Regular Season Matchups 2021
Spitting Llamas replied to Indiana Fan's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Looks like Memorial starts strong and finishes with a tough one but is pretty soft in weeks 5,6 and 7. -
Burnett has been playing football for years. I'm not sure how "raw" he is. I will agree though, he is lightening fast. If he gets the corner, goodbye.
-
Haha. No kidding. And while we are asking for things, can Covid be over before next season too?
-
I've heard rumblings that Herdes is transferring to Memorial but I don't have much faith in that happening. I also heard he was transferring to Mater Dei for his freshman year and obviously that never happened.

Who is the Reitz impact running back next year? I don't recall seeing that kind of player on their roster this year. Brickey and Brown were very good but both are gone. Not sure who else remains.

WeBo is very good. Yes, their O-line isn't big but they are physical and aggressive. I wouldn't say the defense is fast, but they all fly to the ball. I haven't seen anything of Luers, but it will take a good effort for anyone to beat WeBo. Unfortunately we didn't give them our best shot but they made us look bad everywhere. Good luck to both teams. I'm sure it will be a good one.

SIAC Postseason

I think we could be looking at a change at the top of the conference next year. I know Central is losing an awful lot of talent -

I don't see anyway MD vs. WeBo goes over 48 points. I could be wrong but I would gladly wager the under on that one. -
I assume what you are saying is accurate but isn't Brownstown about 90 minutes from Evansville? The game was played at 11:00 AM Brownstown's time which means they could have left their school at 8:00 AM and been at the field by 9:30 AM. Not exactly the same as MD making a 3 hour bus ride for a game that started at 11:00 AM Evansville time. But it's all over now and doesn't really matter anymore.

The fact that there are no PPs in 6A further demonstrates that the current system is working. If PPs were truly "at the very top of the heap in all classes" as you put it, there would be PPs in 6A. The fact that there are not should tell us all we need to know. The current system keeps PPs from being able to dominate their class because they are moved up to a level where they simply can't have that level of success. Case closed.

I'm not sure why what we are currently using doesn't work. If a team is successful and earns enough points they "bump up". If they continue to be successful they continue to move up the ladder. Maybe we change the points system or what it takes to "bump up", but just moving all private schools up based on twice their enrollment regardless of success seems ignorant. There is no reason a school of any size should be penalized and placed in a class well above their enrollment when they might have an absolutely horrible athletic program. Indiana classed all sports many years ago to give more kids a chance to be successful. Now it appears some don't feel the right people are benefitting from classification.

What you don't understand is that none of them go to MD for football. Some go to MD and play football. Football isn't the reason they attend Mater Dei. I hate to say it, but if you were going to go to an Evansville school solely to play football, it wouldn't be Mater Dei. They go for the education and because their grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles all did.

2 A Sectional 40
Spitting Llamas replied to itiswhatitis's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I've never seen anyone run that offense as well as it was run in the title game in 2014. That was a very impressive performance but I'm not sure we will see that level of execution and athletic ability. -

I believe Tell City had some guys out because of Covid contacts. I think I read on Twitter it was 5 starters. Not sure if those players will be back next week or not for the Linton Stockton game.
