  2. I don't necessarily disagree that it should take at least a state championship and then another season of regional or SS championship to advance, but these are the rules that we play by. The IHSAA clearly wanted to provide other teams opportunities to get to LOS, like it or not. AC has gone from 1A in 2023 to 3A in 2026 and I would tell our fans, as I'd tell Luers fans, to embrace the challenge. The Luers program will have to improve to meet the new competition level and I'm sure there will be some new names on the roster to help out. Fort Wayne has a big pool of talent. Our journey is a bit different because our enrollment shifted to bottom half of 2A when we were going to bump up due to SF, so we were moving to 2A no matter what. Regardless, AC went on to win state the next year and they were a TD away from making it back to LOS this year. Considering Andrean beat Luers last season in week 2, I think it's more than a maybe as to whether or not they could beat them. I'd argue that Andrean, AC and Eastbrook all would've competed with Luers last season in the playoffs. Different year, different teams. Who knows what would happen this coming season? AC gets their shot week 1 to open up the 2026 season.

  3. I have a feeling his solution is going to be to hell with classes. The problem is solved by having one big state playoff and one champion lol.

  5. Luers absolutely should move up after destroying Knox.

  6. I'm not saying the answer is to sit around and sulk about it. I can't imagine any coach doing that. But as a fan, I can advocate for a change in the rule. I have a hard stance on this one and would defend any program regardless of where they were located. I was about to get on here and defend Merrillville as well, but without giving it much research, I'm presuming they bumped to 6A due to enrollment, not success factor points. I appreciate your well thought out response. Your opinion is respected.

  7. I'll agree with you that it doesn't make sense to not win a state title and get moved up, but to say that it is the end all be all for Luers is ridiculous. They have proven in their conference and in playoff play that they can punch well beyond their enrollment. Obviously they are well coached and have athletes year in and year out to win. If they don't, they will be in 3A soon enough again for another go round at the 3A state title. There are schools that are still looking for one state title to show at their school. They still put their heads down and get to work every year in hopes of it being their year. I think Luers and their fans are just getting a small taste of what most of the schools in Indiana feel every year. The odds stacked against you, how are you going to respond? Throw a fit and say it can't be done, or find a way to make it happen at the next level you have to face. You are a passionate fan of Notre Dame from what I have seen in other threads. Did Notre Dame get cheated out of the college football playoffs? Absolutely, the second the bracket was shown and they weren't on it, Freeman had them with their heads down pushing and working already for the next year.

  8. I'll bet you dinner at Ruth Chris that Luers doesn't survive that sectional. Wives are welcome. Probably talking $500+. Proceed with caution.

  9. Common Sense has left the building... This looks really accurate as to how the sectionals "should" break down. The only problem with this format is that you have to anticipate HH falling back to 3A next season into 31/32. cant have a 9 team sectional.

  12. There does seem to be a bit of thought put into the 1A sectionals. 31 is the region and friends, minus South Newton, 32 is Lafayette, White and Carroll County, with South Newton and Clinton Prairie as a +1. Sectional 33 seems to be centered around Kokomo, while sectional 34 is the Ft. Wayne, Wabash, Wells, Adams County sectional. I do find it interesting that Pioneer and Caston were kept together, yet the Clinton's were separated. Poor South Newton seems to be on an island, while Pioneer, Caston, and the Clinton's seem to be on the far edges of too many sectionals. In the past decade, Pioneer has been in every 1A North sectional but sectional 34.
