temptation Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Ben Davis @ Carmel: Things went from bad to worse for the Giants last week as their "Warren hangover" carried into a dismal performance against LN. Shows how brutal and unforgiving central Indiana can be as the Giants fall from grace just months after winning the state title continued. Carmel needed last week badly as NC was a "get right game" for them. I think there is a healthy respect between these two rivals which is why I think it will be closer than most think. Carmel still pulls it out though. 27-17 'Hounds. Center Grove vs Cathedral (@ Marian): Really excited to follow this one as I am still on the fence as to whether or not these two are title contenders or are a step behind the HCC's top two. Admittedly, I have not followed much more than box scores from CG specifically but their last two contests were closer than I anticipated. Cathedral will be interesting coming off of a bye which is rare. I will take CG 30-24. Lawrence North @ Warren Central: Best offense in the state against the best defense in the state. Might shock some folks to read that LN is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these east siders. I think these are two programs headed in opposite long term directions. Doesn't mean Warren CAN'T win, but they will have to clean a lot of things up as LN will make them pay unlike others on Warren's schedule. I think this is a changing of the guard at the top of the conference. Mallory is using the CG blue print with track and field and the Wildcats are thriving in both seasons. LN wins 31-14. Pike @ Guerin Catholic: Did a double take when I saw this one on the schedule as this is an odd matchup. Pike has a couple of impressive wins on its resume but has sort of come back down to earth. Guerin has taken on some local 3A/4A powers and has provided little resistance to them scoring. Guerin can score but I will stick with the larger school with the more impressive win to its credit. Pike wins 30-21. North Central @ Lawrence Central: Not sure what else I can say about this one as it is LC's turn to get right with the Panthers on the schedule. Bears win 34-7. Quote

BDGiant93 Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 At this point, I just think that it's too heavy of a lift to see BD go on the road and win at Carmel. Carmel 24, Ben Davis 21 I think Center Grove is a really solid, good football team in all three phases. I think McWilliams pushes them past the Irish. Center Grove 21, Cathedral 17 I agree with you. I think Lawrence North is the best team no one is talking about right now. You called it earlier than I did. If BD's offense can drop 28 on the Warriors, I'll say that the versatile 'Cats can go for more. Also, we need to talk about LN's kicking game too. They're just solid. Lawrence North 38, Warren 28 I think NC is the worst team in the MIC, and I think LC appears down, but they, like Ben Davis, have played a brutally tough schedule thus far. Thus, I don't see this one being close. LC 38, NC 14 Quote

WarrenGrad12 Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Genuinely curious: how come it’s a weekly topic that Warren hasn’t played anyone yet LN has an opponents combined record that is actually worse than Warren’s? Someone will compare LN’s performance against to BD and then I will point out how Warren had little issue with LC as opposed to LN. Quote

Warren went double OT with BD and should have lost while LN destroyed BD in a game that was worse than the final score Quote

Pretty simple honestly. Quote

Warren has a great defense, but I think LN's offense has more firepower than what BD did. It's just an opinion. 1 hour ago, WarrenGrad12 said: BD dropped just on Warren and 2 extra possessions from the 10 yard line to boot. 21 not 28. I'm losing my marbles. Quote
