Week 11 Predictions Columbus East (4-5) at Whiteland (5-3): The Olympians will try to avoid ending their season where it began. The Warriors have been a little up and down this year (with a win against Mooresville and a loss against Franklin) which leaves the door open for an improving East team to get the upset. However, I don’t think East has improved enough to keep that Whiteland offense in check. Whiteland wins. New Albany (6-3) at Floyd Central (4-6): This will be the fifth time that the Bulldogs and Highlanders play twice in a season. The teams split wins in 2000 and 2009 but Floyd Central got the sweep in 2010 and 2017. New Albany will attempt to get their first season sweep tonight but I don’t think it’ll be easy. Something tells me they are ripe for a big letdown tonight. Nevertheless, it’s hard for me to pick against their talent and experience. They’re conference champs for a reason and I’ll ride with them again against their rival. New Albany wins a tight one. Seymour (3-5) at BNL (4-5): Yet another match-up that I feel could go either way as the initial meeting was only a six-point win for the Stars. Even with a first-year coach, I feel safer picking BNL. The Owls have made improvements this year but I need to see more from them before feeling confident enough to pick them. BNL is my pick. -

We didn’t even have to have seen the Jennings County at Martinsville games to know how last night’s game was going to go. Trust us. Lol -

Week 10 Predictions Jeffersonville (3-5) at Floyd Central (3-6): The Red Devils will be trying to avenge a seven point loss to the Highlanders in week 5, but the Highlanders will be trying to avenge last year’s seven point loss in sectionals to the Red Devils. Like last year, I feel like Floyd Central should cruise to an easy win but, as recent history between these two suggests, nothing is for certain. Still, Floyd Central is my pick. #6 Mooresville (7-2) at Jennings County (1-8): Jennings County is 6-36 all-time in the postseason. Half of those wins came against Madison with whom they hold a 3-1 postseason advantage (the lone loss was a double OT thriller). Unfortunately for the Panthers, they didn’t draw Madison this year. Instead, they get Mooresville. This is the third year the Pioneers have been a part of sectional 23 and, so far, they’re undefeated. That looks to continue this week as the game should be decided by halftime. Mooresville wins by a lot. -

I would hope nobody picks Jennings County. It’s going to be bowling shoe ugly. -

Week 9 Predictions BNL (4-4, 3-2 HHC) at Columbus East (3-5, 3-2 HHC): I would’ve picked a different winner three weeks ago. The Stars are definitely capable of coming in and getting a win but the loss to Floyd Central turned me off to them. The Olympians have improved a little since the beginning of the season. Not a whole lot like they usually do but I can see it. East gets the win. Floyd Central (3-5, 3-1 HHC) at New Albany (5-3, 5-0 HHC): The Highlanders have the pieces to pull off an upset in this rivalry/HHC championship game. It probably will be closer than most expect. Nevertheless, I still like the talent and experience the Bulldogs bring to the table. This is their year to win the HHC and they knew it before the season even began. They’re not sharing it either. New Albany gets the W. Jennings County (1-7, 0-5 HHC) at Jeffersonville (2-5, 1-4 HHC): It’s going to be another long night for the Panthers. The Red Devils could use this game as a confidence boost going into sectionals. Jeff is my pick. Seymour (2-5) at Madison (3-5): South Dearborn beat the Owls by 30 in week 1 before losing by three to the Cubs in week 2. That was nearly two months ago, though, and plenty has changed since then. For example, Seymour beat Jennings County by 21 in week 7 and Madison lost to the Panthers by four in week 5. I’m going by the “What have you done for me lately?” principle and Seymour has done a lot more than Madison has recently. Seymour is my pick. -

You’ve got plenty of time to make up the one point differential. There are at least four more weeks to pick games after this week. -

That’s not how I’m reading it. Looks to me like Floyd Central would be the home team in the championship game if BNL beats Seymour. If both make it to the championship game then neither team will have been on the road up until that point. Since they would have played the same number of away games (zero), Floyd Central would be the host because they’d be the bottom team in the bracket. -

They’ll be fine. They did much better in 6A than East did. -

Yep. It’s time for Cathedral to have another go around in 6A. -

Yeah I think New Palestine is the favorite but I also think Whiteland is very capable of beating them. What’s sad though is how weak 5A south is. The two best teams are in sectional 13: Cathedral and Decatur Central. Regional and semi-state will be a cakewalk for the winner (a.k.a. Cathedral). -

In case you guys missed it, here are all three sectional brackets involving HHC teams. Jennings County will be one and done. Columbus East COULD win but it isn’t likely. Therefore, for the purposes of this thread, all eyes will likely be on 5A sectional 16 during sectional championship week. -

It was over as soon as Floyd Central won tonight. Even if New Albany had lost, it would’ve been two one-loss teams battling it out for the conference title next week. -

So I had heard the HHC won’t penalize Floyd Central from not getting to play seven conference games and would award them with a share of the conference title if them and New Albany finish the conference season with one loss each. -

Week 8 Predictions Columbus East (2-5, 2-2 HHC) at Jeffersonville (2-4, 1-3 HHC): Knowing how bad the Olympians have played this year, I find myself constantly unsure of whether or not they can win. This is another instance of that. The Red Devils seem like they’re capable of winning this game but I guess I somehow trust them even less. East gets the win. Jennings County (1-6, 0-4 HHC) at Floyd Central (2-5, 2-1 HHC): To put it mildly, the Panthers are awful. They’re giving up 47 points a game in conference play which is much worse than any other team. And despite having played one more HHC game than the Highlanders, Jennings County has scored the least points in the conference. This one is going to get bowling shoe ugly. Floyd Central’s passing game should light it up en route to a blowout win. Madison (3-4) at BNL (3-4): I was quite surprised at the beginning of the season to see this game was still on the schedule. I figured the Cubs would only want to play Seymour and Jennings County after leaving the HHC. Maybe these teams couldn’t find a replacement. Regardless, if the Stars smashed Jennings County and Jennings County beat Madison then I feel Madison is going to suffer a similar fate against BNL. Stars by a landslide. New Albany (4-3, 4-0 HHC) at Seymour (2-4, 2-2 HHC): Could this be a trap game? There’s the potential that the Bulldogs could be looking ahead to next week’s rivalry game and a shot at winning the outright HHC championship. The one hour bus ride north to play a Seymour team that also overcame a two possession deficit in the fourth quarter against Columbus East is nothing to overlook. The Owls may be capable of slicing up that New Albany defense like so many other teams have done this year. Nevertheless, I’m playing it safe and going with the experience and skill of New Albany. The Bulldogs get the W. -
