Maybe those chartered busses could have stopped the onslaught that awaited them in Hamilton County :)

I don't know of a field in central Indiana that still plays on grass, at least among the schools that are still playing.

I live a short distance from the school. I drove by late yesterday afternoon when the team was practicing outdoors in the snow. Now win tonight, and they will have the luxury of practicing next week inside at nearby Grand Park. I haven't been by there yet today, but the yards and rooftops are cleared of snow. The wind is still blowing out of the west, so with that large press box, it's a good direction for us on the Westfield side. The wide open visitor side, well, dress warm :)

I've heard the same about both the HSE school corporation and Westfield. I'd say most here don't want a second high school. There were stories about how it divided the Fishers community after Fishers HS opened. That second middle school is overdue, except their sports domination in Hamilton County will probably come to a close :)

This would be my ideal 6A title game. A rematch of Westfield's only loss, 17-13, where they twice had the ball iinside the Brownsburg 5 yard line and did not score. The second of those was late 3rd quarter, when the QB Carsen Melvin was knocked out of the game and did not return. It would assure that the HCC finally gets their first 6A title, although they have had quite a few in the lower classes, with Zionsville, HSE, Franklin Central, and Brownsburg all winning titles before the HCC existed, and Westfield and Fishers both winning 5A titles while HCC members.

Not only are HSE and Fishers both 6A now, but both have over 3.000 students. They would be largest school in the state if they did like Carmel, and just keep adding on capacity instead of splitting into two high schools. Fishers won Class 5A in just their 5th year of existence in 2010. HSE actually won the 1A title in 1981. They have been runnerup in 1A, 4A, and 5A.

So HSE winning at Carroll 45-21 was not manhandling them, but CP winning at home over Carroll by 38-21 is manhandling them?

That is true. Those upper sections run on either side of the press box, which is two stories.

The first player listed, Deacon King, also is their #1 running back with 1208 rushing yards. He was the top rusher in the HCC and #2 in class 6A. He rushed for 220 yards and a TD, also caught a TD pass, in last Friday's win at Fishers. It was the second time he ran for over 200 yards against Fishers this season.

That is what is listed as total capacity. Seats run end zone to end zone on the home side, and between the 20's on the visitor side.

Riverview Stadium has a capacity of 5,000. Probably 3,500-4,000 are on the home side. Even with the weather forecast, I'll predict that the home side will be packed.

Not sure about that. This happened in one of the college games yesterday, and the color commentator said that he didn't think it was a horse collar, but even if it was, the QB was in the pocket, thus no horse collar could be called.

Much better game than the one at Fishers a month ago. Fishers was the beneficary of not one, but two passes that were deflected right to one of their receivers for TDs. For Westfield, it was the Deacon King and Carson Melvin show. They were a huge % of the Westfield offense tonight. Cato June (yep, the former Colt's son) added another score with a kickoff return for a TD. Right now, it looks like a Westfield/Crown Point rematch, except this time it will be at Westfield.

You are spot on about HCC schools being very good in almost all sports, especially non football/basketball. One of the individual sports that they are very good at is cross country. 5 of the 25 teams that qualified for the Girls State Finals were HCC teams. 6 of the 8 HCC boys teams qualified for the 25 state finals spots, with Noblesville (2), Brownsburg (3), and Fishers (5) all finishing top 5. Ben Davis was the lone MIC school in the boys race, and no MIC schools were in the girls race. HCC teams took the top 4 sports in this fall's girls state golf championships (Z'ville, Noblesville, HSE, and Westfield). No MIC schools were in either of these state finals events.

To get thumped again by the southern 6A Semi State winner? :)

Westfield now travels to Fishers next week. The Rocks had an easy 46-12 win at Fishers just a month ago. I would think that the rematch will be much closer.

I realize that Westfield blew out Fishers at Fishers, but after tonight, putting up 44 on HSE, it will be a challenge for Westfield to win this one.

Westfield 35 Zionsville 13 Westfield up 28-0 at half, returns the second half kickoff all the way back for a 35-0 running clock game. Westfield plays subs the rest of the game. Zionsville kept some starters in, including Eugene Hilton. Westfield lost their best receiver for the second time in three weeks. Gabe Ambroles was knocked out of the Franklin Central game with a leg injury. He dressed, but was not needed in the rout of Lafayette Harrison last week. Then in the 1st quarter tonight, after a long pass reception, is knocked out of bounds in almost the exact same spot as two weeks ago. He was on the sideline on crutches the remainder of the game. Westfield plays the HSE at Fishers winner.

True. That was one of the three times that Westfield went for it on 4th and goal. This one he was stopped short. Same with one other time. I do believe that if Melvin is in the game in the 4th, they may well have won and be undefeated at this time.

Well, Zionsville was right in our conference game here in September until the 4th qtr. I also look for HSE to take out Fishers, and our conference game with them went to OT. Maybe the loss at Brownsburg was a good thing, because that game was right there for the taking, but they just didn't get it done. Who knows!

Especially if they have to travel down this way. I'd assume it would be a Friday night game like last year, and not moved to Saturday? By the way, is that a decision made by the home team, both schools agreement, or an IHSAA decision as to what day those long road trip games are played. I remember when Westfield played at Tell City for a 2A Semi-State. That game was moved to a late afternoon Saturday start.

Westfield scored all 49 points in the first half. Seven offensive possessions, 7 TDs. The Rocks only threw 7 passes the entire game, two for TDs. No starters played in the second half. Just about everyone other than the cheerleaders played. Looks like the same for CG, all but one score was before halftime, although in that game, CG did have two first half defensive TDs.

301 more rushing yards by HSE. You would think they would have controlled the clock and Homestead would have needed quick strikes to score.

Zioinsvillle scores a TD on the last play of regulation to pull wiithini 28-27. Eugine Hilton, TY's son, from the wildcat formation, runs in the two point conversion. Zionsville goes to Westfield, Carmel goes home 29-28.
