The coaching staff is what will lose them the game.
In a world where you have said many ridiculous things, THIS might be the most ridiculous thing you've ever said.

Most years. Otherwise, great post.
The last time a team from outside the Donut won the title in the highest class was Penn in 2000. While the North has produced good teams in that time span, let's not kid ourselves here.

The 'Indy bias' is justified seeing the dominance Indy has had over the largest classes for the past 20 years. Teams from outside the donut will need to win multiple state titles in order to shake that off, one won't be enough (nor should it be considering said Indy dominance).
I do think this CP team is pretty good, as do I think Carroll is good.
Are either good enough to beat whatever Indy team they play in the semistate? I'm not sure. I think some of us thought Merrillville was good enough last year and we saw how that turned out.
I will say in regards to CP that I think they're better equipped to deal with a team from down there than Merrillville has been the past 3 years mainly do to their line play, discipline, and the expertise of their coaching staff.
Good thing the tournament is starting soon and all of this speculation and posturing will be put to rest.

Luers is a contender imo. I could easily see them getting to at least semi-state.

The QB returned last week that went out against merrillville week 1 if I remember correctly on radio.. he split reps with his back up. And the coach said it will be a game by game or a situation by situation basis because the backup had earned his spot to compete too. Personally I think they switch it. And go back to the one who led them to state.
I didn't see the game but from checking MaxPreps I'm not sure this is accurate unless all Ballentine did was hand the ball off as they didn't record him throwing a pass. Also didn't see Skinner say anything in the Times or Tribune about the situation.
For what it's worth, here's Henry's stats so far this season: 140/194 (72.2%), 1469 yards, 18 TD - 2 INT, 120.4 QBR.

Off topic but I think Norwell is barely top 5 in 3A…(ducks head on way out).
I was a believer until last week. Now I'd have to agree with you.

If a computer can now "solve" the game of Chess it can rank a few high school football games.
In chess there are objective 'best moves' based on the game state, etc. This is why a computer can figure that out. They don't do as well with subjectivity.

I'd be down for this and could help grade as well. Unfortunately I can't help with any sort of digitization of the picks.

I mean, the best Sectional draw by far is Warren Central's. Ben Davis had those other three teams that are now in Warren's Sectional for the last few years, and, while Perry is much much improved, I'm not sure there's a team that can prevent a running clock in the second half in that Sectional vs. the Warriors. I'd say Center Grove is a close second in that department in 6A.
I think those are a little different because of the groupings of those sectionals. CG and Warren literally couldn't have gotten a bad draw. I was talking more about sectionals where draws can actually impact who ends up winning.

I mean seriously, two conference champions (Brownsburg and Ben Davis) aren’t going to win a tournament game while two bottom feeder teams (Pike and Avon) are going to play for a sectional championship.
And the regular season (and winning a conference championship) actually has meaning?
GTFOH
Oh no, one team isn’t going to get to win the one playoff game they otherwise would have. What an absolute tragedy. How will they ever recover from this great injustice?
If all you’re judging is postseason success then even with a qualifier you could say the regular season results don’t matter at the end of the day.Get off the internet and go get a breath of fresh air. You’ve been posting constantly on this thread for days now and clearly you’re very mad lmao. It really isn’t that big of a deal and you better get used to it because the IHSAA doesn’t seem like they’re going to change it anytime soon.

Oh no, I had one. Calm down, son. It’ll be alright.
Just show me on the doll where the all-in format hurt you.

If you tell your players that going undefeated puts you in the best position to advance in the tournament, you’d be called an absolute liar.
As you should be.
Good thing no one is making that claim lmao. Keep constructing strawmen so that you can knock them down.
Hope it makes you feel better about yourself. This is getting sad.

I do find the discussion somewhat interesting as I've never seen anything close to a groundswell of support FROM THE PLAYERS about regular season games not meaning anything. It might be a fan issue, but of the various players that I've known over the years in Indiana, I've not ever heard of complaints about the regular season games not meaning anything. The smell on the bus? Check. The long drive into another timezone? Check. The small visiting locker room with one working toilet? Check. Not getting cheese on the Subway sandwiches on the ride even though their parents paid for cheese? Check. Horrible fields? Check. Too hot? Check. Too cold? Check. Regular season games not meaning something? Not so much.
This. If you told any coach or player in the state that regular season games don't mean anything, you'd get laughed out of the room.
As you should be.

I would argue Vincennes got the short end of the stick. Not how the Alices would want to go out after a "turn around" season and some success in the SIAC.
Definitely could say that looking at it from their perspective. I was looking at it from the viewpoint that GS is the defending champ and is many people's (including myself) pick to win 3A South. Just felt that the draw had higher stakes for them. Still expect them to get through.

Norwell should win this one handily if they are serious contender for 3A

This will go unnoticed by many people, especially @Komets2727 @scarab527
There are pockets of sectionals littered across the state where many and/or all the teams will be ranked outside the top half by Sagarin. Because games are played, someone eventually HAS to win. That’s the flaw with the all-in blind draw. Those teams shouldn’t be in the postseason and winning a sectional with a bunch of other teams who also shouldn’t be in the postseason isn’t justification for keeping an archaic postseason format.
Except if you look most of these teams would’ve had to have beat teams in the top half of the Sagarin ratings to win the sectional, just judging from their rankings in the class and their rankings in the sectional.
Back track some more then try again.

Maybe you ought to go look at another thread started by someone where they did the research and showed at least 15-20 sectional champions that wouldn’t have qualified via Sagarin, and additionally multiple teams that went further into the playoffs that wouldn’t have qualified even state champions… this list includes Luers…
@Bobref should take a look as well.
A lot of guys acting smug on this thread only to be proven spectacularly wrong…
-
But I was told in another thread that teams in the bottom half of Sagarin have never done anything in the post season ever.
In all seriousness, good job with this.
