Who do you have as the #15 team...because if it is Penn, then that has already been accomplished. lol

I will curb that statement and say I think the Penn game would be significantly different if it were to be played on week 9 rather than week 2. With that being said, Mishawaka took care of business when the game was played, and my hat tips to them. I hope they go on to win state in 4A.

There's fifteen really good teams in 6A, so it's arguable that no one outside of 6A is Top 15. Just as it's arguable that there are a few that are. I still put Mishawaka and Chatard at the top of the list to break into that group.

So, if Penn beats Elkhart, lets say by 14, that proves our stance Elkhart is overrated. If Penn wins in a one score game less than 5 lets say, are the still overrated?

If Elkhart beats Penn by 14 do they get a boost and a see they are for real, or do they get the well you beat a highly overrated (over expectations) Penn team.

Idk. I think either way both Penn and Elkhart should not be considered for a top 10 spot. maybe keep them somewhere in the 11-15 slot.

I did have a person who is close to the Elkhart program tell me yesterday that he thinks Penn will win by multiple scores.

If Elkhart wins a close one, coupled with a one point loss to Concord, they're still on the outside of the Top 15. They'd have to beat Penn by 14+ for me to even consider them. Penn on the other hand is a head scratcher. They beat a Valpo team that's down by just a touchdown. Their 20pt loss to Mishawaka gives me lots of reservations. I think they'd have to beat Elkhart by 17+ for me to give them consideration for the Top 15.

also there seems to be a failure of logic going on

trigger warning: I think Mishawaka, concord, and elkhart are very good football teams and they very well could win their respective classes. (not elkhart they don't have a prayer)

however you seem to be rating mishawaka so highly due to their performance against Concord.

and likewise you're only rating concord so high due to their performance against Mishawaka and elkhart

and Elkhart is only being rated so highly due to their performance against concord.

at a certain point, all these teams have played each other close, and it is the only worthwhile game any of them have played so far.

and the north does not exactly have a reputation of success coming to LOS in 4a

You can't just go by the final scores of games! Styles make fights and so do rivalries! All of these people voting, or making up polls, have never seen most of the other teams( other than the one they're affiliated with and their gameday opponents) even play!

i've made no comment on where I believe anyone should lie, simply stating that you cannot say one team has a better resume than another, when they really don't have a claim to that. Mishawaka could be the number 1 team in 4a, who knows, anyone is Fine to use the eyeball test, just say that. don't go around telling me that they have quality games, when their only claim to that is losing to a team that is only considered quality for beating them.

anyways circle dot line theory dictates that I shall put my money behind whoever I believe is better between Chatard and New Pal.

Historically, it's hard to bet against those two. I still don't see New Pal as a Top 15 (overall) team though. Why is everyone all of a sudden putting this New Pal team in the same category as their 2018 and 2019 programs? I haven't seen them play in person, what am I missing? All I see are blowout wins against sub par 4A opponents.

I look at a lot of these polls and see similarities to what I'm seeing on Sagarin. To anyone reading this. Sagarin is LOADED with flaws. They had Columbia City dubbed as the 13th best team in the state before last night for crying out loud. I'm not right very often, but I am right about this. Pollsters need to STOP looking at the Sagarin ratings.

Just checked this mornings ratings. Heritage Hills is favored over Center Grove. East Noble comes in at #14, Snider at #28. Snider already beat East Noble by 25pts. I appreciate what Sagarin does for Indiana high school sports, I really do. But you have to take it for what it's worth.

The biggest flaw with Sagarin is that they don’t take into account games played against out-of-state opponents. That can be huge for SoS for some of these schools. I constantly go back to Calpreps because they rank every team in the nation based on the same metrics. Equal playing field. Maxpreps uses them for their rankings. Just looking at the state Top 25 for Indiana is enlightening because SoS is glaring. It isn’t just wins and loses but also quality of those opponents as well as scoring differential.

Here is a link to the current All-State rankings. https://calpreps.com/2024/ratings/Indiana_all.htm

16 of the Top 17 are 6A.

Reitz is 18  New Pal is 19. Look at their SoS  It’s not even comparable. You actually have to go to team 33 to find a SoS lower than either of those two

As I have said many times, head to head matters the most  Common opponent is also significant.

Reitz best win is against a team ranked 1617 in the nation  NP is against 2927.

Neither of them would stay on the field with a top 10 6A team

I agree, I think 6A dominates the Top 15 with maybe Chatard breaking through.

New Palestine is not at the caliber they were in 2018-2019 which was a top 5 team regardless of class (as evidenced by their wins over top 6A Center Grove). They are however a very good 4A title contender and also would be a title contender in 5A.

New Pal and Chatard are what I would consider the favorites of 4A. A game between the 2 of them would be a pick-em in my opinion having watched both play.

I agree, New Pal and Chatard both would be considered favorites at either level. I like Chatard at this point more than New Pal. I just don't seen anything on their schedule that merits "Top 10 regardless of class) talk.  I just think the Top 15 6A teams are being underestimated.

Scary thing is Chatard has a lot of young players contributing. They have a very good Sophomore class that will do well in 4A the next 3 years.

If they're that good they might be 5A.
