  1. I watched both games from last night and based on film, I will go with the Tigers. I could easily be wrong but that is my gut based on what I saw on tape. HH line is big and physical and Memorial is a little weak against the run. However VL's line was smaller and quicker, which gave HH line trouble for first half. Tiger lineman are not as big but seem quicker and more athletic - similar to VL but much more talented. Plus Memorial tackles far better than VL. For Tigers to win however, Fisher cannot have the same game he had last night. Certainly SR D played a role but many of Fisher's passes were well off the mark, something he rarely seems to do. I think the Tiger passing game and its ability to score quickly from any point on the field is the difference as HH will run, run, run, run, run and then run again, burning up the clock and keeping ball away from the Tigers. In the end, the Tigers find a way to eeck out a 24 - 21 win. mi dos centavos. As always, best of luck to both teams for a well-played and injury free game. Travel safely!
  2. "B" Parking was likely full by yesterday afternoon with tailgate preparations. SR folks should stop by. If the Tiger faithful will welcome a "heretic fan" from their West Side rival, they will truly accept anyone at their gatherings!
  3. I may well need to make the trip to the Jungle should the MHS vs HH matchup materialize as expected but I will gladly take the night off this week and watch both games online. Good luck to all local teams this week.
  4. So, I am putting my prediction for the MD vs Memorial tilt out there a little early. I am picking Wildats in a huge (YUUU-GE!) upset 17 - 14. No, I am not bettting the farm on this outcome but for MD to pull off the upset, some things need to fall into place IMHO. First, Memorial has a definite advantage if the game becomes higher scoring affiar so Wildcat D needs to step - BIG TIME and keep score low. The lower, the better! Cam Marx wins the game with a 49 yd FG as time expires, similar to the win over the undefeated and heavily favored North Posey team many years ago. Ironically, that game was played at Central Stadium which cannot be just a coincidence! Secondly, the girlfriend of the Tiger QB must break up with him just before the game. I understand this is the ultimate devastation these days so this should improve the Wildcats' chances immensely (JK - for entertainment purposes only!) Lastly, Tiger bus breaks down and team has to walk the last 5 miles to the stadium. A late fall heat wave, very specifically located along, and only along, their route, pushes temps well into the 100+ range. Tigers arrive late to the stadium with all starters suffering from acute dehydration and slight delirium. (Again, just kidding...no animals - or players - were injured while concocting this story!) In all seriousness, the Wildcats have a big challenge ahead of them but stranger things have happened. Fingers crossed for the Cats to pull off what would arguably be the upset of the tournament. But, as the great Tug McGraw once said: "Ya gotta believe!" Best of luck to both teams on a well-played and injury free game!
  5. Back in the day...our parents & west siders, in general, were allegedly fans of viewing the moonlight and the submarine races from atop Reitz Hill but that is probably a topic for a different forum and audience. Notice, I said "allegedly"... not pointing fingers here! 😳
  6. I like the line posted by TigerFan that has the Tigers favored by 7 more than your heavily lopsided prediction cousin, but I can't disagree with it. 8 - ) MD underperforms on pass defense and that is where the Tigers excel. But hey, crazier things have happened. I witnessed the upset by the Tigers vs Reitz game last year at Enlow. It will take a special effort by the Wildcats, likely combined with an off night from Memorial but, as Tug McGraw once said: "Ya gotta believe!" Good luck to both teams for a well-played and injury free game, and may all fans make it home safely from the game - & the tailgating !
  7. Are they really running the field from Centerfield to Home plate? In the old days - I am old enough to remember my brother's football games at Bosse Field - I believe they ran the field from LF to RF and the bleachers were set up on top of the infield area. However, that may have been before they added the second wall, well inside the brick outer wall.
  8. I haven't seen this posted anywhere yet so here it is for those interested: https://www.ihsaa.org/sports/boys/football/2024-25-tournament?round=pairings-show
  9. A bit of a lucky guess but the Panthers seem to be a bit down right now. Injuries and emotions are a bit out of control. Watched the reply of last night's game and it was close until just before half when Tigers went on a 3 TD blitz. The Catch (or not) - really set off the Panther sidelines and fans and that was pretty much the end of the game. Panther could not regroup and Tigers kept their foot on the gas until the running clock. As has become routine under Hurley, the Tigers seem to be playing their best right as the playoffs approach.
  10. Tigers put a running clock on Panthers. Ouch! I thought MHS would win by a couple of TDs but not 40 pts. Has that EVER happened to RHS Boys before?
  11. After last week's performances, I am inclined to believe Jasper hangs closer with Castle than Reitz does Memorial.
  12. I have not seen HH play this year but based on the tread marks from the Tiger Bus as it rolled over us in the Bowl... I would have to put TIgers at the top, at least to this pt in the season.
  13. It's always fun to run these predictions but fwiw, Massey originally picked both North and Jasper to beat MD so not the strongest track record on strength of prediction, esp recently.
  14. I see...MD is getting the Rodney Dangerfield/ Florida State treatment, eh? Not to worry. MD was perhaps fortunate to beat the Knights but I still think head to head matters. Always a good debate... Could be that Castle walking over the RHS Boys may say more about the Panthers than the Knights but that remains to be seen. The Tigers vs Panthers will one to watch.
  15. EVANSVILLE, Ind. - All EVSC after school events, including football games have been canceled. School officials sent a notice to parents. It shows the cancelations are due to the wind and rain. They’ve been rescheduled for Saturday. “Due to the forecasted high winds & heavy rain from the remnants of Hurricane Helene, all EVSC after-school and evening activities are cancelled today, Sept. 27. This cancellation includes tonight’s football games. Games will be rescheduled for tomorrow. Start times will be announced as soon as details are finalized.”
  16. Jasper Fans - does Jasper still tape their games and show them on Saturday mornings or do they livestream them now? Appreciate someone posting the link as several out of town family members would enjoy watching the game. Thanks!
  17. Hurely & his staff obviously saw something on film that indicated MD was soft/vulnerable on punt coverage. The first time was a surprise but the second time was pure athleticism on the part of Fisher. There were 4-5 defenders with a chance to bring him down short of the line to gain but he was able to elude them. IMO, those 2 plays were HUGE turning pts in the game. If MD gets off the field, esp with the first one, Tigers lose the momentum and perhaps the game goes a little differenty. Then again, maybe it just ends up being a bit closer score. Lots to work on for MD this week.
  18. Congrats to the Tigers who indeed "took the Cats to the woodshed", esp with their passing game. QB (Fisher?) reminds me of former Tiger QB Lindauer with his arm & accuracy. MD simply had no answer for the Tigers' passing game last night. Time to turn the page and keep working to get better.
  19. Can't really argue with the prediction but I am going with an admittedly "homer" call: MD 17 - 14 Good luck to both teams! No injuries.
  20. Much appreciated. THere was a time when our local newspaper or TV websites would have this info but that time seems to have passed,
  21. Any one have a list of tonight's games that will be live streamed or carried on radio? I haven't been able to find one. TIA.
  22. The author of this article mentioned Memorial's "Top 3 Games" as Jasper, Reitz & Castle. Jasper was mentioned because it is a "rivalry game". Hmm. My question to MHS fans - and please be honest with your answer - Is Mater Dei no longer one of your top 3 games? Has the "rivalry" with Jasper supplanted the cross-town tilt with the Wildcats?
  23. Absolutely! Heading to the Jungle tonight with a couple of buddies. Nothing like high school football and the weather is nearly perfect.
  24. Completely forgot to congratulate the Tigers on another strong campaign. I don't know how many of the Tiger faithful saw a Sectional Championship in their future when both Fisher & Rode went down mid-season. IMO, this was perhaps the best coaching job in recent years by Hurley & his staff, and that is saying alot.
  25. Impressive win by EC last night. You don't see many teams come into Enlow and do that to the Tigers' D. Good luck next week.
