Congratulations to these All Stars selected to play in the 57th Annual Murat Shrine North/South Football All Star Classic. 

Friday, July 14th 7:00pm - Decatur Central High School

Glad to see there's some Evansville area players on the team! On the offensive side, Mason Wunderlich gets to hand off to Chase Jones and throw to Xavier Thomas. On the defensive side, they got Kelton Farmer clogging the middle with John Purdy and Clay Conner roaming around behind. Not too shabby! Very talented players to represent the South.

Wouldn't it make more sense to have 2 or 3 based on school size? Get more kids exposure by doing 1&2, 3&4, & 5&6A and make one N/S, another E/W, and whatever else.

We have looked at this in Softball. There were many concerns that it gets too watered down. I understand completely the thought process for expanding it. But regardless of how many players/teams you have someone will always feel slighted or people will question how so and so made it. It’s an imperfect system no doubt, but I don’t think a major expansion is the right answer.

I would rather regional all-star games expand.  For example, the Wabash Valley Coaches Association hosts an all-star game.  Last year there were players from 36 schools in Indiana and Illinois.

I would bet Evansville, Ft Wayne, and Da Region could all get enough interest to host a similar regional all-star game.  

Although, since these players have graduated HS, can a player play in both the Wabash Valley game and the IFCA N-S game?
