  1. If the IHSAA had the same format as in recent years with knowing which classes were on Friday and which were on Saturday for state finals weekend, they could play specific games on Friday nights and specific games on Saturday. This would help with planning and prep and rest time for the following weeks Championship game.

I always have mixed feelings when CG plays LN given that my loyalties are obvious but I consider Pat Mallory a friend and want to see him succeed.  Lots of familiarity among the coaches, lots of wing t, and lots of talent on the field.  Should be fun.

Do either of these teams really consider wing-T as their base anymore though? CG is probably in it more, but they do pass a lot and are in the gun most of the time from what I have seen this year.

    Spreads according to John Harrell

    Carmel @ Brownsburg (-1)

    Ben Davis (-32) @ Tech

    LN (-4) @ LC

    Columbus North @ CG (-28)

Two super intriguing contests, two snoozer contests.

    Predictions

    Bburg: 21     Carmel: 14

    Ben Davis: 56       Tech: 7

    LC: 21          LN: 17

    CG: 42         CN: 14

Carmel wins again against Brownsburg. Dogs keep it close though. 23-15 Greyhounds

Ben Davis dominates. 48-0 over Tech

LN wins in a thriller 32-29

    CG 42-7 over CN

    Carmel at Avon:

Two teams with completely differing goals entering the postseason.  Carmel has its sights set on a rematch with Center Grove (though they cannot overlook contests against Brownsburg or BD potentially) while Avon is trying to simply stay competitive here.  Both defenses have gotten better it seems but their starting line was much different.  Gimme Carmel 42-21.

    Brownsburg at Pike:

We have once again reached that time of year where Brownsburg gets another opportunity to prove the doubters wrong.  A regular season juggernaut that seems to fizzle in the postseason.  I foresee little trouble with Pike though this one to be closer than many think early on.  Brownsburg 28-7.

    Southport at Ben Davis:

BD begins its quest for a third straight sectional title and the Cardinals should provide little resistance.  BD rolls 51-7.

    North Central at Lawrence North:

NC is looking to end a season that they would like to forget.  LN has revenge against Warren on their minds.  Like Brownsburg, no one will take the Wildcats seriously until they make noise in the postseason.  They roll here though.  LN wins 34-10.

    Warren Central at Lawrence Central:

Two teams that ended the season in complete opposite directions face off tonight on the northeast side.  LC is the most improved team in the conference and Warren may be rusty after so much time off.  I still feel they get it done though it is closer than last time.  Warren wins 27-17.

    Center Grove at Franklin Central:

The Trojans once again call their final score here in ending what looks to be a promising future for Franklin Central.  Gimme 48-7 CG.

    Carmel over Avon 38-14

    Brownsburg over Pike close 23-18

    Ben Davis over Southport 50-0

Lawrence North 28-14 over North Central

    Warren 35 Lawrence Central 16

Center Grove over Franklin Central 49-7

  5. Quick question that maybe somebody could help me out with, according to john Harrell's site, it says Cathedral will be away for the sectional championship next week regardless of Decatur or THS winning. I realize it will probably be Decatur, but if it was THS, wouldn't Cathedral still be home? They are on the bottom of the bracket and both teams would have played the same number of away games thus far (which is the rules according to the IHSAA for determining sectional championship host). This is the same thing for Zionsville in their sectional. Was wondering if somebody could clear that up. Maybe John Harrell's site is wrong or maybe that is the correct way it is with these 5 team sectionals with the teams who had to play the extra game.

Carmel will be an underdog..I think they made top 115 in the nation on the latest poll..granted not top 10..yet still ranked..Westfield wasn't far behind..yes ik..polls smolls

I am still waiting on Westfield to Man-Up and play Carmel in the regular season. 5 minute drive and would be an enormous crowd at 2 beautiful stadiums. Could be a top regular season game each year. Ridiculous that they don't play.

I guess we just have to wait for Carmel to join the HCC...

You might be correct, but that's not what I was told, by someone I believe is a reliable source.  Anyway, we will find out in a couple months.

From my understanding, this was an extra year given. An extended year. The new enrollments will be released and new classifications will start. Success factor points will go from last season and this season.

I personally do think what the IHSAA released was a bit confusing, but this is what they said and I also heard from a reliable source this as well.

I’ll stand by my claim.  Just because it was equally pitiful for both teams doesn’t mean it was the right decision to play this game at Arlington Middle School.  I don’t care what Cathedral deems it’s home field.

It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out when the 10 day forecast showed the amount of rain Indy was going to receive that this was going to happen.

Game could have easily been moved but I have a sneaky suspicion one team didn’t want it to be for obvious competitive reasons.

I’m all for what some folks above consider “old school football” but that was pathetic last night.

100% agree with you! Heard through the grapevines that CG offered Cathedral to allow them to use their facility. Would have given Cathedral the entire gate money, home stands, and allowed them to complete their senior night facilities. There were individuals that were on board for this, but ultimately got turned down.

Either way, atmosphere was still amazing and it ended up being a solid game despite the terrible field.

It is nothing personal, but there is no room.  Maybe 5 bodies can get inside...we have our radio team, two coaches and PA guy and it is PACKED.  Our video guy / coach is stuck outside and usually sets up behind student section.  All the visiting coaches have to take a spot top row of the stands either left or right of press box.

Every visiting teams has to put up with the same thing.  It has been this way FOREVER at Arlington.

    Gotta love old-school.

    That sound awful lol
