On field rule changes you would like to see
cbc34 replied to Trojanmp52's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
No way PI should be a spot foul. It’s the second worst called penalty behind only illegal man downfield. Officials don’t know how to call it correctly and penalize the DB and never the WR. They bail out the WR way too often and you can’t make it even more punitive. These bad PI calls have changed games. -

This right here! -
I wouldn't dig the grave for Penn just yet. Maybe someone closer to that program can shed some light. The past couple of years have been bad but we aren't that far removed from them competing for state titles. They had a pretty good stretch from like 2013-2017. Beat Carmel a few times lost a close one to CG in a state finals game. But a couple of bad losses in the state title game probably skew people's memories. Out of all of the other options in the 6A North, they've at least proven they CAN play with those teams and they've proven they will schedule tough teams. Snider, Merrillville, Valpo and many tough out-of-state opponents. They scheduled Cathedral this year. They've scheduled Ben Davis in the past. Those were fun games. What's going on with Penn?

We now have proof that the response by most in leadership positions is to completely overreact. Kudos to the IHSAA for letting the kids play. Now let them have their winter sports. And let’s get these kids back into schools.

Not if we went neutral site semi state games as they should be

Cathedral vs. Whiteland - Regional Championship
cbc34 replied to Dave007's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Can you explain? Seems Whiteland had success running the ball against some good teams this year. What does Cathedral do differently? Or is it simply a “Jimmy’s and Joes” thing? -
Boy wonder? That's funny. Some people can actually think analytically and evaluate things on a merit base. But keep plugging for those same retread coaches. Glad the SF 49ers didn't take that approach in the early 2010s when they hired some college coach with no track record of coaching in the pros.

Brohm would be my first call if I ran the Bears. Dodds from the Colts would be my first call for the GM spot.

Suspended or cancelled season

Good luck with that. Millions of people will fight against that. Millions. You can't rush something into production and start injecting people with an unknown product when you don't incur any of the liability on if it works and what serious side effects it might cause. Plus we already know it won't "cure" anything. -
Why though? Parents aren’t comfortable sending their kids to school but they are for athletics? How does that make sense? Should extra curricular only be for students/schools with students in the building?

My Suggestion to IHSAA
cbc34 replied to Coach Nowlin's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I didn’t say isolate a group of people but I’m sure there are less restrictive things we can do to ensure their safety. We live in an amazing time. You don’t have to go into a grocery store. You can have it delivered. You can pull up and have them loaded. I don’t agree that things have changed forever. People have to be willing to accept some risk. Just like with most things in life. So which of these measures will stick around? I am genuinely curious. I have no interest in arguing. People obviously have differing views points on this. Most people entrenched. Arguing only digs people further into their viewpoints. On both ends of the spectrum. But I would guess most people would fall somewhere in the middle. They would be willing to accept a few minor changes for the greater good. But not trading freedom for security. I am rooting for children in schools this fall and players on the fields/courts. Not for my own selfishness but those I’ve talked with are struggling right now. They need this for their own development. -
My Suggestion to IHSAA

You are assuming a vaccine ever comes and also assuming it is effective. Sorry I refuse to put all of my faith and hope in big pharma and the politicians whose pockets are being lined by them. These measures were extreme at the beginning but now that we know what we are up against, it’s time to open back up fully, without restrictions. We can protect take measures to protect the elderly. Everyone else is at such small risk including high schools student athletes who have basically at no risk of fatality, that these restrictions are extreme and overreaching.
