Man... I am NOT trying to rain on Coach Wilson AT ALL here, he is a freaking standup dude. But I fail to see where they had made any headway.

Not that there isn't more to the story, just mentioning...

Games I saw I thought the program was making progress. That being said I did not see them this year. I said what I said.

  2. I really have no idea on that. I know there are several really bad football programs across the river in a short driving distance. I’ve worked there in Football and Softball with KY teams.
Huge investment in facilities in the last few years, Coach Wilson was winning some games. I thought they were making some headway. Why do I get the feeling there’s more to the story.

Pretty cool. My kids attended a county HS that has been an elementary school since its consolidation into Seymour. There is still a lot of pride in that school.

8 man is very small right now. The teams are currently Deaf, Dugger Union, Rock Creek, Waldron, Trader's Point, and Purdue Poly - Broad Ripple, with Faith Christian moving to 11-man.

I wonder if any other teams will add an 8 man team. Morristown and Southwestern Shelby seem like prime examples due to Waldron's participation. It really does depend on the school's interest though. I really doubt a basketball powerhouse such as Barr-Reeve would give much thought as their focus is almost exclusively on basketball, but a struggling program like White River Valley could give it a shot.

I would say there’s a better chance of starting soccer in Brownstown than starting football at Barr-Reeve or Loogootee.

As far as football goes, Chatard beat them this year. I think they would take home all the titles. They are just too good. Their youth program is the best in the state. Weight rooms great. They have some of the best school lunches in the state or something like that...unstoppable football program.

Westfield has a Sushi Bar…..just sayin.

I'll try to gather some figures this evening. I can start with 2001, when 4A state champion Jasper's only loss was to Heritage Hills.

Chatard beat Roncalli or Cathedral how many times it also won 3A?

There were some 3A Memorial teams which I believe also bested Reitz in the same years.

    I swear it's true. 👍

It became much more frequent when all the Purichias, Adamses, and Cmehils started migrating from the west side. If Ritter hadn’t screwed the pooch no one would be talking about Lutheran, they’d be stalking about Ritter.

John Hendryx got them going and Coach Radtke has kicked it into high gear.

I’ll be honest, prior to Radtke showing up I’m not sure I had ever heard of Knox. But here’s what will happen. Knox will be well prepared. They’ll have a great game plan and they will execute it to the best of their ability. And at the end of the day, they’ll lose to a better team, but they will show up and compete.

So are you saying that a quality youth program has no beneficial effect on the HS program? The ignorance.

One aspect specifically relating to Catholic schools that is often overlooked is multiple K-8 feeders feeding one HS. Looking specifically at smaller classes, but the fact that one HS might have 3-4 QB’s getting quality reps in MS, 6-8 RB’s, 15-20 OL, etc. While their public school counterparts have only one feeder school so competition starts in the 7th grade. Again looking specifically at boys how many public school kids lose interest because their classmates who matured sooner dominated all those positions in MS and walked away. Then the late bloomers are beasts when they’re upperclassmen but they’ve moved on to other things.

so just unlucky for those teams that his year's version of Chatard got to head back to 3a

They would be very difficult to handle coming out of 4a North, wish we could get that East Central vs Chatard this year,  that would be quite the slobberknocker

I think EC competes very well this year in 6A. Chatard’s day is coming.  I could see them moving on to 5A, depending of course on Memorial’s status. Who’s run in 4A has been impressive.
