temptation Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Ben Davis @ Warren Central: These two seem to have flip flopped from 2023 and 2024 as BD now appears to be in rebuild mode, whereas Warren is the state title contender. Still can't wrap my head around SIXTEEN consecutive quarters without allowing a point. Regardless of what level of competition you play, that is insane. I'll say BD gets a score or two this week, but not much more. Warren's offense seems to slowly be figuring it out too, which should put the rest of the state on notice. Not surprised THAT they beat LC, rather HOW HANDILY they did so. Warren rolls this week, 27-9. Indianapolis Tech @ Lawrence North: This one will be over by the end of the first quarter and will set up a HUGE LN/Warren showdown for MIC supremacy in week 6. The Wildcats coast here and the main goal is to stay healthy. Best offense in the state versus best defense in the state in week 6. LN rolls here, 56-0. North Central @ Cathedral: Another one that should be over early as the Irish host NC who is on a 26 (yes 26) game losing streak. Cathedral makes it 27. Irish win 41-7. Pike @ Lawrence Central: Actually the most intriguing game of the week in the conference for me and I never thought I would have said that before the season started. Both teams have taken a step forward but are also a notch below where they need to be to be a real player in the conference. I will go LC in a close one, 27-23. Trotwood-Mason (OH) @ Center Grove: Trotwood is 0-4, in rebuild mode and is traveling to the southside of Indy to take on a CG team that seems to have found its stride after the opening week loss to Westfield. I predict a long bus ride home to the Buckeye state. CG wins this one 34-10. Brebeuf Jesuit @ Carmel: This one could actually be interesting despite the Braves taking the role of David here as the Braves seem to be a real player at the 3A level. The Braves can put up some points and the longer this one is close, the more the pressure shifts to the favored Greyhounds. I say Carmel is too much and wins this one 30-17. What say you? Quote

I remember 2019. The Warriors came into Giants Stadium ranked #1, and the Giants were going the wrong way at 1-3 after being blown out twice and a 35-34 win over Pike. The Giants had a chance to line up and tie it with a last-second field goal. It was blocked, but Warren was flagged for coming onto the field during the live ball. BD lined up again, kicked the PAT and then won it in double OT. Not sure that will happen again. This Warren team is better. I think they're the best team in the state. I think it may be their year. I'd love it for Mike Kirschner. I can't really argue with your score prediction. Giants just aren't there yet. Would LOVE to be wrong. LN scores as many as they want vs. Tech NC gets thumped, agree. Center Grove, who is very solid, obviously, rolls. Carmel wins Quote
roaringthunderdlr Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 (edited) Carmel vs Brebeuf is the most intriguing matchup here IMO. Brebeuf has a top 5 offense in the state but their defense is not very good. Their offense can play with anyone. Their defense can too. It will be close and high scoring early but later in the game Carmel's defense will adjust and Brebeuf's defense will have no answer for Carmel. I also think that Terre Haute South will be another extremely high scoring game for Brebeuf. THSV has an incredibly good offense with a poor defenses. Both offenses should be able to do whatever they want with the defenses in a few weeks. Carmel 70-35. Other Predictions: LN 63 Tech 0 (42-0 after 1) Cathedral 35 NC 10 Warren 21 BD 0 CG 24 Trotwood 6 LC 35 Pike 34 Edited September 18, 2024 by roaringthunderdlr Quote
