wonder if he'd have the success that he has had. Not very many teams in 5A and 6A would likely do very well running a direct snap offense. I'm not taking anything away from Myles, but his career would likely look different if at a bigger program. This is why it's so hard to compare athletes across different classes.

I just went back and watched it. #10 flicks it to his teammate and it is definitely caught a yard or two forward. Feel awful for Alexandria for that to be missed. That's football though. Officials miss calls sometimes..

Seeding the Sectionals just makes sense.

Sheridan has the years of every football state title painted on a water tower. Forever is the answer to this question.

Was the running clock to cut down on scoring spread, or just to let people go home earlier? Generally, once teams get the running clock, they sub out their starters anyway.

Channel 4 in some areas is also Channel 29 in others around the state. For instance, Sheridan doesn't have Channel 4, but it actually is. Channel 4 is just found on Channel 29 when using an antenna.

No one knows what to expect out of Sheridan. When your program has been led by the same mind for almost 60 years, everyone is naturally skeptical. Ironically, the team that same coach is now an assistant at, is ranked 10th.

Does anyone on here have a clue where Greenwood Christian Academy will be playing their home football games this year? Trying to plan out the season for Sheridan football broadcasts, and not even the AD was sure when I asked her a few weeks ago.

They'd do it if they wanted a really big win margin.

I'll say one thing for turf: without it, the Hurricane Game in Sheridan wouldn't have happened last year. LOL

I know Sheridan has A LOT of students out of the school on a daily basis for internships. They are proud of that fact. From what I have seen/heard though, most are in internships for college credit. I wholeheartedly agree about the pendulum swinging. In almost every scenario, when the government tries to fix one thing now, they cause more problems later. I think there can be a middle to all of this. In career fields that are vital and currently experiencing shortages, I.e. teaching, nursing, etc...the government should create incentives for students to choose those career paths. I'm not going to go into proposals for those incentives, but I imagine you can come up with a few yourself. Now, back to "will vouchers affect the football landscape", I honestly don't think so. Top performing public school kids aren't going to switch to voucher schools, just because they can. If I had to venture a guess, the more likely to make these moves are guys who don't get a lot of playing time, and just want to win a ring with minimal effort, riding on someone else's coattails. If a kid is starting at a team that is competitive, I don't think he'll move to a school just because of vouchers.

I'd really love to find out what he was spending money on, that would require him to cease operations unless someone helps "funding continued operations." A Facebook page costs exactly ZERO dollars to operate.

To the end of more internship hours, it is natural for the state to want to generate their own workforce. The reality is that Indiana needs blue collar workers. So, the DOE and political leaders are changing the curriculum to match the workforce needs. I usually don't get involved in political discussions on forums, as being a local elected official brings its own volume of discussion, but I did want to engage with that point. I'm not saying I agree with the plan. I prefer that we prepare our children for a life that leads to being the most educated that they can be. However, when college has been proven over the past several decades to be more of a "piece of paper" than an achievement that prepares you for the real world, it is only natural that state governments would start getting pressured to deviate from that model.

See Sparty, in your example, you are correct. I would never say "They WAS very good", since "they" is a plural pronoun. However, in the way that I stated the team, as a singular noun, "was" is correct. Now that we have had our daily grammar lesson, can we move on?

You must have missed where a punt in the first half went backwards. Most of the games in Central Indiana were postponed that evening for good reason. The Sheridan/Taylor game went on as scheduled, as I've heard, because they didn't want it to be the only Hoosier Heartland Conference game that didn't happen that night. I also know that the camera did an INCREDIBLE job of not allowing the rain to really block any view. As the owner of said camera, I was impressed. However, banners were torn off the stadium, trees were down throughout the community, and power was out in more than a few spots. Simply put, especially the 2nd half of that game, was unsafe. I say that, as someone who was protected(mostly) from the winds and rain. If we want to live in a fantasy world where the weather wasn't a factor in that game, we can just assume that Sheridan decided to not play football even half speed, considering Taylor lost to Clinton Central, Clinton Prairie, and Delphi; teams that Sheridan defeated all by double digits.

Being a broadcaster from Sheridan, I see them every year, in multiple sports. Taylor was a "better than they usually are" team. In the regular season, they started 2-0 by beating North White and FW Blackhawk, then lost to Carroll, Eastern, and Clinton Central in a blowout. It took a hurricane for them to beat Sheridan, then they got blown out again against Clinton Prairie. They beat Tri-Central, a team that hasn't had a winning season since 2020, by 1....then lost their final regular season game against Delphi. They DID surprise everyone in Sectional, but with the redraw, it appears that they benefited greatly. I'm not saying they are a "do nothing" team, but they certainly shouldn't be considered the 11th best team in 1A.

Just based on the 1A poll, I'm assuming whoever voted went HEAVILY off how last year's teams finished their seasons. Having Taylor ranked is a bit wild to me.

You're probably not wrong. I just personally would love to see the NHL give Indianapolis a chance. Our minor league teams have had good followings over the course of my lifetime, and I just feel like an NHL team would be so awesome for the city. While you are correct that two teams cover the Indianapolis area, there really isn't any existing fandom in the city and surrounding area for them. Compare that to the loyal followings of Cubs, White Sox, Reds, and Cardinals fans, that's why I don't think the MLB will ever give Indy a chance.

This shouldn't surprise anyone. With the talk in recent years of getting an MLS team, this was always going to be a discussion. Indianapolis leadership wants to go over the "hump" of cities, by having professional teams in every sport. Only league that I don't think will ever come to Indy is the MLB.

I think the biggest aspect of all of this, that is often forgotten is open enrollment. Just because these new transfer rules are in place, doesn't mean that these kids can literally go wherever they want. A lot of kids won't be able to go to the bigger schools, simply because mom and dad won't move. I don't think you'll see a whole bunch of kids relocating just to play sports. At least no more than already did before this rule.

Sheridan has seen a little of this in recent years, due to open enrollment. However, there is a concern for them as well. One student, in particular, who is in middle school, plays girls basketball. She is being courted by HSE right now. REALLY hope she stays at Sheridan.

Sheridan is just sitting here waiting for Westfield, Carmel, HSE, Zionsville, etc. kids to call us home.
