This is embarrassing at this point. Carmel the mega school can’t play CG? Wow. Comical.

My vote is to have the Bloomington Schools join the SIAC. I69 makes it an easy drive. Come on down guys!
I think they would prefer to be in the Indy area rather than Evansville

Conference Indiana is stuck. Terre Hautes make it difficult and they really do not have a true place. Bloomingtons and Columbus North need to find a true home.

Last night the group looking at downsizing/right sizing the corporation outlined 3 ideas.
One has SB with 4 high schools. Another 3 high schools. The last 2 high schools
Under the scenario Clay would be gone in 2 of them Riley would be gone in the last group.
The 2 high school concept would leave Adams and Washington
When would these plans go into place?

Still rather them play an Indiana school. I know it’s a big time matchup and I know for CG’s sake that they are struggling to find games. I love INDIANA high school football. I don’t mind these matchups every so often but I feel people want them all the time now.
It is ridiculous that these “MIC” schools won’t play CG or Carmel. Seems more towards CG.

St. Ed’s: two state titles in a row in OH.
CG: three state titles in a row in IN.
What class is St. Edward in?

Is this game part of the Freedom Bowl held in Canton Ohio?
Looks like it will be held in Massillon. Paul Brown Tiger Stadium. 4 games over the course of 2 days.

That’s who I was thinking. The travel in Conference Indiana isn’t much better than the NCC, but Tech will be looking for a home if they don’t fulfill their dream of ending up in the MIC. I’m not sure how the Bloomington schools and Columbus North would feel about adding Tech. Southport would probably welcome Tech since they are close, and the Terre Haute schools should be open to anyone joining just so the conference stays alive. I don’t think any of the Mid-State Conference schools would see Conference Indiana as a greener pasture.
Mid state is a better conference. I would feel some of those conference Indiana schools would love a shot to join mid state.
I believe all schools would be fine with tech joining. They need to add schools for scheduling purposes. Especially football. Going from 6 to 7 would definitely help. Columbus East potentially if they ever get tired of their opponents, but I feel that is a super long shot.

Yeah I think you meant 2023.
Definitely meant 2023 lol. Still have 2022 on my mind.

There is a potential for Tech. They definitely need a place to go in a year.

Who is the favorite and what are some things to look for this upcoming season in Conference Indiana? Is there a chance at a state title in the future for this conference?
Used to be regarded as one of the best in the whole state. Now lots of talk about the future of this conference. What is on the horizon? Potentially departures? Potential adding of schools?

I’m not 100% sure myself. But I certainly hope it isn’t the national team .. for BD’s sake.
I hope it is. I believe that is what everyone is thinking it is at the moment.

I saw above that BD has a “loaded roster” in 2023 which may be true…by Indiana standards.
BD has a few kids getting D1 offers and of those 2-3 are power 5.
Though I am sure a lot can change with IMG’s roster from the time of this post until when the game is actually played, at first glance IMG has four 5 stars, seven 4 stars and two 3 stars on the roster according to 247.
In other words, BD will have a couple power 5 kids on the field and a handful of mid-major kids. IMG will have multiple kids who end up in the SEC and end up making money on Sundays.
Hope I am wrong but BD keeping this competitive would be a shot in the arm for Indiana high school football.
If they can remain competitive.
So is it truly better for BD to replace CG with them? What is really truly better for Indiana football? What is better for the Ihsaa?

Is it that great for Indiana high school football though really?

Center Grove realizing it’s harder to fill that football schedule than they imagined.
I’m sure their fans are having a blast playing Jennings County in a big rivalry match in basketball on a Friday.
This is about more than football and basketball. It’s no secret that MOST MIC schools do not compete well against CG and Carmel in the country club sports.
I firmly believe that Carmel would be welcomed back, regardless of the butt kicking they might take in certain sports.
In all reality, do the other sports even matter? Financially they need football and basketball. It’s the only sports that make money for the school. Other sports lose money.

Looks like Ben Davis will play IMG now for week 4. That takes the previously scheduled game of CG vs Ben Davis.
-
I also would love to know which MIC schools truly do not want CG and Carmel and which ones are open for them coming back. To me it still seems pretty silly for those schools to kick them out and then want to continue playing them. Kind of a weak outlook to me.

Is it correct that of the original MIC teams that only Center Grove has open weeks(5,7) for the 2023 season?
Looks like CG has weeks 5,7 open. Hearing they are struggling to fill that. Also, may have a potential week 4 open as some Ben Davis faithful seem to think they have another game they’d like to play in that week instead.

Some version of the MIC may still exist along with two. But with the growth of some of the southside schools to match up with HCC size schools, I think you're gonna a see an HCC like conference pop up on the "south" side.
I see this as a potential. Who would make up that Southside conference? You would think that some of those MIC schools now would likely try and join either of those. The MIC will still live on, but it will never be the same. The MIC made a huge mistake by getting rid of Carmel and CG. And Carmel and CG made a huge mistake by automatically thinking they were set to join the HCC. Something has got to give soon.

5/5, now what category?
I take back my guesses. Speaking with some pretty good sources that I consider solid, it does not sound good for a Carmel and CG return to the MIC. Many of those MIC schools are taking CG off their schedule. Breaking contracts even for this season…

Shoe ins w/principal approval: Center Grove/Cathedral
Still unsure: Carmel
Longshots: ?
Not sure I believe that about cathedral. Maybe CG. Carmel may want to stay independent or try again for HCC

Yep. Only a matter of time…

Regardless of the story, don’t you think this is all way over done? I mean at some point think about how ridiculous this all is. Over high school sports. Kids make mistakes, adults make mistakes. Does that mean every personal associated with that school or community is that particular way? This is idiotic.
I used to love the MIC and travel to many games each season. I am saddened by the events from the past couple years to the dismantling of it. I cannot believe the biggest and best football schools in Indy are choosing to stray away from one particular school. This is a disaster for indianapolis football and it is dangerous for the IHSAA. I really hope things can get solved in the near future. Very sad days for Indy metro football right now.
