Against Cy Young winning pitchers he batted .339. There is a clip on facebook of John Smoltz being interviewed about the one hitter he hated facing. he stated a couple stats Gwynn had against him that were really impressive. Quote
Irishman Posted June 20, 2025 Author Posted June 20, 2025 Have to admit I had doubts going into last night's game. Incredible performance; would have loved to been in the building for the full experience. 1 Quote

The frustrating part is just blatant it has become. The storyline of 2 small market teams was good enough to just let it play out. The NBA never learned from the other sports that small market teams succeeding is a positive thing. One team being a HUGE underdog was a big story as well. I always have been and always will be a Pacers fan. But I root for them now more out of spite for the rest of the league and those who run it. What is going to really suck is that this team has one more season to win a title. They will likely come up short again. And while Carlisle MIGHT be safe in his job, the roster is likely going to be blown up and shift to a rebuild rather than adding players to overcome the next step. Even adding players and letting others go will definitely have an impact on the team chemistry. I love this team and the current roster. What they have done since January has been special. But these guys are also quality guys in and around the community. Such a shame that such a remarkable run had to crash and burn the way it has. I know OKC is the better team, but there is ZERO doubt the series should be 3-1 Pacers going into last night’s game, just like the series against Boston last year should have been 3-1 Pacers. Kind of an ominous prediction. No way did I see it playing out this way, or even this soon. The Pacers had game 4 stolen from them. The league wanted a 7 game series. Had they been allowed to just play it out, the Pacers would have been up 3-1. Good chance they still lose the way they did in game 5. But imagine if game 6 were the game to win the title. But nope. Instead of Tyrese getting a title and resting what was a more serious injury than anyone really knew, he is now going to miss all or most of the upcoming season and the team is hit hard with losing him. Nice job Adam Silver. 1 Quote

Irishman Posted July 18, 2025 Author Posted July 18, 2025 I remember watching this game. It was every bit as crazy as it sounds. The stats are insane. For those not on the book of faces, it’s about the Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma game with Mahomes and Mayfield as the starting QBs https://www.facebook.com/reel/1123421732978211?fs=e&fs=e Quote

Bobref Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Here’s one that hits close to home: There have only been 2 athletes in history who have played in both a World Series and the Final Four: Tim Stoddard and Kenny Lofton. Both are from East Chicago Washington High School. And here’s another. To my knowledge, there is only one person who both played against Tim Stoddard and umpired a game Kenny Lofton played in: Me! 3 1 Quote
Irishman Posted January 16 Author Posted January 16 How long can MLB continue on its current path? While Tucker is making $60 Million, The Dodgers are so far over with the luxury tax that they are paying 110% of the value of player contracts. So they will be paying $66 Million, for a whopping $126 Million. That combination alone is higher than what 11 teams spend on their entire roster. Quote

As a longtime Cub fan, I'm not the least bit upset about the departure of Tucker! A .266 hitter making $60M is just plain ludicrous! He's a decent everyday player, or at least that's what he was with the Cubs, but certainly not that elite. Good luck to the Dodgers for that contract! Quote
