  1. True, but that was an amazing game. Hard to believe that Westfield has now beaten Carmel three straight time in this sectional. All games at Carmel. Another rematch nexr week. Westfield vs. Fishers. That was another close game at Westfield, 14-7 Rocks.
  2. I think the second year Westfield head coach out coached the future HOF Carmel coach.
  3. Whereas Carmel was satisfied for the field goal to go up three on their OT possession, Westfield went all or nothing. That kid that caught the pass, former Colt's center Justin Snow's kid, is already a good one, and only a freshman playing 6A varsity ball.
  4. BD and Carmel have had radio since as long as I can remember. The Calabro brothers came from BD radio. For those that listen, or used to, to Bob and Tom, KIristi Lee also came from BD radio.
  5. Halftime: Westfield 31 Zionsville 14 Game opened with back to back kickoff returns for touchdowns. Settled down after that. Westfield started to take control in the second quarter.
  6. There have been a few games at Broad Ripple. I think Purdue Poly plays there. I's surprised as the last time I was in that area, that field looked awful.
  7. Westfield stats - 26.4 points per game on offense, 12.2 points per game on defense. Throw out the Carmel game, and its 28.5 offensive points per game, and 9.5 defense points per game. Watching them and looking at these stats, its not surprising that they have a very good defense. They held the "Burg to 14 points. BB averaged 36 points per game. 29 was their next lowest game, against Cathedral. I'd sure love to get another shot at Brownsburg, having lost the two games last year and the one this year by a total of 13 points. Carmel stands in the way.
  8. Am I correct is saying that Chatard has never won a title in 4A. They've all been in 2A an 3A? However this is they year that they may well break through.
  9. If they had a middle school :) Remember when Anderson and those other North Central Conference schools were good. In basketball, they were powerhouses.
  10. Odd game. That pick six by Westfield that turned out to be the game winner was the 8th turnover of the game. Four on each team. It just wasn't a well played offensive game by either side. Westfield was without their number 1 running back Deacon King. Not sure why. I saw him dressed, helmet on, didn't appear to have anything physically wrong. Both teams had 4th and goal from the 1, and neither one was able to capitalize. Defenses ruled this one.
  11. I don't see it happening, especially since the Town Of Sheridan recently annexed some of that land. The only thing that was brought up and is a dead deal was there was a landowner with land on the northwest corner of 31 and 38,. He was looking to sell for development. Some of that land is in Adams Township (Sheridan). Westfield was talking about annexing that into the city limits.
  12. HSE district would add a third high school before Carmel ever would add a second one. I once knew someone in their admin, now about 25 years ago. Carmel was "huge" then compared to most other schools. He told me that it would never happen.
  13. Westfield trailed Carmel in the 4th by just 10, and had the ball near the Carmel red zone when they turned it over. Carmel went right down and scored a touchdown, and added another one late in the game. So I would not call that game a blowout. If they meet again in the sectional, and especially if the game is at Westfield, there could be a different outcome.
  14. I read the Edinburgh game was cancelled, as well as homecoming festivities, due to harassment. There were no details given, but seems similar to what happened up in Wheeler.
  15. Without seeing the line scores, it's hard to see how teams are scoring in the 70's and 80's with the running clock. Maybe a good chunk of those points are coming in the first half. It's almost sad looking at the scores of some of these teams. Cambridge City has not won more than one game since 2015. Those came against either Union County or Union City, two schools that have similar records in recent years.
  16. Could WC afford Wright? Carmel had no problem in that area.
  17. Westfield came back to win 21-17
  18. Agree. I have a relative that works for a real estate closing company that primarily deals with that area. She told me several years ago that area west of Plainfield was the next to boom.
  19. What about Marion Co kids making the trip on US 52 to play at New Pal? Is that happening, or are a huge number of their kids home grown, from elementary on up?
  20. What about all of the high scores, many by teams that you would not consider powerhouses? Two scored over 80. Several more over 70. What would they have scored without the running clock???
  21. Plus, few can compete with these two schools in the sports other than the two you mentioned. That also includes girls sports. Maybe in track, wrestling, that's about it.
  22. Carmel apparently is getting their money's worth by luring back former coach Kevin Wright. Three games, all at home, but still, only Westfield's 31-10 loss to them was the closest of the three games. They and the 'Burg could be headed to a LOS showdown Thanksgiving weekend.
  23. Through the first three weeks, there seems to have been a large number of games ending in blowouts. This is not even a case of a power school over a weaker conference opponent. Teams that are not nearly powerhouses are putting up 50, 60, 70+ points. And that is with the 35 point mercy rule in effect. Any particular reasons?
  24. Didn't I read here during the summer that Cathedral had an assistant leave for N. Central, and had a bunch of players follow him?
