Thank you for that clarification. -
Transfers Happening?

Undue influence doesn't mean that the athlete was encouraged or incentivized to move. It means that they are making the choice outside of their own free will or without adequate attention to the consequences. I don't think parents or coaches are going to start dragging players to their program, without the consent of the kids. -

I absolutely believe that the intent and wording is meant as "you're in our school and you have a pulse" Not making Varsity doesn't mean you didn't have the opportunity to do so. The opportunity was there, but the ability wasn't. -

This is pulled directly from the Board of Directors minutes, regarding the rule. 19-3.2 First Time Transfer Between Member Schools a. Students who transfer between Member Schools for the first time during the first six (6) semesters after their initial high school enrollment will have full eligibility, provided: (1.)The transfer occurs on or before the Start of Practice Date of the sports season in which the transfer occurs; and (2.)The transfer is not the result of undue influence (rules 20-1 and 20-2, past link). b. Students who transfer during the first six (6) semesters, having had the opportunity to participate in three (3) seasons of eligibility of a sport, will be subject to a Thirty (30) day non-competition period or half (1/2) the Maximum Number of Contests, whichever is less, in each sport in which they participated during or after their third year of eligibility, during the Three-hundred Sixty-five (365) days preceding the transfer. -

After looking at the Predictor Tool, I think the "normalized" result is what is causing some disparage. There is some sort of clear recency bias in the numbers. And yes, when using Sagarin, these numbers will always be skewed to benefit the larger schools. -

I believe I read somewhere that Juniors are allowed to transfer up until the first day of 1st Practice. I could be wrong though. -
2025 Fall Sectional Assignments Released
Daniel_Bragg replied to oldtimeqb's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Because AC moved up due to enrollment, not Success Factor. The confusion was caused by them technically earning a Success Factor bump at the same time that their enrollment moved them up. -

Enrollment classifications are done every two years. Success Factor is a rolling two-year cycle. I'm not sure that can be made any more clear. -

None of the Sheridan teams from 2005-2007 on the list is wild. It is what it is I guess. -

While Adams Central did get the points to SF up, their enrollment also moved them up. Just in case you weren't aware. -
Girls Flag Football Growing In The State
Daniel_Bragg replied to Muda69's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I love it! I'll always advocate for MORE football. I don't have any clue on the logistical headaches that ADs will have with this, but I'd love to see Sheridan do this. -
Girls Flag Football Growing In The State
Daniel_Bragg replied to Muda69's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Girls Flag Football added as Emerging Sport, joins Girls Lacrosse Girls Flag Football was approved by the group by a 17-1 vote to join the IHSAA’s Emerging Sports Process. The sport joins Girls Lacrosse, approved last August, and both will begin the process with the 2025-26 school year. Girls Flag Football, a fall sport, has strong support and financial backing of the Indianapolis Colts. The Emerging Sport Process, known as Rule 1-4, helps pave a way for those sports and participation to continue to grow with an eye toward eventually becoming a recognized sport and sponsorship of an official state tournament. Girls Wrestling and Boys Volleyball went through the same process and became fully recognized and state tournaments sponsored this school year. By earning the designation as an emerging sport, the IHSAA will now provide rule books, conduct coaches rules meetings, and provide coverage in the IHSAA’s Catastrophic Medical program. Both sports will now be subject to all IHSAA rules and policies, including the General Eligibility Rules. For a sport to become officially recognized and an IHSAA state tournament be sponsored, 50 percent of the membership must be participating in the sport. The IHSAA currently has 409 member schools around the state. -
I think there is likely some rare cases, as you said, but I'd also wager that the winning team pulled their foot off the gas. In my experience, as soon as a running clock is achieved, the starting offense is taken off the field. Playcalling changes for the winning team as well, on both sides of the ball. I think if we were to make this change, then the winning team would actually be more incentivized to keep piling on.

I've been perfectly pleased with the rule. As a broadcaster, it's a nice quick way for the game to end. Generally, by the time the running clock starts, everyone wants to go home, even the players.

What's a homefield advantage worth?
Daniel_Bragg replied to hhpatriot04's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Sheridan was built mostly for speedy outside runs, with some passing mixed in. Taylor was an incredibly basic, run up the gut offense. Also, the wind was so strong that the ultimate winner was whoever had the ball going toward the south endzone. I don't understand why you are pushing back on this so much. It's been a widely accepted fact that weather is a great equalizer in sports. -

Another example of bad weather bringing teams closer together was the NIGHTMARISH hurricane game last year in Sheridan. No disrespect to Taylor, but those two teams weren't close until a hurricane rolled through town. -

I know, right?! Who wants an even playing field, where the better team on that day wins? Sheesh. Give me random and the ability for host schools to manipulate the game. THAT'S WHAT SPORTS ARE ALL ABOUT!!! Wait.... -
Who is on the Tournament Success Factor bubble?
Daniel_Bragg replied to rob's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Enrollment won't change this year, so Providence won't move. New sectionals for schools moving on Success Factor, I would think, will be out soon. -
They like having the little "tournament" before the championship. If I could make changes, I would create a Sweet 16/Elite 8 Regional and a Semi-State/State weekend. Imagine a two-game Regional, then the weekend of the Championship, Final Four games being played at Hinkle, Mackey, Assembly Hall, and Joyce Center at Notre Dame, and then the Championship at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Final Four games could be played on Thursday or Friday night, then title games on Saturday or Sunday.

Transfers Happening?
Daniel_Bragg replied to Football Guru 25's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
We've seen it firsthand at Sheridan the past few years. Guys that weren't going to get playing time at Westfield or Carmel come in and immediately contribute in a big way at Sheridan. The talent pool is bigger at Large schools, so like someone else noted, so it is far more likely that a kid from a large school has a very real chance of playing at a small school. -
Transfers Happening?
Daniel_Bragg replied to Football Guru 25's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Some schools that have had open enrollment have already seen this start to happen. Now with the new rule, I'd expect to see a lot of potential moving about when large schools are near smaller ones.
