  1. Marion County just announced multiple restrictions. Part of that is restrictions on church service attendance. Bars, restaurants, are going to suffer once again. The ISHAA will be lucky to be able to hold the state finals in LOS at the rate this is going.
  2. Hamilton County Television is streaming the Homestead at Westfield game. They will also be streaming several other games around Central Indiana. Perhaps the Chatard game will be one of these games. There should be a menu to select from for those games, The Westfield game they will be broadcasting themselves. These games are free, no paywall. HCTV decided prior to this season to keep them free and not charge like others have been doing. I believe though that next week's semi-state games are pay per view through the IHSAA network, with the finals on Fox Sports Indiana. http://www.hamiltoncountytelevision.com/default.php
  3. Hmmm, do they have scrimmages with freshman and JV teams, because Westfield's varsity has been scrimmaging against Ben Davis for quiet a few years now. Carmel's stadium is starting to show it's age. I can't recall, but I think it was built back in the early 1990's. I know my son ran track and XC for Westfield, and ran in that facility. He graduated in 2000.
  4. This was Westfiled's third straight shutout. Their schedule has them well prepared for this tournament. However, they are still not in the same class as CG.
  5. Fishers over HSE was an upset. HSE led 21-7 at halftime, but Fishers came back to win 34-29. HSE had beaten Fishers 21-9 in the regular season. Fishers had been pounded in their prior two games by Westfield, 45-6, and Zionsville, 38-7. Perhaps HSE having that last regular season game at Brownsburg cancelled because of COVID cases at HSE hurt them more than having two straight weeks with no games helped them?
  6. Good point about bench players. After Westfield ran tNoblesville's second half kickoff back 95 yards, making the score 35-0, the running clock came into play for all but about the first 15 seconds of the second half. Their offense ran exactly six plays in the second half, three in each quarter. This was with bench players playing the entire second half on both sides of the ball for Westfield. Their bench defensive players got more playing time, and was still able to preserve the shutout.
  7. The running clock does make a huge difference. It's amazing how fast that second half goes with the clock almost never stopping.
  8. From what I heard, Tech has a nice, upgraded facility, mostly due to the NFL. When Indy hosted the 2012 Super Bowl, the NFL had or maybe still has a program that helps football programs in inner city schools.
  9. Since Arlington is now a middle school, then they keep the field in shape just for Cathedral? I'm assuming Cathedral pays IPS for the right to use that field. I also saw where Roncalli played Attucks at Northwest, another IPS school that is now only a middle school. Attucks does have a home field, but maybe not in the best shape.
  10. Wonder if any games will be delayed, even postponed to tomorrow, due to the weather? There was a tornado warning for the southeastern part of the state just an hour ago.
  11. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I'm not predicting it, but I will not be shocked at all if the Burg takes down Carmel. I'm surprised being an Avon guy you don't give some love to the HCC. No, they are not yet top to bottom equal to the MIC in football, but continue to gain. However, I'd say in all of the other sports combined, both boys and girls, they may be the best conference in the state.
  12. I'm assuming you're saying this in relation to the tournament, and not overall, as the HCC has had success in recent seasons against the MIC in some non-conference games. And remember, Avon went to CG and won as recently as the 2017 regional championship. Fishers blew out MIC Lawrence Central for the 5A title in 2010, after beating Carmel in their sectional. Those are the examples that I can think of for now. So it has happened.
  13. But remember, a lot of schools are out last week and more this week for fall break. How much control would a coach have over where the kids and their families go during these times? Now the 1A-4A schools will be playing this week, and with one exception, a 5A school. I'm sure those kids families won't be taking vacation time since the kids will be at practices all week, preparing for these games. But what about the rest of 5A and all of 6A? Will there be practices every day? Even so, what will the kids be doing when not at the practice fields? Would there be a greater chance of catching the virus when the kids are out with their friends and family when not at practice than their would be when they are in school most of the day? Just wondering.
  14. If all of your predictions come true, it would be all 5 lower classes having a P/P in the finals. I don't think that has happened in some time, especially after the success factor was brought in.
  15. This team definitely has a chance to do something in the tournament, as long as they stay healthy. As for playing Cathedral again, I think it would be a much better game. Maximus Webster was not the starting QB at the start of the season, and he's been absolutely on fire since assuming that job. It would have helped if they had had their usual opening game against Lafayette Harrison first, instead of that game moved to week 2. But it is what it is. I don't think overall they beat either Cathedral or CG regardless of when they play. This is an odd year where the two best teams in the state are in different classes.
  16. The Westfield/Franklin Central game was basically over after Westfield ran back the opening kickoff 98 yards for a TD. They were up 28-0 very early in the second quarter, when Coach Gilbert put in 3rd string QB Cole Ballard, son of Colt's GM Chris Ballard. Up 35-0 at halftime, the second half was uneventful with the running clock.
  17. I don't know about surpassing both Avon and BBurg, but Jake Gilbert has really built a program during his time as head coach of Westfield. Besides the 8-1 varsity record, both the JV and Freshman teams are undefeated, playing the same schedule as the varsity. Several of the top varsity players are underclassmen, primarily their QB Maximus Webster, defensive player Popeye Williams, and Micha Houser, who is not only a quality running back, but also plays on defense and special teams. Against Brownsburg, he had an almost unheard of 25 tackles. besides almost 100 rushing yards and 2 TDs. I was shocked how easily Westfield disposed of Fishers at their place last week. Then again, I never expected them to put up 43 at Brownsburg and 59 against Avon. This area is growing so fast, but so are Avon, Brownsburg and Fishers. Most are families with kids, so there has been an influx in talent. Surveys show that the school system and Grand Park are big reasons families are moving here. It also helps to have one of the best high school stadiums. I'm not sure why Fishers is so down this season. HSE is having a good year at 6-2.
  18. To add to this, Kyle Neddenriep of the Indy Star today added that Warren Central would not be Brownsburg's opponent. WC is not looking for a game this weekend, so they will have two weeks off prior to the 6A tournament. Brownsburg is trying to get an out of state team for this weekend.
  19. Hamilton Southeastern at Brownsburg has been cancelled. The issue is with HSE, as Brownsburg is looking for an opponent. Could be Warren Central, who also is looking. @KyleNeddenriep · 2h Friday night's Hamilton Southeastern vs. Brownsburg football game is canceled. Brownsburg still open to scheduling a game.
  20. 3.) I'm biased, but Westfield's 43-42 OT win at Brownsburg was one of the best high school games that I've seen. It was like two heavyweights pounding on each other.
  21. That's too bad. Both have bye weeks after this game, so one day later should not have made a difference.
  22. I know this has happened in the past with all but the top class before the success factor was initiated.
  23. Westfield dominates Fishers, 45-6. Almost the entire second half was played with a running clock and reserves.
  24. We've been fortunate here in Hamilton County that HCTV, which has been streaming county teams for years, elected to keep their broadcasts free. They usually offer 3-4 different area games in HD, with few issues.
