  1. The COLDEST I have ever been in my life was not in a deer stand or duck blind. It was sitting in the bleachers at a Regional game MD @ Webo back in 1997 or 98. Game time temp was low 20's with what felt like gale force winds coming string into our faces on Visitor side. It still gives me chills to think about it.
  2. It might be good to keep in mind that these rough, tough, & manly college & pro teams playing in below freezing temps have all sorts of hi-tech, cold weather gear like ponchos, thermal gloves, heated bleachers, etc. at their disposal. Talk about "soft"! Few if any high school programs have the proper sideline equipment to cope with these kinds of temps. I t would also be good to keep in mind these are high school kids, not professional athletes who are being well compensated for their efforts.
  3. I tried to start a thread but much the same as last year, there are few TC fans active on the GID. There are a few comments but mostly from MD fans and supporters. Here is the link: It has pretty much devolved into an airing of past grievances over who refused to play where, when🤯
  4. From a semantical perspective, you are correct. I should have chosen my words more carefully. Mea culpa. However, the larger point I was trying to make is still relevant. In my opinion, it is a poor argument to cite that “other states have done it” as your main justification for an action. States are different, school systems are different, governing bodies - ie IHSAA, are different. If someone wants to implement some sort of a multiplier, do some research, show your work and back up your suggestion with data that is relevant to our state. Don't start with a flawed theory supported only by your own opinions...mi dos centavos.
  5. Oregonians made their state the first in the United States to decriminalize the personal possession of illegal drugs, including cocaine, heroin, oxycodone and methamphetamine. Measure 110 was passing by a wide margin in unofficial returns updated Wednesday morning. The ballot measure reclassifies possession of small amounts of drugs as a civil violation, similar to a traffic offense. The penalty becomes a $100 fine, which a person can avoid by agreeing to participate in a health assessment. Selling and manufacturing drugs will remain illegal. https://www.opb.org/article/2020/11/04/oregon-measure-110-decriminalize-drugs/
  6. Anyone heard of a Live Stream of this game anywhere? WREF will carry game locally on radio but nothing about video anywhere that I can find. DARN COVID😷
  7. Anyone have any info on possible Live Stream of this game? I know WREF will cover on radio but no word from anyone on livestream video option.
  8. Some states just legalized cocaine. Does that mean all states should follow suit. Poor argument The only adjustment I would propose to current system is a rolling 3-4 yr average which, I recognize, would be REALLY difficult for scheduling purposes but not impossible, since all schools would be subject to same system. Current system often punishes kids that happen to have bad luck of coming directly on the heals of a really strong class or two of athletes. Nearly every school has seen these 2-3 cycles but with the 2 year re-set, the kids who actually have to live with the step up are often not the same kids who had the success. . Yes they did say "option" but is it really an "option" to many programs? Move up or shut down if you don't like our rules?
  9. We are seeing a new period of emerging PP dominance, (based on what info & data exactly?) due primarily to the PPs ability to better manage and manuever their way thru the COVID Pandemic (how did you come to this conclusion? What evidence, other than your opinion, do you have that this is factually correct?). Most observers will agree (Assumes facts not in evidence, to say the least) that common sense (so called “common sense” is neither common nor often based on said “sense”) would dictate that PP football programs generally play "up" during the regular season and "down" during the post season. This reality defies all good logic and common sense, and clearly has a negative overall impact on competitive balance within the classes. (The reason for this is entirely geographical. Most of these programs are from smaller schools located in cities with larger public schools. For convenience, cost of travel, safety of the students, etc. these schools choose play teams that are nearby. Nothing sinister going on.) Under this new proposal, PPs will accept their new 2.0 Multiplied Classification, or have the option to contract their football program. (Power has gone to someone’s head, me thinks!?) There are several throughout the state that might seriously consider contraction.
  10. This is why I support the idea of hosting Regionals & Semi-State games at a neutral fields. Ideally, neutral fields that are similar distances from schools involved but I understand that could be problematic. Those who chime in with “but we earned the right to host a Home game” are delusional IMO. BOTH teams made it to the game by winning their Sectional, Regional, etc. so both have equally earned the right to host. The only reason one team is made the Home/Host team are the IHSAA rules that alternate every Host teams btwn the higher/lower sectionals/Regional every other year. How is that “earning” the right to host? Below are this year's rules for "Determining Home Team" for Regionals straight from IHSAA site. Next year, they will be simply reversed with Host team for even # divisions (2A, 4A & 6A) being the "lower" sectional instead of "higher". Not exactly "earning" it for any of the teams involved IMHO. Determining Home Team Classes 2A, 4A, 6A Sectional final game non-host, if applicable, or higher sectional # (i.e., Sect. 2 is higher than Sect. 1). Classes A, 3A & 5A Sectional final game non-host, if applicable, or lower sectional # (i.e., Sect. 1 is lower than Sect. 2).
  11. Agree. Per their stats, they are a good but not great running team with around 180 yds per game. Total offense is only around 230 yds per game...kind of makes you wonder how they scored so many pts...must have a really good D. S Still, I am going to give the rematch to the Wildcats 31 - 14. No real reason other than I am an admitted & unapologetic "homer" & a die-hard Wildcat fan!
  12. That was one option. Are you offering to write the check for hotel & meal expenses?
  13. Rematch from 2019 where TC Defense made life difficult for MD Offense and TC took home the Regional title 13 - 7. As I recall, there was very little conversation btwn fans leading up to that game so not certain we can expect a whole lot more this time around. Would enjoy hearing from TC opponents on the GID about what makes TC go this year: defense, offense, blend of both? Who ya got and why...
  14. Sectionals are completely up to the luck of the draw as to where you are placed in the bracket. There has been much discussion of seeding the sectionals but the IHSAA has shown little interest in this.
  15. Be "Humble in victory, gracious in defeat"...very nice statement in support of your team, Miner Pride. Classy guy, classy fans, classy program - wishing you all the best next season - at least until we meet again if the stars so align.
  16. I probably should have made it more clear that this was the first time this year I have actually listened to a game on the radio that had a running clock. I must confess I tuned out of several MD games after halftime when the score was lopsided... Last night, you could not see the clock on the livestream and the announcers did not seem to be aware of the running clock until part way through the 4th qtr so it was all a bit confusing as a listener. Mea culpa.
  17. Madison rams his way into end zone for Bears. Bears go 94 yds in 4 mins for victory over Tigers. Great game by all accounts. Dan Egierski on radio is almost as good as being there...almost.
  18. Bears' FB Madison drags defenders from 14 to 2 on BIG play for Bears. 9 secs left and last time out for Bears...last play?
  19. Bears get a first down on short pass to Evans...O line lines up offside, 1st down & 15 1;30 to go
  20. 4th & 3 for Bears on Tiger 43...2 mins left in somebody's season. Time out.
  21. Central FB Javonte Madison just carried most of the Tiger's defense for about 25 yds. 1st down Bears at midfield with about 3 mins to go. Madison is down after the play, however.
