  1. Really impressed with the Fort Wayne Summit City Sports. They do a great job. As a side note to that - the Homestead High School student broadcast is very impressive as well. I wish Warsaw could emulate that in some capacity. I don't know why they cannot because they have (or at least used to) a fantastic student broadcasting class and equipment, etc.
  2. Does Coach Johnson teach at Northside? I only ask because in the video he mentioned the relationship with the kids and whatnot and I agree completely that a school like North Side would benefit greatly from their HC walking the halls of the school.
  3. If only someone on this thread had mentioned previously how silly it seemed that they had games scheduled to start the last week of February... glad to see the HCAC made the change. At this point, I don't see why they don't just push everything back another week and start games March 13th and have the final games on April 24th, but maybe they want to keep that extra week as a possibility for potential COVID postponements. Either way - happy for the kids to get the chance to play a season!
  4. I almost couldn't believe it when the HCAC (confernce of my alma mater) announced a spring season with the first game being February 27th. I wanted to say "don't these yahoo's know how freaking cold Indiana and Ohio can be in February?" especially considering practices have to be starting soon if they have not already. Temperatures well below freezing especially in North Manchester, Defiance and Bluffton these next few weeks! BRRRRR 🥶 I'm glad the boys will get to play a season, but at the same time, it's too bad they could have pushed it back to a start in beginning of April and just run through mid-May. I know classes/finals are usually the first week of May and what not, but baseball and softball teams regularly stick around after classes end if they make it into national tournament play. I feel like they could have done a 7 week season doing this: Week 1: 4/3 Week 2: 4/10 Week 3: 4/17 Week 4: 4/24 Week 5: 5/1 Week 6: BYE WEEK during finals* Week 7: 5/15 Week 8: 5/22 Seems very strange to me that they are trying to start the season in February and be finished by April 10th when they could just keep kids on campus for an extra 2 weeks (and focusing just on football), but I digress. *assuming everyone has finals the same week. If they don't... I guess I can understand the reason for starting the season so early.
  5. Sorry you are correct. Not dots, but upper left corner in the browser website, there is an "aA". Click that. Then click "Request Desktop Website". However, when on this I still do not see the option to review my messages. I swear I have done so in the past, but alas I must be mistaken.
  6. As an iPhone user myself, what @foxbat outlined above will work FYI. Click those dots and select "Desktop site". Then you'll see the forum on your phone just as it looks on the computer. As he said, it' a little off, but you can zoom in and zoom out pinching/expanding your fingers to move about the site.
  7. Interesting to note - Dublin Coffman's Head Coach Mark Crabtree stepped down yesterday. He has coached for 39 years and served as the head coach at Coffman for 19 years. Crabtree ends his coaching career with a 150-47 record with the Shamrocks. https://www.10tv.com/article/sports/head-coach-of-dublin-coffman-football-team-stepping-down-after-nearly-20-years/530-d5bb8676-7c5d-45b9-91d5-4ddc383c6c4f The new head coach will be opening his Shamrock tenure in Warsaw, Indiana.
  8. Interested to see if Rochester can bounce back and start making improvements. I know the loss of Coach Hooker a little over 2 years ago has played a role into things, but the Zebras had only 3 losing seasons from 1985 through 2014 but have now had 4 losing seasons in those 6 years since. Any hope for a turn around in the near future in the land of Lake Manitou? As well, interested to see year 3 for former Tiger coach Phil Jensen at Whitko. They improved from 0-10 in year 1 to 4-6 last year with a few competitive loses. Would be great to see the Wildcats break the .500 barrier this year.
  9. A bit of a specific example, but Bremen just beat Penn Tuesday night in basketball. It's the first time the Lions have beaten the Kingsman since joining the NIC. The previous 5 games were blowouts with Penn having a 31 point average margin of victory.
  10. The game will be played on Friday, August 20th at 7:30PM at Fisher Field in Warsaw. It is a one year deal. Coffman will be Warsaw's first out of state opponent since 1955 when they played Moosehart (IL).
  11. Per Chuck Freeby's twitter account - the Warsaw Tigers are opening next season against Dublin (OH) Coffman. Talk about a SIGNIFICANT schedule booster. I have not seen where this game will take place yet. The Shamrocks are one of the best Columbus area football programs. They regularly make the Division I playoffs and have a 46-12 record over the last 5 years, with a number of former NFLers as alumni this millienium. As a Warsaw Tiger who has transplanted himself to the Columbus Ohio area, I am excited to see how Warsaw holds up to this level of play. Wow!
  12. You are making a comparison to one of the largest schools in the state, but at the same time you proved the point. When comparing North and South to Ben Davis, Ben Davis has 5 less administrative positions. North South Combined Ben Davis Principal 1 1 2 1 Asst. Principal 2 2 4 5 Deans 3 3 6 2 AD 1 1 2 1 Total 7 7 14 9 Again, I could care less either way if any school consolidates. But it is not factual saying "big schools use the same amount of administrators". It's one of the main reasons schools consider consolidation.
  13. *initially it would be the most "cost-effective" thing. But when schools consolidate, it's more about the long term savings that drive these ideas, especially among administrative costs. Why pay for two principal's salary's of $100K+ when you can pay for one? Why pay 8 assistant principals salaries when you can pay 4-6? Why pay 2 ADs and 2 Asst. ADs when you can pay 1 AD and 1-2 Asst ADs? etc etc. I have absolutley no dog in the fight here and could care less either way, but wanted to point this point that the feasibility study you provided (which is awesome thanks for sharing that) is only concerning construction comparisons and not the overall savings consolidation looks at. For example, in Elkhart, it's not like they built a brand new high school. They just made Elkhart Central's building the Elkhart High School East and the Elkhart Memorial building into Elkhart High School West. I think each school has different types of "Schools of Study" that their students choose to go into.
  14. That's fine. But that is not what I understood @ts32 to be saying. You asked what his post meant and I provided an answer. Doesn't mean he was advocating for or against consolidation of Terre Haute high schools. However, it is an interesting note to make considering the superintendents previous experience. Unforutnately, either way I feel like it is a bad decision for Terre Hatue. Either spend more money when you could save it by consolidating OR put yourself on a huge island (especially in terms of athletics) by being a rather large school out on an island as you point out.
  15. I think it just means the school corporation has a superintendent in place that has recent knowledge and experience when it comes to consolidating two high schools into one, especially when you compare the size of the schools in question. Just interesting similiarities is what I took from @ts32 post.
  16. I am not disagreeing with your statement here, but looking for more insight. What reasons do you believe Merriville and Valparaiso will take a step back over the next few years? Too much talent loss from this season's teams for each and not enough in the pipeline?
  17. It truly must be exhausting to go through life with such limited brain cells. I pity you. It's how you stated the fact that makes it irelevant. Saying they haven't beat Marian since 2013 is truly idiotic considering they have only played one time in that time span. The fact that they haven't beaten them since 2013 means nothing. It could have been 2017, it could have been 1997, but if they only played one time during any period of time, it is a fact that does not give much credence to your argument. Does the fact that Ohio State hasn't beaten Purdue since 2013 meant the Buckeyes are on a downward trend? It's a year off from the exact time period you are trying to use here, but it is a fact that is irrelevant to the current status of Ohio State's program. Now, if you had stated your fact that they lost to Marian for the first time since (ever?), THAT would have more weight. But claiming they have not beaten them in seven season, when they have only played once during that time frame is not a good supporting fact to your arguement. However, I understand at this point I'm talking to quite possibly the densest human being in the planet and it does not matter. Have a Merry Christmas, you deserve coal in your stocking. Over and out. Glad to have the Cavemen in the NLC! I think they are an excellent fit and addition to the conference, especially football. It will be interesting to see how other sports incorporate to the conference.
  18. Not at all. It's when I realize I'm having a conversation with an extremely dense human being and do not feel like wasting my time anymore. The fact you provided is a fact, however it has no weight into the arguement of whether or not the Penn program is in a downward trend. I've provided my argument on the matter and feel as though it is extremely valid and see no point in continuing. I am not wrong that the fact Penn has not beaten Marian since 2013 means their program is down. They may be down, but going 0-1 against Marian in the 7 seasons since that year means absolutely nothing toward that discussion. Move along troll.
  19. I am not disagreeing with you that Penn is down. I'm pointing out your massive flaw in trying to use the "fact" that they haven't beat Marian since 2012 as part of your reasoning for claiming they are down. You are truly a troll.
  20. LOL yes, but you're trying to insuiate that SINCE Penn has not beaten Marian since 2012, that means they are down. See your OWN WORDS below: Go ahead and take this MASSIVE L my friend.
  21. In this instance? Absolutely. Just because it is the truth, does not make it any sort of measuring stick. If they have not played since that time, it literally does nothing to strengthen your argument. Thus, a terrible take. It's literally like saying Fort Wayne Snider hasn't beaten Warsaw since 2009. It doesn't mean anything because they haven't played since then. It's not like Warsaw has stopped Snider from beating them in that time.
  22. Bingo @PDB26 !!! What a ridiculous argument/point to be made. That's like saying Ohio State hasn't beaten Purde since 2013... when they've only played once (2018) in those 7 seasons. Terrible take by @XStar here. Other points are pretty good. However - remember the topic here is about Mishawaka joining the NLC, not Penn's potential decline as a state power. Create another thread for that, I'm sure you'll get plenty of people from all over the state weighing in there.
