Fairfield 02 Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 Are there any more NECC (Northeast Corner Conference) fans out here? Historically, the fans in this conference seem to be technologically mute, or maybe they just don't have the internet machines. Here's to hoping that there will be more conversation this year about this tiny little conference in Northeast Indiana. This thread will be dedicated to all NECC talk, predictions, and playful jabs. PLEASE reply! Starting with Week 1, what are your predictions, and why? Adams Central at Garrett Central Noble at West Noble Churubusco at Columbia City Dekalb at Angola Fairfield at Goshen Prairie Heights at Whitko Shenandoah at Fremont South Bend St. Joseph at Lakeland Woodlan at Eastside Quote
Fairfield 02 Posted August 20, 2024 Author Posted August 20, 2024 These are my predictions...based on not much....outside of the team I support, I don't know much about these NECC teams until they start playing: Adams Central 35 Garrett 14....unfortunately for Garrett, this will most likely be a repeat of the last two seasons vs. AC. Adams Central is a very dominate 1A team...and they will most likely reload again this year. Central Noble 12 West Noble 49...can anyone say Pruitt???? (I assume he is playing and healthy) West Noble has plenty of speed with this stud alone. Central Noble loses this county battle for the third year in a row. Churubusco 6 Columbia City 21...I really don't know much about either team except that CC has won this game the last 4 years in a row, and that Churubusco had one of their worst seasons last year in recent history. Hoping the tradition of the diesel smoke and pork burgers will help Busco have a better season than last. Dekalb 20 Angola 21...this one always seems close. I have no idea what either team brings to the table. Just rooting for the NECC in this one. Fairfield 28 Goshen 14...I typically don't pick the Fairfield, but I am going to start doing so this year. I have my reasons, but I think the Falcons are on the up swing with a solid senior class and a charismatic new coach. I also have reasons to believe the Redhawks of Goshen might have a tough year. You can't always believe what you hear though. Prairie Heights 13 Whitko 12...I think this was Whitko's only win last year. The ole ball coach at PH has a 12-72 record. Culture HAS to change for PH to find a win this year. Here's to hoping that PH doesn't go winless again. Shenandoah 21 Fremont 0...this might be a repeat of last year's game. Neither team will be super impressive and it will come down to turnovers. (My way of saying I have no idea what will really happen). South Bend St. Joseph 24 Lakeland 49...Coach O'Shea has the Lakers headed in the right direction. The Lakers win the battle of the baby blues two years in a row with a very impressive offensive outing. Woodlan 28 Eastside 29 2OT...Eastside has won this matchup two years in a row and they will get the TURKEY with the 3-peat. The Blazers haven't had a losing record since 2013, Woodlawn was 2-8 last year. Two programs trending in 2 different directions. I actually think Eastside will win by a decent margin, but I just wanted to create some drama. HAHA! Quote
NE8_Fan Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 Heard Carter got dinged up in the scrimmage last Fri against what appeared to be an improved Dekalb team. Hopefully he doesn't miss any time. Quote

Fairfield 02 Posted August 27, 2024 Author Posted August 27, 2024 This week's predictions: Blackford 7 Fremont 35: I think this is a positive matchup for the Eagles. Also, Fremont won this one on the road last year...so the fact that they are the home team this time really stacks it up nicely for them. Including this season, Blackford has only won 2 fames in the last 4 seasons, and were 0-10 last year. Bronson(MI) 19 Prairie Heights 28: I looked at the matchup history here, and this will be the 4th year in a row that these two teams will play each other. Bronson leads 2-1. I know that PH's 56 points last week might be partly because Whitko is very down, but I also don't believe 56 points just magically appear without having some talent. I think Prairie Heights has a lot to prove, but for another week, they have made a believer out of me. Eastside 14 Adams Central 28: Is Garret that good, or is AC way down? I don't see Eastside beating AC after a bit of a struggle against a down Woodlan team. AC wins this for the third year in a row. Garrett 27 Dekalb 21: Garrett might be for real. I am not sure. There hasn't been enough football played to really be able to tell. For now, I will jump on the NECC train for this one. Railroaders go 2-0. Heritage 28 Fairfield 35: We will find out very quickly what the Falcons are made of this week. Heritage had their way with the Falcons last year, however the Falcons are an improved squad, with several returning starters, and a new offense. Heritage also graduated 20+ seniors from last year's team, that finished 9-2. Both teams did not face strong opponents in week 1. My gut tells me that the Falcons could win by multiple touchdowns. Lakeland 42 Churubusco 20: Unfortunately, Busco gave up 61 points in this one last year. Although, I don't think it will be that much offense by the Lakers again, I do feel that they are heavily favored over the struggling 2A Eagles...why aren't they the Ninja turtles??? You had an opportunity there Busco....you did. Lakeland might be the team to beat this year in the NECC. We shall see. Leo 56 Angola 21: Angola gave up 50 to Leo in 2021, and it might happen again. Leo played a much better week 1 opponent, and will be primed and ready to insect spray the Hornets. Angola has a lot to prove after last year's 2-8 season. West Noble 49 Wawasee 6: The only reason that WN doesn't score more s because Wawasee will do their best to chew cock and keep the ball out of the Charger offense's hands. Pruitt will probably have 8 carries for 300 yard and 6 tds. He will be the fastest athlete on the field again Friday night. Unfortunately for Wawasee, they have some rebuilding to do. Woodlan 35 Central Noble 36 2 OT: I think both of these teams are trying to get traction and find out who they are. Central Noble wakes up after being thumped by WN and finds it deep in their hearts to pull this one out. Quote
Fan 01 Posted August 28, 2024 Posted August 28, 2024 Fremont 21 Blackford 13...I don't know much about either team. Giving the edge to the hometown Eagles Pr. Heights 35 Bronson 20...PH has a weak schedule to start the season, wins will come hard as the season progresses Adams Central 28 Eastside 21...Adams Central gets back on the winning side this week Fairfield 28 Heritage 27...This is a toss up. Heritage torched Fairfield through the air last year and Fairfield struggled at times last week defending the pass against a terrible Goshen team. The Falcons offensive line dominated last week and I expect them to be strong the entire season. The rushing attack leads Fairfield to victory in a close game. Lakeland 56 Churubusco 6...Lakeland is good! Leo 56 Angola 13...I've heard a lot of good things about Leo, Angola is no match for the Lions West Noble 49 Wawasee 0...Pruitt runs wild in an easy win Central Noble 21 Woodlan 20...this is strictly a guess Quote

Fairfield 02 Posted August 29, 2024 Author Posted August 29, 2024 What's so shocking about that? Quote
Fairfield 02 Posted August 31, 2024 Author Posted August 31, 2024 Quick thoughts about Fairfield's loss tonight. -The defense played well...they were unfortunately on the field ALL night, due to Fairfield's inability to move the football offensively. -The offense lacks creativity, relies way too heavily on the inside run, and lacks a threatening passing attack, or use of tight ends and wings in the passing game. (It looked VERY SIMILARLY vanilla to the past recent season's offenses, even though it's a new system). -I was impressed with Heritage. Even though they made several mistakes and were penalized several times, they made plays when they needed to. They are talented and well coached. -I still feel like the Falcons have a lot of talent, and just need to find way to capitalize on it. -I expect Heritage to have a great year. Quote

Fairfield 02 Posted September 4, 2024 Author Posted September 4, 2024 My predictions for week 3 in the NECC: Angola 34 Fremont 0: Unfortunately, this is looking like a rough year for Fremont. Both teams are 0-2, but Angola's level of competition has prepared them better for this game than Fremont's first 2 games have for the Eagles. I am surprised that Fremont put Angola back on their schedule after taking an 7 year break for this matchup. Both coaches last names are Thomas. Any relation??? I seriously don't know. Eastside 14 West Noble 63: I am not sure that anyone in the NECC can touch Pruitt. This one was pretty ugly last year for Eastside...and I think it's going to be even worse this year The talent level in the big schools versus the small schools in the NECC this year seems to be as far apart as I can remember. The Chargers win for the third year in a row. Garrett 42 Churubusco 7: Garrett has been surprising this year. I was very impressed with their week one win against AC, and then they won a close one last week vs. Dekalb. If the Eagles change their name to the Ninja Turtles before this game, it might be a little bit closer...but...I digress. The Eagles will get Railroaded on Friday night. Fairfield 21 Jimtown 20: I was very disappointed with the Falcon offense this past week. I am hopeful there have been some "tweaks". This one is personal for Jimtown, as they will be facing their previous football coach who is now coaching at Fairfield this season. Fairfield has been a bit of an enigma the first two weeks. Jimtown is 0-2, but have played 2 tough oppnenets in the first 2 weeks. This will be a close one. LaVille 14 Central Noble 7: It's going to be a long year for the Cougars. The first 2 weeks have not been very impressive for them. I just don't see them winning this game, nd looking at their schedule, I am wondering how many wins they will have this season. Lakeland 49 Prairie Heights 6: I love that Prairie Heights is 2-0. However, it will be 2-1 after this Friday. The John Harrell web site dates games all the way back to 1994. Since 1994, Prairie Heights has beat Lakeland ONE...yes, ONE TIME, in 30 seasons. That was in 2003, 21-20 in OT. Needless to say, this means Prairie Heights is the 2nd best high school football team in Lagrange County. I said football, not fútbol (Westview Soccer Fans....sheesh). I mean....since Lakeland has gone 29-1 in this matchup in the past 30 years, it makes me wonder why they still even play this game? It's not a divisional game for either team. Also...Prairie Heights has only been 2-0 one other time in those 30 years. So...this really has been a great start for them, but they can't compete with the Lakers. Quote
