Bringing this back as it is always a good way to drive engagement ahead of the first week of the season. As a reminder, these are completely hypothetical point spreads created by me. For those unfamiliar with spreads, I'll post an example(s) below.

Example: Ben Davis @ Warren Central (-3.5) indicates Warren Central is a 3 point favorite.

Alternatively, this could be written as Ben Davis (+3.5) @ Warren Central.

If you were to pick a side on this game, you would say Ben Davis +3.5 indicating you think BD loses by 3.5 or less or wins outright. Alternatively, WC -3.5 indicates you think WC will win by 3.5 or more.

PK (pick'em) indicates the line is "even" and neither team is deemed to be favored.

As aways, a lot is unknown in the off-season and it is impossible for me to stay on top of every team in the state, so feel free to let me know where I am way off or any big games I missed for this week.

Week 1:

Garrett @ Adams Central (-2)

Ben Davis @ Cathedral (-15.5)

Andrean @ Merrilville (-24)

Carmel @ Fishers (-5.5)

Center Grove (-14.5) @ Warren Central

Danville @ Gibson Southern (-11)

FW Carroll @ HSE (-19.5)

Concord (-6.5) @ Elkhart

Decatur Central (-12.5) @ Avon

Evansville North @ Castle (-12)

FW Luers @ Leo (Pick'em)

Lafayette Jeff @ Chatard (-8)

Lawrence Central @ Lawrence North (-28.5)

Mishawaka Marian @ Mishawaka (-27)

Mooresville @ Bloomington North (-7.5)

New Pal (-43.5) @ Kokomo

Noblesville (-23) @ Mount Vernon

Penn (-6) @ Valpo

Pike (-9.5) @ Zionsville

South Putnam @ North Putnam (-1.5)

Spalding (Maryland) (-26.5) @ Brownsburg

Warsaw @ FW Snider (-7.5)

West Lafayette @ Harrison (WL) (-6)

Whiteland @ Columbus North (-18.5)

I’d lower those Cathedral/Decatur Central spreads big time.

Cathedral very well probably should have been lower, but need to see more out of Avon to give them more respect. Perfect opportunity for them on Friday, and for the record I think they are very capable of winning the game.

I’d also expect LN/LC to be more competitive as would I Spalding/Brownsburg.

Just my take.

LN/LC possibly, but Spalding's schedule from last year in insanely impressive I find it harder to move it any lower. 6 shutouts, never gave up more than 14

Probably going to receive a hard time for overreacting to a scrimmage, but I heard Avon was extremely impressive on the east side Friday night.

I don’t see Brownsburg losing by four touchdowns on their home field…now if it were St. Frances (MD)?

Yep.

I agree. Outside of that, nothing really stands out. I think Avon will give DC a nice little welcome to 6A. It's not logical, in my opinion, to think some of these <6A programs can have a good season and suddenly call themselves Top 10 overall. There are fifteen 6A programs that would cause any program 5A or below a massive amount of grief. Avon covers the spread.

Cathedral and Ben Davis is a head scratcher. Although the Irish waxed them by 18 last year, the Giants seemed to have improved as the season went along. I really don't know much about Russ Mann and his capabilities as a coach. One could say his program tanked in year two, which isn't a very good sign. One could also say that his team last year got better as they went, which could be a very good sign. Should be a good game. I'll take Ben Davis to cover.

Out of Northeast Indiana, I'll take Snider to cover over Warsaw. One team has experience in the trenches, the other does not. That'll be the big difference in this one.

Avon looked to make strides last year and I think they would like to take next steps. Decatur Central always has some talented players, they were a very slow starter last year though with that loss to Columbus North 41-15. I think it should be a good game but I may lean more towards Avon.

I wouldn't put a huge spread on the Cathedral Ben Davis game. The Giants last year looked to me as a team with a new Offensive CoOrdinator who was still learning his players and the players were still learning the OC's system. As that started to click you saw them get MUCH better. Should be a very good game at the Butler Bowl to open the season.

If it were at Pike, likely.  I think that it'll be a one possession game.  Could be wrong.

Agreed. Most likely outcome to me is a possession either way. Ill go with Pike 23-17 but it might just be your propaganda influencing me.

No propaganda at all.  Pike competes for the conference crown in any conference not named the MIC/HCC.  That is as far as I will go.

I've heard talks of Andrean being really really good this year. Is Merrillville going to be that good that they are going to dust Andrean that bad?

I haven't heard anything on Andrean, Merrillville should a top 5 or 6 5a team at worst. This series has been lopsided as of late and just going back and looking at the scores, Andrean hasn't kept it within 19 points since like 2018 I believe

Luers will be ready in Week 2. Good tune-up game with Leo first week.
