  1. Time was announced as a 3pm kickoff.
  2. Westfield at Brownsburg has been postponed to Saturday. No time has been announced as of 4pm.
  3. I agree, especially in S. Indiana, which is expected to get rougher weather than here in N. Central IN. As of 3:30, a few gusts of wind, but nothing out of the ordinary. Off and on rain showers. They say the poop will hit the fan around 5pm and continue until almost midnight.
  4. For yet another week, it looks like games could well be affected by thunderstorms. The remains of Hurricane Helene look to be on track to hit Indiana, especially southern Indiana. Rain and winds up to 30 mph as well as possible storms.
  5. Actually they cleared the Carmel hurdle two years ago, both that game and last year's sectional games were at Carmel. Guess we shall see on Friday!
  6. Agree with your picks, except, yes, the Westfield at Brownsburg game. The "Burg has had Westfield's number for most of their time in the HCC. Hoping I'm wrong, but this game is at their place. Brownsburg 31 - Westfield 20
  7. Well, Union County did finally score last night for the first time this season. Unfortunately, they were still blown out by Winchester, 77-8. That was Winchester's first win of the season. :)
  8. Westfield 21 HSE 14 OT Defensive battle for most of the game. After just over an hour delay for lightning before the start, Westfield gets the only score in the firsts half on a 62 yard TD run by Deacon King. HSE misses a 50 yard FG at the end of the first half. Second half more of the same, but a LOT of penalties called on both teams, stopping potential scoring drives. Westfield partially blocked a HSE punt, giving them great field position inside the HSE 40, only to have back to back holdiing calls negate any scoring threat. Westfield QB Carsen Melvin also dropped two handoffs to the running back, losing one of them, again near midfield. Having a 72% completion rate going into this game, he did not have a good game, and had several drops by receivers. Finally, after a HSE TD drive, Westfield quickly regains the lead 14-7 on a King 58 yard TD catch and run. Westfield had a chance to put this one away late, but their kicker had a 33 yard attempt doink first off of the left upright, then down and off of the crossbar. HSE took advantage, thanks to a 4th down run deep in their own end, followed by a long pass into the Westfield red zone. A few plays later, it's tied at 14. Time ends with Westfield in their own end and letting the clock run down. Westfield has the ball first in OT, and immediately scores on a 10 yard run..PAT makes it 21-14. After two runs up the gut by HSE, on 3rd and goal from the Westfield 4, the HSE running back has the ball stripped by Micha Webster. Westfield recovers, game over. Next week at Brownsburg.
  9. Union County still has not scored, losing to Hagerstown 62-0. Through four games, they have been outscored 262-0. Warren Central isn't the only team to not allow a point through four games. Mississinewa has outscored four opponents 152-0. Martinsville trailed Decatur Central 35-0, but came back ans won 39-38.
  10. Brebeuf wins this game 69-62. 1,628 yards of total offense. Harris of Brebeuf rushes for 402 yards and 5 TDs. Guerin's QB throws for 638 yards and 8 TDs. Guerin had a receiver with 26 catches for 397 yards and 6 TDs. Where was the defense :)
  11. Westfield 38 Noblesville 18 Westfield led the entire game, but it was close until the last 4 minutes of the game. Westfield was up two scores at 24-6. Noblesville scores, misses the PAT, so it was 24-12. Noblesville recovers the onside kick, and a few plays later, Noblesville actually threw a long TD pass to make it 24-18. About 4 minutes to play. This time Westfield recovers the onside kick. Noblesville, playing the run, gets fooled when Westfield throws a 50 yard TD pass to Gabe Aramboles, making it 31-18. Several plays after the Westfield kickoff, Noblesville's QB is hit as he throws, and Westfield picks it off for an easy pick 6. 38-18. Three TDs total in about two minutes towards the end of the game.
  12. And Cambridge City (CC) has lost their other two games by a combined score of 116-7.
  13. You missed one IU 77, Western Illinois High School 3 :)
  14. Westfield still needs to find it's run game. With the departure of their 1,100+ back Garnett from last year to Warren Central, they are still lacking a bit. If they had Garnett, this team would be awfully tough to beat. Miracle was Gilbert's assistant for all 13 years that Gilbert was the head coach. He knows, the system, the kids coming up, so there should be no issues in that regard.
  15. Add to that, this game is only available on Peacock, meaning if you don't shell out the extra $, you won't be able to watch it. This, plus those mostly awful Thursday night games, which are now on Prime TV, you'd think the NFL would be losing a lot of it's audience. Play 'em on Sunday afternoon (i don't care for the Sunday night games either), Monday night, and Thanksgiving Thursdays.
  16. Me say that you are possibly spot on as to what will happen.
  17. Now where did I complain about fairness? I was there both evenings, and this was a hard fought, mostly defensive battle. It was one of those game where both teams deserved the W. No way would I pay tens of thousands of $$$ for a kid to go to high school. Unlike my years at Cathedral, when they and Brebuf were the only local college prep schools, many in the burbs have just as good if not better academic and athletic facilities Now if my kid was a super athlete, I'm sure Cathedral would supply an all expense paid trip each school day to 56th and Emerson. Westfield has no choice to where they play, since they are in big boy 6A football. Can't move up any further. Perhaps your Irish should concentrate on how to beat Brownsburg :)
  18. Makes sense in this case. So I'll assume that the decision had to be made amongst the coaches/ADs of both schools as to end it as is, end it as a no contest, or resume play the next day.
  19. Westfield, down 10-0 to Carmel at about the 9 minute mark of the 2nd quarter last night, when weather suspended the game, had a strong Saturday and came back to win their third straight game against Carmel, 17-13. As the score indicates, a defensive battle. No scoring in that final 9+ minutes of the 2nd quarter. Westfield finally got on the board in the 3rd on a 25 yard field goal. Carmel came right back and hit on an almost identical distance field goal to make it 13-3. Westfield stopped a Carmel drive with an interception in the end zone on the last play of the 3rd quarter. The Rocks finally found the end zone, now down 13-10. Westfield shut out Carmel the rest of the game, scoring their final TD on a one yard run by Webster about midway through the 4th. They had a huge sack on the Carmel QB on the next Carmel drive on 4th down, picked up one first down, then ran out the clock.
  20. Same for Franklin Central vs. Roncalli, called no contest after halftime. Game was not tied. Travel not an issue.
  21. I'm curious as to some games were called final, a few called no contest, and the rest will be resumed today (Saturday)
  22. Carmel took the opening kickoff down to the Westfield 8, mostly on the ground. Rocks got the stop and Carmel kicked the FG, 3-0 Carmel. Westfield drives inside the Carmel 34, but comes up a yard short on a fourth down run. Carmel doesn't take long, scoring on a swing pass that turns into a 43 yard TD run. 10-0. Westfield goes 3 and out, Carmel gets the ball and again runs it a couple of plays up near midfield. Game was then suspended, later cancelled until 6pm Saturday evening.
  23. Yep. Westfield was awful that first half. If I remember, they were well into the second quarter before they even picked up a first down. Second half, their 1,100 plus running back, who now plays for Warren Central, was pretty much unstoppable. If Gilbert goes for two after Westfield tied up that game late, I think he gets in and Westfield likely wins. Again, just an opinion.
  24. Westfield went to CP in their own school busses. For me, that was a mistake. It's not like the school system doesn't have enough cash to charter busses.
  25. Caught them at home after that three hour Westfield bus ride. I know that these long trip games used to be moved to Saturday years back, but now they all seem to play them on Friday.
