How could Coach NOT remember Bobref in those white knickers? Thank you for the awesome story. Coach really does seem like a genuine, nice guy. Had Coach not learned anything in his 50 years (or so to that point) on Earth? 😂

I agree except for Dallas. I think the Niners dominate them, stopping short of taking their women folk……..at least until the number 6 dance that night.

Harbaugh’s “satellite camps” during the summer of 2015/16 came to Indy and the guy could not here been more personable. One of the coolest days of my life as it was full access and I stood on the sideline and watched the UM staff coach up the kids. Also, via my experience teaching/coaching at an Indy 6A school it was a constant revolving door of who is who in the college football coaching world. Ok, brag time over.

Turn the clock back about 30 yrs. and St. Joe was playing at Munster, and Digger Phelps’ kid plays TE for St. Joe. Got to chat briefly with Digger before the game. I was crushed that he didn’t remember me. 😂 I was a sophomore at ND when he showed up there to rescue the basketball program. I used to see him occasionally on campus or in the ACC.

SMH. And they know you are a Hoosier fan. As an Irish fan, a few years back, St. Joe’s played @ KV for sectionals. I was at the game watching. BK’s son played for SJ. BK was in attendance. My friend, who is a HUGE ND fan, was working the gates at the game. He texted to tell me to come take a picture with him and BK. My friend has a nice picture of himself and BK.

Also remember that during the time between Elmhurst/Harding out and Carroll/Homestead in, each team in the SAC had 2 non-conference openings but they were spread all over the schedule. One team it was Week 2 and 6. Another it was Weeks 4 and 5. Point being, with the new format having the non-conference weeks being the first two of the season, it makes it a lot easier to schedule Indiana opponents. While some of those Toledo Whitmer, Cincinnati LaSalle games were exciting to look at on the schedule, they basically came about because of the inability to find anyone in the state to play.

As would Merrillville and Chesterton. As they would be in conference (DAC) play.

Todd observed us this year, he was very fair and provided valuable constructive criticism. A true ambassador for high school officiating. He will be missed!!!

The Indiana officiating community lost a giant yesterday. Todd Clark, a Lafayette veterinarian and 40+ year football official, passed away unexpectedly. Aside from being a multiple state finals football official, Todd was a key member of the observer corps for the last several years, despite being confined to a wheelchair. Todd became well known briefly when he had a heart attack on the field and was successfully resuscitated by the athletic trainers on-site. He continued to officiate for years after his recovery. Todd was a great guy, a former IFOA board member, a valued member of the Western Indiana Officials Association, and a good friend of mine for 20+ years. He will be sorely missed.
