  1. We are saying the same exact thing. The OP posed the question in coach/football speak. Or at least I took it as that. I have heard that language at every stop I coached at and every coach I spoke with.
  2. I would say no, it is not immediate. From my coaching days, the LT was taught, "1 thousand 1, 1 thousand 2", then cut. That is not an immediate, initial action. Taught to watch the entire block. If we have to 2nd guess what we see, most times you will see no flag. The LT's immediate, initial action is towards that 3, so I would say that is legal. I hope this helps.
  3. Agreed, but WHY? What are they offering/doing/etc. to get the players? O$U and ND...same climate. Both recruit nationally. Both have clear paths to playoffs. IMHO, the ND standards are the only thing holding the Irish back, and I am 100% OK with that! ***Clemson and Bama are THE teams (of any sports) in their states! ZERO competition.
  4. I remember watching a Bama game on CBS a few years back. I believe the Bama RB was Josh Jacobs, but I could be wrong. The announcers mentioned that the RB only had 1 other offer besides Bama. That was very suspicious to me.
  5. I mentioned this before, though do not remember which thread.... Has Bama, Clemson and O$U taken "The U" (Howard Scnellenberger/Jimmy Johnson teams) recruiting method to an entirely different level?
  6. If not just that (^^^), then what else?
  7. Well said. My question is, what is keeping Notre Dame from getting the same players as Bama, Clemson, and O$U?
  8. Which point are you referencing Mike?
  9. Sounds correct, as long as I am interpreting your description correctly. Immediate, initial action are major keys in the free blocking zone. Illegal Blocking----9.3.2 situation (d) That is a tough, yet "doable" block by the OT on the 3 tech. We always made sure that if the OT was going to cut the 3, the OG next to that OT, does NOT even touch that 3 tech. We didn't want to be called for a "high/low".
  10. LOL. I am an Irish fan who is excited, yet VERY realistic. Words and "hype" do NOTHING for me. Actions and results are all that matter. ND has "The Chosen One". Ok, great. And? Show me. Prove you are "The Chosen One" (whatever that means). Beat the teams in the playoffs. Be the difference maker. Beat the BEST teams on your schedule. Couldn't agree more.
  11. Well said post. Thank you. No idea. As long as Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson still call the SEC, I am good.
  12. Oh, I would imagine there are some lawyers out there that would be happy to sink their teeth into this.
  13. Title IX would like to have a word with you.
  14. In your pregame, who would you normally designate to look for the LB trying to cut the FB? U or R? It happens so fast, at times the U might get his cushion eaten up real quick.
  15. Not making this about the virus, but all the "effects" are coming to an end, so yes, the NCAA will survive in this time period.
  16. Come on Bob, you and I both know, that is a rule that will stay. I will buy you a Gatorade flavor of your choice, if the NCAA removes that rule after the virus.
  17. Should be very interesting for true, triple option teams. Many teams have their linemen shoot out and bear crawl up to the 2nd level, which in turn, leads to "cut" blocks against LBs and cranked down safeties. In my coaching days, I even saw these as clips. Never once called. In turn, I also saw many LBs "groundhog"/create a pile, in the hole. Not taking the lead blocker on low, literally creating a pile. Never once called. Very tough to call, but not impossible.
  18. I am with you. Money and greed ruin so many things.
  19. It was from the thread titled, Welcome to the New World of NIL.
  20. All this NIL and free for all transfer portals are making college football the true NFL Minor League. @Bobref mentioned something about getting rid of age requirements of players entering the NFL draft. Does anyone know, or care, what the CFL age requirements are? I can see in the near future (***if possible***), HS athletes forgoing college football and going to play in Canada.
