Several good opening week matchups to see where everyone is. Pretty obvious everyone is chasing Riverton Parkes and I don’t think it’ll be close. I swear to God I don’t. The Loins have an  opportunity to make a statement against Liptons and I think they will. The games…….

Attica at Faith Christians 

Carroll at Seegers

Covington at Tri County 

Crawfordsville at Parke Heritage 

North Central at North Vermillions

Riverton Parke - Linton at Rose Hulmans

Southmont at Fountain Centrals

West Vigo at South Vermillions

Attica - Giving attica this one. Should be improved from last year, and Faith was one of the worst 1A teams last year 

Caroll - Seeger return one of the better QBs in the conference, but graduated a large chunk of their running offense from last year. I don't see another season like last year, although the WRC is weak enough that it's possible.

Covington - Smooth sailing for the Trojans week 1

PH - I don't know much about Crawfordsville, but I do know the Wolves have improved a lot this year. Favor the WRC here

NC - NC has some athletes. NV not as many. Heard Hinchee is a solid QB. NV still a year or two from winning games.

RP - 15-0

Southmont - As if losing a HOF coach wasn't enough, they lose the best athlete in the conference from summer basketball. Going to be a long season for the Earls.. hopefully he learned something as an assistant under two HOF coaches in the WRC, because he will need it. 

SV - Still young, but returned a large core. I look for them to be competitive in the WRC this year, but not quite competitive at the 2A level yet. 

---Excited for another season of WRC football. Can't wait to watch the Panthers hoisting the Lombardi trophy in November!!

Well, well, well... We are back again. I think there is one for sure favorite in the conference but think there are 2-3 teams that can compete for 2nd place. Everyone will be chasing the Panthers but believe Seeger, PH, and FC can make some noise for that second place spot. 

Attica  @ Faith Christian- Coach Dean is doing what he can at Attica and he is bound for some success this year. I think Attica can get a win early this year. I'll take the Ramblers winning this one. 

Carroll @ Seeger- Seeger has the skilled positions to be really good but do they have the guys upfront? I know they graduated a lot of those guys last year. I think Seeger is right up there to be battling for 2nd place in the WRC.

Covington @ Tri County- Coach Wheeler is doing the right things at Covington he just hasn't had the guys to do it. I think the Trojans will start the season 1-0.

Crawfordsville @ Woofs- The woofs are much improved from last year. I think they are another team that can compete for 2nd in the conference as well. Not sure what Crawfordsville has going on but I am going to take the woofs to win the season opener. 

North Central @ North Vermillion- North Central as some athletes and North Vermillion is still a few years out from winning some games. TBirds will start their season 1-0. 

RP @ Linton- Do the tenderloins have what it takes to win a big game? Some may say they haven't done it yet. Or in the wise words of Billy Bettis they are a one trick pony. Will Coach Oliver have what it takes to stop their run game? I think this may be the game of the week and game of the year until the late post season. I will take RP scratching one out over the Miners. 

Southmont @ FC- Do the Earls have what it takes to fill the shoes of Herb? I don't think FC is going to have a year like they did last year. With the QB out and them losing most of their lineman last year they may struggle in some games. I did hear they had a kid transfer out and then come back. I don't think they have what it takes to beat the Mounties. 

West Vigo @ SV- Does Crabtree carry his hatred for SV with him? SV has some decent athletes they are still just a few years out from being a good football team. I don't know much about the Vikings this year... I will take the Viks over the Visors.

Happy to be back and playing meaning football again.  Two weeks of non-conference games will give us a good indication of where teams stand.  Some coaches/AD's take the path of playing extremely competitive teams and others find wins and/or competitive games for their programs and neither are wrong for doing it.  

Attica at Faith Christian - Great matchup for both teams.  I'll take Attica in a close one.   20-14.  BTW- Check out Coach Dean's podcast.   Great listen. 

Carroll at Seeger - I would love to see this matchup later in the season.  But I think Carroll has the advantage simply because of Seeger's new coach and system.  Carroll 42-20

Covington at Tri County - I really hope this is the last year of this series.  If Covington wants to take the next step, they have to play up.  Trojans in a blowout 51-0

Crawfordsville at Parke Heritage - This is probably the toughest game to pick all week as I don't know much about C-ville.  The Wolves are the sleeper of the WRC and I'm sticking to my guns.   PH over C-Ville 26-20

North Central at North Vermillion - I was told NC has under 20 players this year.  Any truth to that?   Regardless, they will have the best player on the field.   NC wins 35-12

Riverton Parke - Linton at Rose Hulman -  I would have love to of seen this match-up last week at the Jamboree but wasn't able to make it.   I'm sure both team were vanilla, but would have been nice to see how they match-up.  Big and Physical vs Tradition and discipline.   I'll take the Panthers 28-20

Southmont at Fountain Central - Regardless of injuries to the Mustangs, Coach Earl will have to wait another week for his first win.   42-6 Southmont

West Vigo at South Vermillion -  I don't think the Vikings have the athletes to keep up with SV for 4 quarters.  The Wildcats defend their 7-7 title in their opener.  35-21

LOVE ME SOME WRC FOOTBALL. It will be different this year without King and Crabtree. 

Attica @ Faith - Faith Christian starts the year with a win. They are much improved from the past two years. Attica will be in this game until the end but the Eagles pull away late. 26-21

Carroll @ Seeger - Cronk gets to start his head coaching career with a tough win. Still a team I don't know a whole lot about but I know they have good athletes. Seeger 35-28

Covington @ Tri County - Does tri county have a team? I thought I heard they went to 8 man? Game or no game Covington wins easily. 60-0

Cville @ PH - I've heard Cville is much improved this year and we seem to think the same about the Wolves. I'll take PH in a close one. Game will be over soon as both teams will run the ball. 28-20

North Central @ NV - North Central is getting some early season recognition as I believe they are ranked 12th. NC does whatever they want against the Falcons.

RP vs Linton - Now this is what I'm talking about! This is will a great test early on for both teams. I will have to lean towards Linton but I love RP taking this game. It will only prepare them for later success. Linton 35-24

Southmont @ FC - FC biggest was losing Herb King. Long long season for the Mustangs. Mounties by as much as they want 

West Vigo @ SV - Crabtree and the Vikings will keep this close. Both team will be better then they were last year. I'll take the Vikings 20-14

This weeks wildcard matchup is Delphi @ Benton Central - The Bison are looking tough this year. They return most of their team from last season and the addition of Coach King makes this team dangerous. Both team have new coaches and I'm picking the HOFer. Rumor is that his H back / tight end is a D1 caliber of athlete. Scary to give him too many weapons. Look for the Bison to score in bunches this season BC 28-14
